How to remove the lock cylinder from a Kwikset SmartKey entry knob

this video demonstrates how to remove the lock cylinder from a quick set smart key entry knob the first step is to remove the spindle insert a flat bladed screw driver into the spindle and turn counterclockwise to unlock position that's all the way next release the spindle by pushing on this little tab in here I'm doing it backwards for the benefit of this video the easiest way is to insert the flat blad screwdriver and push very gently you'll be able to see the keeper move out of the way and when that happens you can remove the spindle easily next I'll use a 2 and 1/2 mm allen wrench and insert it down the hole I push on it with my thumb so I can do a small flat bladed screwdriver on the other end of the hole and give it all a good push the lock cylinder pops out what I was doing if you can imagine my fingers as the inside of the lock I have the 2 1/2 mm allen wrench down here and then the screwdriver down here and when you push on it all it releases the Springs away from the inside right down in there and the cylinder will pop out hope this helps
