hey guys it's been a long time since I made a guide on how to raise your MMR and that's mostly because I have not raised my MMR for a while uh well I didn't really develop any new strats to help me gain MMR and share with you but now that I've made it past 5k I think it's time to share what I have discovered my secret to raising MMR in my special own way and that my friends is the wonderful world of communication now before we begin now let's go back a little bit last time I tell you guys how to raise your MMR out of the [ __ ] to your nightmare in short my rules were pretty simple you pick a support you find the best guy in your team and you keep that dumbass alive remember that everybody on both teams is probably worse than you and the shiftier you have a captain Lee SS dumb [ __ ] you keep those idiots alive whoever lives longer wins longer right right well that worked for a very long time in fact I started at something like 2.7 and I went all the way to 4k it was great as long as I kept people fighting breathing and I controlled the mid to late game we were good but now suddenly a new issue has popped up suddenly things start to change not everybody on your team is worse than you and god forbid some people on the enemy team are probably better than you suddenly people just rage and throw games for no goddamn reason suddenly it's not about keeping people alive it's about helping them succeed but not just in the game that you see you are a support you got to support them physically with stuns couriers wards pulling stacking all that garbage but you have to also support them mentally now know it's how stupid I know it sounds nuts but if we really want to do something everyone else wants to do like raise our MMR that think outside of the box homie we gotta go meta alright communication your microphone is the most important tool you have at your disposal in dota 2 if you don't have a microphone you go buy that [ __ ] okay people sometimes just say I mute everybody and I go mid and I win all my games you know what [ __ ] those people their goddamn pawns their worker bees no planning no critical thinking and nothing when a situation arises that they don't know about their status quo changes they think it's everybody else's fault I win every game that I do this [ __ ] you you can't adapt you lose I don't lose you Oh watching this video don't lose we don't lose we think critically we adapt we think outside the box but we do use those worker bees alright anyway let's get to some real-world examples you guys so much proteins are known to be the most successful for the longest period of times of course you answer North American teams because North American dota is the best we all know that but the correct answer is teams with strong captains guys calling the shots guys like others can rally behind and follow without having to think this is a real thing you can have the most successful and best [ __ ] players in the world but if you don't have a guy telling them what to do and when to do it they can't do [ __ ] tape sacred anyway a strong captain position is what can make a good team into a unstoppable team so I ask you why don't we do that in our pubs when the military drops off some troops into a combat zone they don't just kick them out of the helicopter and say Yolo good [ __ ] luck and fly away no they got walkie-talkies they got UAV they got their [ __ ] military hand signals information is power and information can only be spread with communication and the best way to do it is have one guy doing all the talking the squad leader that's you baby you gonna do that you gonna become the pub commander alright so step want to be in a pub commander is to support now I know you're cool I want to be the solo mid but hear me out your carries are focused as easy as last hits can be no matter how second nature it is a carry still has to focus on getting those last hits and also not getting murdered your mid is grip mocked in this big dick-measuring contest with the other mid focusing on getting last hits and denies and looking for the clock and runes and all that garbage your offlane is feeding or I don't know what the [ __ ] off liners do and your jungle is trying to remember to breathe so that it doesn't pass out anyway support is the only position that has the ability to think about a look at the game in a meta perspective while everyone else is farming sure you got a lot to do you got a pole stack gank all that crap but let's get this out of the way get off your [ __ ] high horse supports you have the easiest job but because you have the easiest job you have to do the hardest things you have to be the one who thinks about the game in a mid since you can stare at the mini-map you can watch other lanes you pick up on [ __ ] nobody else can cuz they're focused and you need to to win these are your men you're keeping them alive you are the pub commander you got a lead okay so you're gonna pick support great job let's split up communication into two parts positive and negative communication first positive okay so the first step is seeing who you can communicate with again when you enter a match you should write in hey guys I'm gonna support if anybody responds to you that's your guy you and him are the [ __ ] a team you're always together your sticking out if you can talk you can plan if you can plan you can win Danny out when you get into the game start using your microphone I know it sounds stupid but what you are doing is creating a healthy communication environment and gaining extremely valuable information usually when I start a game I ask everybody individually a question do they need anything storm what Lane are you going to hey who wants the wards I do this for two reasons one I create an environment of comfort people that might not talk a lot on their mics are forced to talk with me and then they use them in the game or at least they start using all chat to tell me to stop putting tingles in their inventory either way you establish that it's okay to talk in this game we're all friends and we're all going to communicate for now part two of this is also identifying who the dumbass is on your team let me tell you something if you can develop one goddamn skill in this game find out quickly and accurately which one of the players on your team is a [ __ ] stupid [ __ ] I'm not kidding around you want to know if someone's stupid in the first 30 seconds of the game so that you can plan around that [ __ ] instead of letting them free farm for 50 minutes and dive the enemy fountain alone and abandoned leader communication is information if you start talking and someone's responses you talk too much muted or gibbehhh' tango you just found out that person's a [ __ ] idiot now you can plan against that now you can win anyway we were on positive communication so you have created an environment of open communication by talking to each one of your allies and I mean each one of their allies you can tell a guy that he has a great set you think it's cool you can tell some of them a shitty joke I don't care but make sure that you talk to each one of them into jewelley before the two-minute mark get a feel of these people you're gonna be working with them and you need to know something about them all right step to assert your dominance as a leader this sounds hard it's really not I just put a little bit of psychology and do it there's a fun fact did you know that if you ask someone to do something for you they actually end up liking you more and respecting you I know it sounds backwards but it's totally real if I tell you to ward and I give you a ward as an offlaner okay great I mean you get a warrior to go in the offlane whatever but if I say to you hey here's a ward for you can you work the top lane for me I'm gonna go bottom and then after you they do it you say hey thanks man you see how different that is you did something you developed a relationship he did something for you and by saying thanks you psychologically made him realize that he followed your instructions and he received a positive reinforcement for it am i weirding you out I mean what is getting started another way to establish yourself as leader is to keep them reporting to you and not the team in general saying things like hey man how's the top lane going do you need any help just let me know okay he says it's okay but he's talking to you directly he's reporting to you he doesn't even know it so you do this for all your lanes when somebody gets a kill you say I knew you were gonna be good baby when someone dives at our and kills somebody saying oh [ __ ] this kids [ __ ] crazy they know that you're watching them and they're gonna respond to knowing that you know and seeing that you've developed that you are the leader because you're constantly communicating with them and they're reporting straight back to you now dota is stressful dota is hard but if you can take away this stress and people can feel like they can just follow orders it becomes so much less stressful for the people play there's a reason that someone tells the firing squad to kill the prisoner it's that they don't have to feel bad when they pull the trigger someone else told them to do it if your carry dies after you told them to go in they don't need to feel like they're playing bad and start raging that was your call you take the responsibility and guess what you can handle it so anyway having a leader in itself can win you games you don't even need to be a [ __ ] good honestly I make [ __ ] calls all the time I'm constantly messing up but letting the team know that you are watching the mini-map caring about their lanes and asking for their advice takes a huge weight off their show of course to do this you actually do need to watch the mini-map and say [ __ ] like yo top lane you're getting ganked even if they know that they're getting ganked knowing that the support is watching out for them take so much stress off of them and lets them focus alright so more communication now remember that your support so you should usually be starting fights setting up stuns and controlling the lane your carries are there to right-click [ __ ] you're there to get them to do it that's why you need to communicate as much as possible during anything here's an example for you so you're gonna get bot lane with another guy in your both smoked one enemies in the lane also your carry most people right before they attack will say go or they'll paint though what the [ __ ] does that mean go gone what what what do I do there's a million [ __ ] things picking a guy and saying go could mean try this out instead what if on the Mike you said hey we're swooping around the trees and I'm gonna stun this guy in three two one do you realize how many things you clarify just by counting down when you were gonna stun by saying exactly what you're gonna do when you're gonna do it you give your teammates the opportunity to plan exactly what they want to do three seconds early I count down every goddamn stun I do because we don't stack stuns then my carry is already walking towards the target someone starts the TP instead of making it so that everyone on your team has to react randomly to whatever's going on you give them the opportunity to plan ahead three seconds before that's amazing if your teammates a dumbass and he can't play with you three seconds ahead start counting down from 10 seconds I don't give a [ __ ] I do it all the time there's no reason to make any of your actions in this game of mystery say what you're going to do say when you're going to do it and make sure you tell people what you want them to do as well that [ __ ] is easy alright so in short positive communication is a powerful tool telling people that they're doing good asking them to do things for you telling them when and why you're doing things creates a stress-free environment which allows you to be in control whether they realize it or not less stress more structure equals easy wins but of course there are exceptions let's talk about when you [ __ ] up and who will you [ __ ] up I am NOT a good dota player in a traditional sense I can't click more than two hotkeys at once and I can't last hit for [ __ ] but if you want to be a pub commander all you got to know is when shit's gonna work and what it ain't gonna work you got to know when people should fight and when they should die you got to be able to convince your team that if they all die getting this rax at 18 minutes it's going to be totally worth it most of the time you will know these things even if you don't your allies will think that you know these things they'll be more organized and they will be unafraid if you can establish yourself as a leader and tell your team to do [ __ ] they're gonna think that you know what you're talking about and sometimes it might work sometimes it doesn't but I'll tell you a team that thinks something is gonna work and goes to do that will beat any team that's uncoordinated 90% of the time but sometimes you got to [ __ ] up you got to tell your team to go Roche and fight and then they're all going to die and then you're gonna lose a rax chips gonna happen in that situation your best bet is to take responsibility and say what went wrong say well that was a bad call by me we should have done this this and this this reduces tilt and it can also motivate your team a little bit but if you're making a shitload of bad calls all game you need to stop [ __ ] talking seriously you're a leader but a leader with an ego is way worse than no leader at all I have said many times before in my games guys I'm making some bad calls you guys do you I'm going to buy wards and support you but I need somebody else to be in charge because I suck this can in some situations be the best thing you can do and I've won plenty of games by having that sentence spit out if your teammates are annoyed with you stop talking if you're getting people killed stop talking if you find yourself flaming your teammates really stop talking all you have done by shutting up is making this into a normal pub game and you've won plenty of normal pub games before so stop talking as much yeah you can still tell people what you're doing though but it should probably stop all right now let's have a talk about special cases most people in the game are just like you they want to win they want to have a little bit of fun they lose they win they won't have a nice time great laugh with them joke with them whatever make the situation positive and open for communication but then there are other people and I've put them in the categories for you to help explain number one the husk you will commonly find the husk in the point-five bracket and by this I mean the 3.5 to 4 K or the 4.5 to 5 K you say we as dota players we relate MMR to skill and the milestones like 5 K 4 K 3 K those are what we strive for many strive for that and they never [ __ ] make it or maybe they've been there and they've fallen from grace and they've been trying for months to return they sit in their games clawing and clawing for that chance to be good again but they can't and they do everything that they can in the camp but their teams just keep feeding and they start to lose their minds and they're always pissed always they go into dota 2 pissed before the game [ __ ] starts they're tormented by their own failures for so long everything makes them angry cuz deep down they know the only reason they can't move forward is because they're [ __ ] shitty this is a husk of a normal human being this is the husk the husk will gg after first blood the husk will sell all their items late-game and say no wards over and over the hospital ping you everytime they die even though you were already dead the husk will work against you all game your job to win this game is to tame or kill the husk now taming the husk is never easy but here's what I do you gotta treat this person like he's a literal [ __ ] baby literally a baby pee talk to the husk constantly when he dies and pings you a hundred times saying no gank you apologize profusely you buy wards and then you sell them you use your words to suck up to him in any conceivable way that you can compliment every kill apologize for every gank and steal as much as his farm as you humanly can I mean verbally your is underlain you're his little pillow to cry into and punch like a child throwing a tantrum verbally that's you physically you're waiting for him to die so you can TP to his tower and take all the XP and farm until he comes back you're stealing every last hit this person is not suddenly going to do better if you commit all your resources to them nine times out of ten they're going to take all that commitment farm out game and then go afk once the enemy pushes the racks for the first time pinging and complaining the only two scenarios for victory husk our to snowball in the one teamfight that they're in until you win or you steal every piece of XP and gold that stupid [ __ ] was ever going to waste on himself over the mic though you're his best friend don't worry when you win this game you're gonna be higher MMR than him and he'll still be here three years from now number two the foreigner people hate people that they can't communicate with and that's because it's super easy the fact is when a guy can't communicate with you you don't need to think of them as people I mean dehumanizing the enemy is the first step in any war and you're not killing other people you're killing them you aren't losing games with another person right you're losing cuz a Peruvian or Russian or a Martian is losing this game and they're not people wrong dumbass they're [ __ ] people and I'm not telling you because I want to spread goodwill and kindness throughout the DOTA community I'm telling you they're people because people can be controlled and we're going to control them these dudes left their servers for a reason sometimes it's ping but most of the time everybody in their server treats them like [ __ ] well not you you see there's one thing that all of us humans understand it's very uncomplicated and it is the language and communication of murder when you play with somebody from another country you can't talk to you know what they will understand when you ping at someone and start screaming [ __ ] over your mic I have one more goddamn team fights by screaming deaf I on my mic and running in with no plan than I ever have with planned communication your job as a captain is to get the rest of your team on the same level of ferocity as you can with the foreign dude you yell all the time go should be your most spoken phrase in the entire game I don't care where you're from or what language you speak but push early and kill early is the easiest dota strapped to both communicate and execute if you're in this game you pick C them and buy wards and stack like a good little support you're gonna have a bad [ __ ] time if you pick omni night and go dull by diving tier threes at 8 minutes with your entire team you're gonna have a great time or you're gonna have one quick ass game and go to the next one hell of a lot faster and a hell of a lot more bumped up than you were trying to communicate a 70 minute late game before dudes from the United [ __ ] nations on your team push kill yell all humans have their own culture their own people but we're all [ __ ] from cavemen so take out some claw and beat some goddamn heads in in that early game number three the trench commander this is the bizarro version of you he starts the game by telling people what to do instead of asking them to do it everything he says it's negative aggressive judgmental his calls are bad his plays are bad his ideas are bad and he talks the whole goddamn game trying to control it he all chats the enemy team and tell him that his teammates suck he will ruin you if you let him this one is pretty tricky to handle with positive communication but the one way to do it is to get him to talk to you instead of a team ask for his advice and immediately discard it but do sound sincere feed his ego but then after he makes a wrong call tell him what was wrong with it slowly steal control from him when he flames someone on your team come to their defense and say what they did right and what they can do to win your end goal is not to be this kid's friend your end goal is to get your teammates to listen to you since you've been protecting them and to make this idiot shut up after telling him everything was wrong the whole game if he's a cool dude and just doesn't know what he's doing that's cool be nice to him just talk to him keep him motivated but if he is a husk with a microphone you school that dumbass so hard he only gets on the mic to say thank you very much after you win the [ __ ] game alright while speaking of destroying people let's talk about negative communication oh did you think that this was going to be a speech about not being mean to people listen this isn't a [ __ ] Disney movie okay this is real life and being nice to everybody that ain't gonna win no this is how you communicate with people negatively to win you games and MMR alright so positive communication that can get you super far telling people what you're thinking what you're doing when you want to fight and complimenting them after great plays are all great but sometimes that stuff don't work sometimes you got to use negative communication take for example the following scenario you have a jungle axe with a blank dagger and a blade male at 20 minutes his score is zero deaths zero kills and you just lost another teamfight cuz he's still farming now do you ask him nicely to come and help you maybe maybe you've asked him three times already do you want to know what's more effective calling him a [ __ ] ass [ __ ] and telling them to get his coward ass on a jungle before you block every [ __ ] camp with a warrant now I know this seems harsh but people are motivated by two different things some people are motivated extrinsic which is to say they're motivated to do things for external rewards like money cars and praise phrases the big one when you tell someone they did a good job after a kill and they give you a well-played after that extrinsic motivation they want to do good because you're the leader and you're saying hey you did a great job that makes them feel good other people have intrinsic motivation motivation inspired about what they want to feel about themselves this is super difficult to manipulate over voice communication but there is one way and that is cognitive dissonance the state of having inconsistent beliefs our attitude based on behavioral decisions in short layman's terms if you call a dude a [ __ ] [ __ ] in his head he goes I ain't a [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] this kid and does stuff to prove you wrong and himself right you see the only trick was you know he wasn't a [ __ ] [ __ ] you just want him to [ __ ] fight and now he's doing it because he thinks he's right you can ask a nanny mate you keeps getting picked off alone and out of position a million times please auntie mage stay with the group and you won't keep getting picked or you can say this anti-mage is a [ __ ] dumb ass he gets picked off alone all the time now don't get me wrong you'll want to start positive positives your go-to but if they don't listen to you you got to switch up your style don't forget it's not what you say it's how you say it your goal is not to be a dick you never want to be a flamer the goal is to make your teammate do something that you want them to do for example you could say any majors feeder this gives zero information it doesn't make them want to change and in fact he probably just thinks that you're a [ __ ] [ __ ] but if you say this anti-mage keeps feeding because he's too stupid to see no one on the mini-map and he keeps getting ganked suddenly the anti-mage player can say wait a second I'm not too stupid to notice that [ __ ] this annoying [ __ ] I'm going to show them the results of your negative communication is completely different the first AM afk still the game's over and the other goes out to prove you wrong and in the end that's all you wanted you wanted to be proved wrong he doesn't care about your praise or hate he cares that you see him intrinsically as something he believes he is not and thus he will try to fix it cognitive dissonance now the trick however is to always go back to positive communication in the end you start positive if that doesn't work you go negative but remember you got to be positive again when the anti-mage keeps farming and not dying and he gets a good item say holy [ __ ] a bash Adams doing it man you can't be a bad guy forever sometimes you will be but it's better to have your team look at you as a leader rather than a bully use the tool of negativity sparingly but don't forget it can be the only way to motivate some people on your team you can also use it to motivate people on the other team remember the old husk that shadow of a man with his finger on the I give up button ready to feed couriers at any moment what he's on your team he is the worst but when he's on the enemy team that guy's your best friend as soon as you read all chat messages or the other guy complaining about his teammates you latch on to that [ __ ] compliment the husk on his other team tell him that he is right his build is perfect he's the best player on his team convince him that him and you and your entire team feel sorry that he was put on the [ __ ] situation with these horrible teammates you want him to get mad you want him to give up you're his only friend and he's gonna lose to please you everytime he dies say [ __ ] like where was your support the faster he gives up the faster you win and be sure to report him at the end of the game for Tex abuse because he's a piece of [ __ ] also type an all chat that you reported him one less husk and he got played negative reinforcement could also be used against husks and trench commanders on your team as well if you have ever tried to stop a person from going nuclear and that means feeding curry or selling all the items afk I mean this kids out you can use negative communication to win after they quit do you know what unifies humans more than anything it's a common enemy tell your teammates that you can win despite this dumbass who gave up on you make fun of them with your teammates keep them the butt of your jokes that scene fight was worse than our jungle legions farm rally your team to fight with you not to be 5 enemies but to beat the one [ __ ] on your team that has been tormenting them all game it sounds weird but if you can convince your teammates that winning is the ultimate revenge against your feeder flamer you can win and I do it all the time sometimes you can even bring them back from the darkness with enough harassment pissing off your feeder and making your teammates laugh at it instead of feeling defeated and depressed is one of the best ways you can get out of that situation two things are going to happen that feeder is going to get so sad a abandons which gives you more money and gives you a chance to win to piss them off enough that he gets back into the game any case your teammate goes nuclear negative communication is a go-to strategy use it wisely so that just about covers it communication is a powerful tool and in the hands of a capable leader it can lead to easy success even if you're not a good player the fact that you can take stress off your team coordinated attacks and give direct orders makes any game instantly easier become the pub commander use your mic support your teammates both in game and over voice come find the guys you can communicate with and do it often find the guys that are bad and learned how to deal with them know when to shut up know when you're wrong and stop talking you don't need to be the best mechanically to win these games you just need to be in charge and you just need your teammates to charge in a battle with you ok guys bonus section if you're still here one thing that you should try to employ in your games is to make sure that there is no group diffusion which means when you say something critically and you mean it to one guy you have to say for example if the team keeps feeding and they say everyone's beating that's not helpful but if you say storm you're feeding and you point out to stuff hey shadow shaman by Ward's that puts the group diffusal of responsibility eliminates it you gave a direct order so somebody will do something other things that you could think about overall just try to have fun be nice if you're ever mad if you're claiming your teammates if you're saying means [ __ ] to them without a purpose you have failed you have become more detrimental than you ever would have by just shutting up and that is number one if you feel yourself getting upset if you feel like you're not winning a lot of games there's one good advice I have for you in life and that is stop take a break go [ __ ] play some shitty game like overwatch for casuals don't play DotA for like 48 hours come back and suddenly all those problems go away play some unranked but if you ever find yourself blaming your teammates being mean to people for no reason you're just [ __ ] up completely that is the worst possible thing you can do I'm not saying don't be a dick as we talked about in the guide via Dickon be very good it can be essential it could be the number one thing that wins you a game well you have to be a dick for a reason they have to apologize at the end the game and you have to be nice but you're just flaming your shitty dude also I'm a little worried about this guy because I don't want a bunch of people go into the games and mean like I'm going to talk all the time be annoying don't be [ __ ] annoying alright that's really hard advice coming from me I'm [ __ ] annoying all the time don't be too much like me be yourself speak talk to him like human beings especially the foreigner guys I know they can't understand you but treat them with respect and your teammates will treat them with respect and then maybe you can win some games nobody wins games for v6 we could still win games for v5 go out there treat each other with love respect and passion unless they're being [ __ ] then telling they're being [ __ ] [ __ ] and again in the game alright thanks for watching
