hey guys Chris the Midwest bass honor today I'm going to show you how to put this onto this [Music] so I picked up this new reel now I got to put some line on it so I'm gonna use some Berkley vanish 17 pound fluorocarbon gonna put some fluorocarbon on this I'm gonna show you quickly how I do this so when I put line on a bait casting reel I like to have it on the rod you can do it without a rod but I prefer to have it on the rod alright so here's what we're going to do we're going to take this line we're gonna run it through the first eyelet so I like to run it through the first eyelet on the rod you can go all the way to the end of the rod if you want I just go through the first one the reason I do that is just like I think it gives you a little bit better feel when you're putting the line on and it makes a little easier to put some tension on there get some more tension on the line so now that I have a line through the first eyelet the first thing I'm going to do is run the line through the line winder so the line winder is that that that moves the line and winds it evenly on the spool you got to run it through that if you don't run it through that you're gonna have big problems it's not gonna wind up evenly on the spool and you're gonna have a mask you can I take it out start over so make sure you hit that line winder sometimes it's hard to hit all right so now I've got my line through here now I need to tie a knot now the knot that I like to tie is called an arbor knot and it's a really simple knot basically it's two overhand knots I'll show you how to do that so the easiest way to get this line around the spool is to just stick it through these holes so not all spools will have these but if it doesn't you just have to kind of fish it around which can be a real pain but is that most most spools have these holes in them they kind of put them there just take weight off the reel but if you put it in there and just slowly reel it around now it's back up top here so I can work with it so now we get the line around the around the spool and we need to tie a knot so what we're gonna tie is the arbor knot it's probably one of the easiest knots out there and if you can't see it in this video just google it I'm sure there's a video on YouTube about how to tie it so basically it's two overhand knots so I'm gonna make a small overhand knot right up here just like that cinch it down on itself now we're gonna take this line we're gonna make an overhand knot right here know I've got this knot in this night and I'm gonna pull this knot so it cinches down against that one and that is basically it it's easy to tack you just cut off that little piece of tagline and now you're ready to reel on the line what I like to do is give this fool to one of my kids have them sit there and put their thumb on it while I reel it you're gonna make sure the line comes off the top of the spool off the top not off the bottom this would be no good if you put it if it comes off the bottom you're gonna have line twists so it needs to come off the top now if you do not have somebody to help you I have some other line here I'm going to show you a way you can do this by yourself so if you by yourself you gotta have tension on that line otherwise you're gonna have like a backlash on the spool your spool of line just like you would on a reel so what you can do is you can take those spool and if it has a box or a package so this line comes with a box the other line I'm using today comes with like a plastic bubble pack what you can do is put it back get your line out put it back into the package close the box now you're not gonna have any problems with that coming off there you're gonna have to put this somewhere where be held and it's not gonna pull it along so that the line can come off the spool in the school well just sit in there and spin while you fall in line off of it and that should keep good tension on it and keep you from having issues having a line nice and tight okay so now I'm ready to spool this line on and wind it onto this reel I'm gonna hold the line up here on the rod to keep good tension on it I want the line to be on there pretty tight I don't want it to be loose all right toys fooled it all on I held good tension on it while I was pulling it to keep it nice and tight on there and as you can see I filled it almost to the top I've left a little bit of space in there some guys leave it a little bit leave a little bit more room on there I like to fill it up pretty much if I can because I know you know I like to use my line for a couple seasons if I can so I like to have it nice and full all right guys there's one other thing that will help with this type of line monofilament and fluorocarbon this is not braid so this doesn't apply to braid but you can stretch this line which will help with backlashes and and just line twist issues tangle problems and I'll put a link right up here to a video I made on how to stretch your line a little bit help with those issues alright guys thanks for watching today make sure you subscribe hit that little bell so you don't miss anything and we do lots of videos like this
