welcome to my channel car guide uk this is where you have to get up and fix it please subscribe and remember to click the bell if you want more videos like this this video we are going to be showing you how you can straighten the chassis legs so as you see here we bought its audi a3 which has had quite a big impact on the driver's side front and the chassis leg has been pushed in and so has the other side so we do need to straighten them up to see where we are at the first thing we need to do is get it on the car aligner ram so this is just a special ramp that we use when we're straightening out panels you can do so many things on this attach so many things to it and remove so many bits just so you can get to things and pull things around but we will show you that again at a later stage but what we're doing here now is just showing you the setup so the first thing we need to do get up on the ramp get it to the right height that we need it ready to continue so once you've got it up on the ramp and you're happy with the the lining of how the vehicle sitting so making sure that it's straight on there you will just need to boot up the software so as you can see here we're just going into this software here and this does so much this is going to be able to tell us everything we need to know about the car but the first thing we need to do is set it all up so that we can prepare ourselves ready to pull that chassis leg that is clearly damaged right so now that's why that's loading up there what we're going to do is we're just going to buzz off the under trays for the vehicle so as you can see here each side um where the seals are they are under trays we need to remove those so we have a 10 mil um you know plastic nuts that are holding it on you just need to buzz around to get all those off because you can't work on this with those in the way because they will be in the way for where you want to measure so you just need to remove them first once you have that out the way you just need to go back onto the software and choose your vehicle so ours is there so the 2003 to 2012 one on the lda3 and that will line up all the points so this is just telling us where we need to put the brackets to hold the vehicle in place because this is going to be our points and it's telling us here this the length that they want it to be from the back of the wheel so it's the center of the wheel all the way over um to where it says so you want to just make sure you get the measurements right and then the furthest one away mark them with a little bit of masking tape as you can see there once you're happy then you can load that into the system to say that that's all selected and then you can press ok which will load up the next page ready for us to continue so what we need to do now is we need to just check and go into the next mode let's wait for that to load up we're doing the we're doing the loading part in real time guys yeah so there you go so once that's gone through so it wants to know whether the engine's in or out we've taken the engine out so we're gonna do it out because we can't really get to the things we want to and it's too much of a stretch to have the engine in there to be able to do that as well which is not fair um on the engine because we don't want to damage that even though the engine took a bit of a hit but the next thing we do is we just put this jack in place so that is to just get the vehicle up out the way as you can see we've already removed some of the bits where the car was sitting on because we want to make sure that all of those are out the way and pretty much the car will be floating on those two points one side and the two points the other side you just need to set up the wrap there's so many attachable and detachable parts that you can put on here for the vehicle uh you know to add stuff to it and to move things around it's such a clever device really is right so as you can see here this is just me setting up getting ready for the car to be put into position so what we're doing here is we're holding up out the way with the jack so the jack holds it up and we just need to attach these brackets where the masking tape is we want it in the center so that we're making sure that that is where they want us to hold the vehicle because once we measure the points underneath everything will line up perfectly and tell us how far out our chassis leg is going to be this is a little bit of a processor we're just going through showing you how this is and just kind of showing you how it's all set up ready to start the pulling there are special brackets made for each part of this you know setup section so here you can see we've got these big sort of l brackets that sit into the channel of the ramp and there are big brackets that hold it down you want to make sure that all this is like in place in line and secure because this preparation here is just the main key uh to make sure that everything goes well so as you can see they just go in uh you have to get them right and then they twist so just go get them in a certain way there you go that sits in like that and then the bolts just go over the top and then that holds it in place there's another one for the other side but you need to make sure all this is secure because this is going to be pretty much the car is going to be hovering on these two brackets each side and so you will need to repeat this process the other side to make sure that everything is done and lined up in place so we're just getting the last bracket ready just slide that over all this equipment is just absolutely superb and then that's what's going to hold on to the seal ready to be put into position so once you've got it in and you've got your tape lined up with the center of that you just want to make sure that you buzz it all up just so that everything is held in place so we're just showing you here we've removed the sound because it's quite loud for the um the device to be set up so as you can see now we have all our points so we just need to click on where our points are so we'll just check making sure that it's in position to where it's told us so now on the computer the computer knows that them clamps are holding that in place it wants us to now measure underneath to make sure that all the points on the main structure of underneath is zeroed out so what that means is obviously that means that everything is in place so now that's all clicked in and ready to go this is our measuring device every time we get a measurement we click it and it makes a noise and that noise indicates that we have it in the right position in the right place so we'll just go around and do that both sides so we'll just show you again so there you go so that one is now in place once you've done that on both sides that's all messed up and that has taken that reading to know that that is where that is meant to be if it makes a noise is happy if not then you have to do it all again so just make sure that that is complete then you go to the next step and then it's kind of showing you you know how you have to measure the front because this will indicate how far the chassis legs are out they obviously are out quite a bit so we do need to go around and do the measurements that it's asking us to do just so that we've got something to work off and see how far we are away from it being parallel to each side every time we do a reading it's saying that that is happy with that reading so we just continue to do where it's telling us to position it so this is saying underneath the part of the chassis leg there so that's the bad side so that's the really bad side and it wants to know the points uh where they are out if the crash bar is going to go on so what that's doing is telling us here where it's up down back right left um either way you need to just click on the crash car once you've done all your measurements and then tick that you want to turn it into a good car so basically what it's saying is it's saying that uh you're ready to pull the vehicle and get it ready um for pulling so this device here is the pulling machine so you need to make sure that that's all held in place so this everything connects on to the ramp itself so as you can see here you need to lock this into place so as you put that through you do want to make sure that it's in and held in well because there's going to be a lot of pressure you do need to set up the pulling device where you know where you are going to pull and then you are really kind of ready to start using this but you need to follow the guide on the computer at the same time if you can see in the top right hand corner there is a little dot and what we're trying to do is we're trying to get that little dot into the center as much as we can so that will tell us uh if the car is out there is a free meal tolerance which is actually really good um so free meal tolerance is just sort of like where you um can go for it to be kind of faction approved really uh for that to be out but we're trying to get it dead center if we can on that side um i do need to tell you a little bit about the driver's side one which i'll tell you about in a moment but i'm just showing you are setting this up so all you need to do when you are pulling a chassis leg and you are trying to get it into the position that you want to get it into you do need to pull it like way over so say if you've got five mil your five mil out you might have to pull it as much as 20 to 30 mil before it will spring back into the position you want it so we will get some good shots of pulling the leg and we have a little bit of footage of us doing it so that you know when it clicks into place that's a good pull so i will show you that in one second i'm just going to let you watch this bit for now so as you can hear there guys that was a little click that we wanted to hear so that was um that doesn't mean that obviously that's where it's got to go but that just means that that's where the metal has been pushed so far that it needed to be stretched out as you can see on the top right hand side again we're trying to get that as close to the center as possible because the more we get it closer to the center that means that that chassis leg is going to be really straight if you need the chassis leg lifting then you would have to put something underneath and pull upwards but this chassis leg was actually okay didn't need um putting up or pushing down it just needed pulling back over because the impact of where it went in is where obviously you need to pull it back out so if it was hit from the driver's side and pushed all over where the engine would have been that would have pushed that side out so you need to just pull it back in the direction of where the pool uh was obviously put in from when the accident happened and we didn't see the accident so we don't know how badly the accident was or what happened so we're only going off what we've got there so as you can see here that is pretty much dead center pretty much dead center so on the other side we do need to straighten up the top part of this as you can see there's going to be a nice pull here and we've reduced the sound of taking the sound out and just so you can see but the measuring device is always on there and then you just want to pull right at the end of this you're going to see that pull and click into place really nicely but i just want to tell you guys um this chassis leg cannot be repaired it is actually 10 millimeters too short so it's been squished backwards too much and you can't pull that out so that is going to have to be replaced but don't worry guys we have a chassis leg replacement video coming um not long after this one so make sure you tune in and thanks very much for watching you've got any questions please like share and subscribe and remember to get in contact with us in the comment section down below and thanks again and see you real soon bye you
