How to play Silent Night (fingerpicking)

my Oh in this video I'm going to teach you how to finger picked silent night this song is particularly great on a guitar because it was written on the guitar the story is that sometime in the 1800's in a small church their organ was broken so they had used the guitar how cool is that first in this video I'm going to show you the chords that I'm playing and then I'll show you the finger picking pattern and then I'll put it all together in a song and then at the end of this I'll include a jpg or a PDF of the lyrics and the course so that you can have it to look at while you're playing so the chords I'm using are D a ng you you the finger-picking pattern is base three two one two three now counting the strings from the bottom so one two three I'm saying base because what your thumb is hitting varies according to the chords so for the D chord the bass note is a fourth string for the a chord the bass note is the fifth string and for the G chord the bass note is the top string so let's practice that finger picking pattern and I'll give you a close-up of the finger picking pattern in just a moment so it's base three two one two three base three two one two three there you go so just practice that so it's nice and smooth don't try to play it too fast [Music] okay here's a close-up of the finger picking pattern on a D chord so that means I'm going to be using the fourth string as the base so base three two one two three days three two one two three [Music] Oh here it is on a the only difference now is that the base note is the fifth string now I'm going to play it a little faster base 3 2 1 2 3 days 3 2 1 2 3 [Music] so here we go with the song you might see me looking off to the side because I don't have it all memorized here we go starting with the D hole for all is calm all is bright round yon virgin mother and child Holy Infant so tender and mild Sleep in heavenly peace Sleep in heavenly peace so stick around for a JPG up the music so that you can print it out and use it later I do teach via Skype you can contact me at Jamie Anderson comm there's a form there that you can use to email me please subscribe to my channel and if you can't find a subscribe button just search YouTube for Jamie Anderson music if you have an idea for a future video just put it in the comments and maybe I'll make it so I'd love to hear from you thanks a lot you
