welcome in this video we're gonna do a solo play through of mini rogue published by nuts publishing so down at the table this is a small dungeon crawl game with some resource management and dice rolling and mitigation for one to two players ages 14 and up and games typically lasts around 30 minutes so basically in this we're going to choose a character and you can play with two choose to either go down a dungeon or climb up a tower going through areas taking out boss monsters until you get to the final balls and defeat them so for setup basically what we need to do is choose our character so we've got a crusader mage rogue and a priestess i'm going to choose going with the crusader so on this card it's going to let us know our starting health of 10. we start with one armor and four food and we have a special abilities so we've got a stun we can do once during combat plot twice the value of your defensive damage or shield do that during exploration to raise the defense of all players by one for the next room only and with that set up we got our board here so go over our xp so we're going to start with zero as we start leveling up we're going to get additional dice to help on our test and during combat we can also spin an xp to do a feat which is basically a re-roll we've got armor so basically we take damage we'll defend our armor from that health if we get to zero we're dead no coming back from that we can also spend two hp as a feat to re-roll a die track our food here tracker gold and we can carry up to two potions so like i said with our starting card there we had a health of ten we've got one armor and we start with four foods that means we have zero money zero potions and 0xp to get started with and i'm going to choose for us to go down a dungeon so basically this is letting us know we've got four floors we need to go through each square here is an area we need to go through and if it has one of these symbols that's going to mean we're fighting a boss monster so go through area one and area two fight a boss monster go down to the second level keep doing this till we get to our final boss down here and we've got a track for when we're fighting monsters there so we'll go ahead and take a marker to put on area one so for setting up our areas we're going to take all of our area cards here with the kind of green back uh brownback is going to be for the boss monsters we'll give this a shuffle we're going to set eight of those out to kind of set up our area so one two and set it up in a grid like this so whenever we move we have to move either to the right or down we're always going to start a level up here and we need to make it down to this area here let me get these back to where they're supposed to be first area is going to be face up and these are going to let us know what type of encounter we have uh the abilities or what we need to spend and some additional effects our first area does not have a boss monster uh this is the final boss so we'll go ahead and put that on the bottom then we're gonna have three other bosses so one of these is not going to make the cut so remove that one and there's our big bosses for the game with our crusader we have this symbol or we can use one of our miniatures if we wanted to designate where we are starting so basically turn is going through the full area we're going to deal with the card then flip the two cards adjacent to the right and below it and that's going to turn we have option to go to either one of those work our way down we get to the bottom we need to lose a food and we're going to refresh our character card because once we use one of our abilities we're going to flip that over then we'll go to the next level and reset and of course if that level has that symbol on it we're going to see what boss we're getting ready to fight and we have a generic rewards and enemy so depending on what level we are in our dungeon it's going to let us know what enemy we're fighting healthy half or if you're playing solo or two players damage they're going to do if they have any effects and any reward after you defeat them and on this side treasure we're going to get two gold with that roll the black die and we have options of getting some other bonuses there so the turn sequence itself shuffle all the room cards place any of them down set aside any unused card so we've got that done reveal the top left room place your meeple or token on it got that done on the dungeon match if the area has a boss reveal the boss card in the bottom right corner shown here our first area does not have that so then for the exploration phase resolve the room card where your character is located once a room card is resolved reveal the two nearest cards the one to the right and the one below possible choose one you can never move diagonally up or left repeat steps four and five until we reach the bottom right and then proceed to the delving phase so now we're going to consume a food ration if you cannot we lose three health flip your character card face up if you used a character skill this turn move your adventures cube to the next area on the dungeon mat and remove all cards from the area and put them in on in the unused room cards so we've got our setup the basics of the rules and like i said we're just we need to go through all ten areas defeating monsters and make sure we don't go down to zero health because well in this game once you do that uh there's no recovering from that so some of our potions we have we have fire frost and poison which is going to do damage to our enemies healing is going to kill us six holy is pretty much going to get rid of some cursed abilities or dice that we have and perception will help us if we go blind so first level we're always going to be rolling with one skill die we have one dungeon die and all these will be set aside for a while whenever we do a test we're going to roll this die basically five and six means we passed the test anything less than that means we failed and the dungeon die like on this it's gonna just let you know what's going on so say we did the rewards here um well if there was a test we'd roll that with an x that's an auto miss and a one would point to the rewards we get for doing combat we roll these dice and add that total up for his damage we roll a six basically that turns into a boost so we keep the six get to roll another die and add on to it but if we roll an x we lose everything for that die roll and with that i think we'll go ahead and get started here so our options on this we can spin the food to get this card it becomes one attachment we're allowed to have one item or we can just lose one gold so if we lose the food and pick this up during exploration we can replace a revealed but unvisited area card with a random card from the unused deck or preparation after shuffling the deck draw the first two cards and insert them back into the deck as you see fit unfortunately we did not start with any money so we're going to lose a food and this is an option we have to do something else and like i said we can have a max of one item card we've resolved that so we're going to reveal below and beside it so we've got a treasure spot this lets us know we have to do a skill test down here we're going to get a gold if we'd already fought in a monster or done a trap we would get three instead and then if we pass the skill check we'll get to see a reward here or over here we're going to do a skill check if we pass we get to add plus one or negative 1 to our die roll to get some bonuses here so left in a hurry better be wary if we were under 10 health would go up to 10. so we are going to choose to go down to the treasure which is rolling a test we're just rolling one die right now for the hero we passed with a five so that means that number is a three so we're going to get plus five health and we got one gold so one gold and up to 15. so that worked out well for us so then we'll reveal got some more treasure down here lock is no match for a rogue but we're a crusader or we go to the bonfire so with this one if our card was flipped over we could flip it back you can either get a xp get some food or rest or risk for more reward also keep in mind if we go here we only have one option to go through next whereas if we go here we're going to have two options i think i'm going to go for some more treasure so we're going to go down here do our skill test so rolling our hero dice plus our dungeon die um we failed the skill test so we're just going to get one gold and since we failed the test we don't get anything here revealing now we're going to run into a trap so skill test we are going to roll the same dice if we succeed depending on what the black dye or dungeon die rolls we'll get these bonuses and if we fail uh losing some food minus the level we're on which is first level lose some armor or health and get poisoned so not cool but that's what we got going on oops all right so we passed the test and we got a one there so on success we're going to get a holy potion so just move that over there then we're delving so we're going to lose a food and refresh if we needed to and then go to the next level so with that pick up all these shuffle up and reset this level and we're going to have a boss monster here so we'll be facing the spider queen at level one twelve health does two damage and poison through defeat we'll get two xp and a reward so starting we got treasure again still don't have any xp we need to get that going up we're going to need more than one dice to win this thing it's an auto miss so all we're getting is the top one coin then we've got a trap here or a shrine so with that we can spin the gold to add plus one to our die roll um i think we're gonna go the way the trap so skill test needing a five or six uh we've got that with rolling a five so that was a bad swarm we succeeded so we're getting two xp a little hermit card or bonfire i'm gonna go down here to grab some more food because if we ever go through a level and we don't have the food to pay for we're going to lose three health it's a nice easy card then we're going to an empty shelter doing a skill test and if we pass we get to add or subtract more onto that um we passed with a three we can turn that up to a four since we succeeded here which is we can either get a holy potion we can't have two the same potion so we're going to grab a healing potion and now we're going in to fight a spider queen and we'll just jump in on that so we're at first level it's going to have 12 health and basically the way these go is we roll and then it attacks back and we keep doing that back and forth until one of us is dead so the actual steps of that is roll your dice so we're still level one with one dungeon die activate any curse and poison if applicable set aside any misses you may now reroll any sixes to add its new result may perform any feats repeat steps three four and five until we're happy with what we've got or done we may use potions and then apply all damage dealt to the monster then for the monster attack the monster still has hp left consult a dungeon die to determine its attack one is a miss six is a noise or armor two through five it's just a successful attack applying monster effects and then repeat until either we or the monster dies like that says and so for the feats may we roll a character die once during a combat to pay by paying one xp or two hp must accept the new results unless it's a critical hit all right so we'd like to get 12 damage done now that's not going to happen with just three so it's going to go down to nine health then the five on it means it's going to do its base attack which is minus two we have a shield of one so we're going to take one but now we're getting poisoned that's another die for us to deal with and the effects of that add the poison diet to your dice pole if the symbol is rolled immediately losing hp so looking at that we have a 50 50 chance of losing some health or nothing happening all right so starting another combat round we did well first we're going to take a damage well actually that's silly um i could have spent a holy potion just to get rid of that so just pretend like that never happened and we're doing three damage one two three and the one means they missed so we keep on going um we're doing three damage one two three it's hitting us for two and we're going to take one because of the armor and we're back to being poisoned and then back to our turn now we're going to take a damage and deal three so we've defeated the spider queen which means we're going to get 2xp and go to our rewards and that is just rolling the dungeon die we're going to get to money and for the six we can either get plus one armor or perception we're gonna go for the armor now we're gonna go to the next level losing some food resetting here and resetting our dungeon for this next area all right so i would like to be getting our xp up a little faster but uh at least above 12 health with a healing potion all right so we're up to an empty shelter again so we're doing a skill check plus or minus one and we're going to take a damage uh we succeeded so we can make that two or three which is still bad we're going to lose an xp all right i've got some treasure or going straight to a bonfire and i'm going to choose to go there and get some food then our options are gonna be hunter so we can spend some money to get some things which is probably where we're headed or go fight a monster i don't want to do that we're going to go down here we are going to buy a blessing here to get rid of our poison so that's going to cost us two let's do i have three money left to get us for health or we spend two money for another food um i think we'll go for more health one two three four so now he's talking to the hunter there we can sell armor for money or potions we're not going to do that next we've got a trap down below us or a core door to the side of us can i eat that i like gaining food rickety planks means we fall to the next level which would be interesting don't like the failure of losing xp because we still haven't made it up a level so we're gonna go through the corridor and we failed so three is can i eat that so we got plus one food so that's what i was hoping for and then we'll move down here spending our food that and this moves down so now we've got the king's protector popping up next and reset our area all right we've got a shrine there so if i had the money i'd spend to add plus one to this but i don't so just getting a die roll and it's just the dungeon die so one disgraced cursed and poisoned that's the worst thing we could have gotten that's going to be a problem all right we've got a hermit coming up next or going into a tomb which i think is the direction we're going to head so it's a skill check so we're rolling all these dice fortunately those are all blanks so in the cursed if we get that symbol the purple dial will be added to your pull of dice when your character becomes cursed and the effects of that is uh whenever you roll that symbol subtract one from each of your character dice including rerolls so it can be cured with a blessing or a holy potion so we definitely need to get some of those we were successful so can add or subtract to three we subtract we get some food or if we add we get an xp we're going to go for xp then we have an armory down here or a merchant we don't have any money so that's a problem we're gonna head that way anyway so we're gonna use the merchant we're gonna sell our own potion to get three money then we're gonna spend two for a blessing to get rid of the curse then we're heading down to a damp cave skill check succeed we get to add or subtract one and we're gonna take a damage we succeeded with a four we can make it go up to a five which is what we're going to do so that's going to give us plus two xp and that gets us to level two so now we get an extra hero die and now we're fighting with king's protector so we are on second level which means it's got 16 health does 4 damage ignores our armor when we defeat it 3xp and rolling on the rewards gather our dice five and a six so that did nothing that means well it's already ignoring our armor but that's what the six means if it didn't already have that ability we have a five and a six we're going to boost that six up and roll another die and that cancels a six all right we're going to spend two hp to re-roll that got us a three so we're doing eight damage down to eight and it's doing four damage to us down to eight then back to our turn nothing there it rolled a six we've got a six i'm not going to boost it we're gonna do the six damage down to two then do our stun ability apply twice the value of our shield is damaged so that's four damage which will defeat second level is going to get us three xp we go up to nine and we roll on the treasure and that's just the dungeon die so we're getting two coins and a three um we can get a poison or plus two xp we're going for the xp up to 11. all right spinning a food refresh our character card and move on to the next level so so far i really can't tell you how we're doing i feel like i could be doing better but we're still alive and that's what matters most at the moment so resetting all right we're at a shrine i'm gonna go ahead and pay a goal to give us plus one to this and that's just rolling the dungeon die so that's going to turn that four into a five it's got a dark heart so we get a plus one health and a blessing which we'll get rid of that all right revealing a monster to fight we are on third levels that's going to be a lesser worm that's nasty or a trap we're going to go for the fight i want to get some xp so he's got 12 health and hopefully we can kill him in one shot um yeah we'll just keep it as is there oh double sixes so that's 12 damage right there all right we are done defeated the lesser worm was truly lesser so we're going to get 2xp out of that moving on to a trap or an empty shelter going here we would get at least one health we've got a good chance at potentially some xp on this side so that's where we're going to go um we did not succeed so we failed poison spikes minus one health and now we're poison unless i want to re-roll a die and i just don't think it's worth it so minus a health and that die comes back so we've got a trap or monster and we're going after the monster figure already poisoned so that doesn't matter 12 health rolling for the attack uh we're taking the damage from the poison we are doing 10 damage down to 2 then we'll do our stun ability which is going to do 4 damage to defeat we're going to grab 2xp going up to 15. move over lose a food reset and go to the next level and not feeling the best about this a little crusader has been poisoned a bit too long really need to get that taken care of be nice to get another holy potion and a lot more health all right bonfire or there's some food so that's your choice we're going for or we can get an xp think the food's going to be more important than a potential trap or a monster we're on third level so we got eight in health get to some food we're gonna go fight the beast ate health to direwolf on level three so no poison we're doing seven damage and i don't want us to hit us so we're gonna go ahead and use our shield ability just to kill it it's gonna get us too experienced actually no it's not got us one food so we got dinner out of killing a direwolf all right so down here we've got a trap or a trap and we're going to spin the crow so we are going to replace a reveal but unvisited card with a random one from the unused deck um get rid of that and replace it with a shrine not what i was hoping for so we're going to come down here into this trap doing a skill test uh we got damaged we succeeded and it's a one which means we get a poison potion so that inflicts four damage on a monster during each of your combat turns including the present one so basically we just did a blood drip of our own blood into a vial and our next spot we have a core door i want something that's going to refresh this or spend money yep that's definitely where we're headed we're off to see the hunter we're spinning two for a blessing to get rid of the poison one money left didn't gonna do anything for us that potion we could spend for two taking us up to a total of three which would give us four health but i feel like the poison is going to be a lot better for us all right moving onward lose a food flip over last section of the catacombs we'll be fighting the cursed dragon here shortly all right oops these go in here also all right see what we get here an empty shelter oh we'll go up to 10 no matter what so that helped skill test if we succeed we get to add or subtract one uh we definitely succeeded with a four so four gives us a healing potion or holy yeah four is what we want then we're taking the healing potion and we've got a bonfire or a trap we're going to take some xp then a hermit or hunter i think we're just going to go over here and we just don't have money to do anything so keep on moving finding a monster which being an undead arbalest or a trap we need some xp so we're going for a fight it's got 12 health and hope we can kill it on turn one six and a four get just to ten i'm going to risk actually there's no need to risk it missed so we're just doing the 10 damage down to two one minute we got a free turn and now we do eight damage to defeat which is going to get us two xps so we're level three get another hero die and moving on to the cursed dragon so we're at level three 20 health for this guy six damage and cursing us but for xp and rewards if defeated so 20 health and see how lucky the dice go for us so it's definitely hitting us two two and a six we're going to try adding one to that six all right so doing a total of 12 damage which takes it down to eight we can use this ability for four more down to four and then spin the poison for four more to kill the cursed dragon so we're gonna get four xp out of that and roll on the treasure we're gonna get two gold and with a one we can get two xp some fire which just inflicts seven damage which seems good we'll go with that and we're going to go ahead and spend our healing to gain six moving on lose a food flip back over and four four the sunken keep our last floor give this a shuffle bonfire hoon or weapon search for food or rest we've got a couple more levels to go through so we're going to gain some food so we've got a hermit there or treasure well i think we'll go look at some treasure so we're definitely getting a coin and that's it we did not succeed so here we've got the hunter or a trap we're gonna go down here spending three money to get four health so we're up to our max of 20. got a monster down here so fourth level kingsguard 15 health tons of damage or we can go look at the merchant and that's where we're going doing nothing then moving on there's a food ready and down a level trying to be stealthy now all right so our next area we've got a hunter we'll just say hello into a trap or fight a monster with 15 health we're going to choose the route of the trap so that's a skill test and we succeeded with a six which means we've got four money so up to five got a tomb or an armory and that's the direction we'll go so if we pass this we get to keep that card and we did on a two means we picked up a rusty dagger which means we've got one feet on this so we can use that to reroll one of our dice later got a merchant or a core door we'll go over here with five money we can get an armor or a potion we're going to spend five to get some armor going up to three move down lose the food refresh and our final area coming up so here's the big boss we've got to defeat him twice first time with 25 health heading for eight and cursing us second time for 20 health dealing nine damage and poisoning us maybe you should have got a holy potion and it is nice to have the fire all right into the core door seeing what happens there skill test gets us to add or subtract one to our dungeon die we failed so it's just a four can i eat that we get a food so down here we've got a damp cave or a trap um we'll go for the damp cave skill test pass we get to add or subtract from four so we can go up to five which gives us two xp um we only have room for one so when you get too much there you gain health but we're maxed out on health anyway then on to potential treasure or that i guess over here we could potentially get another potion so we'll come down this direction definitely getting the money and we passed with a six so we can either get frost or refresh we're already refreshed so frost uh the monster is gonna skip a turn so definitely useful then we've got the crow we'll just move over there we're gonna spin the gold to ignore him and then final boss battle 25 health first attack i miss a three and a four we're going to spin in xp to re-roll this all right so that's 11 damage down to 14. we're gonna make him skip a turn then back to us two x's span an xp for one spin and x well that's at nine yeah we'll spin an xp for the other one eleven we're going to boost that i think that's going to be one short for us 13 yeah we got it down to one health um that's a definite bummer i'm going to reroll this there we go that's going to defeat the first version so it's going to go to 20 health and now he's attacking us doing nine damage minus our shield of three so we're taking six down to fourteen and we're going to get poisoned so our next attack we're taking the damage from that i'm going to spend two health no no need to spend two health use that to re-roll a die so that's 15 damage down to five and we have our fire to do another seven and had a stun if needed so we've defeated the odds remains so now we have the og's blood and that's our goal of this dungeon curl so that's the basics of how this game works so you can play this with a crusader or like said with the mage like i said they all start with something just a little bit different and have some different abilities in there to help you on your quest and it's just managing your resources to try to get your dice up and have a way to deal with beezing poisoned and cursed and different traps so a
