hello everyone welcome back to out of spec guide I'm Max you join me with the Mustang Mach e and currently we're testing in uh this uh 4X basically Mach e 4X premium uh if you're not familiar with any what I just said keep watching this video because I'm going to explain what the right trim level of Maki to buy is for your needs which options to evaluate uh what they cost how they're worth it how it Stacks up to other EVS in the market so join me inside the car as I walk through the configurator on Ford's website and we're going to look at which trim makes the most sense for you because I'm getting a no Maki not only from this one but I've driven the California Route 1 Edition I've driven another GT that we had on loan so I've driven a few different machines and I've also researched it and I drive a lot of EVS so hopefully this video can be helpful for you if you're shopping for my keys and just want to know where to start stick around and I'll see you after the intro foreign Edition 4X that means it's the one with basically eo-wheel Drive dual motors all that so let's get into all the options for your Mustang Machi you want to buy this you know sporty-ish electric crossover um you've come to the right video so there's four different trim levels we're looking at we have Machi select California Route 1 Edition premium and GT these go up the price ladder starting at forty three thousand dollars going all the way to sixty five thousand dollars for the GT model with the performance package so we're going to start with a basic select mock e that cheapest one 6.3 ish second zero to 60 time rear wheel drive standard you can upgrade it to eo-wheel drive that means dual motors like this model has paint packages are fairly standard on this vehicle I think better than Tesla they give you more customization some of them are nice that's cosmetic do with those as you will if you want to customize one so rear wheel drive standard eel wheel drive is three thousand dollars to add on this it it's going to decrease your range so if I add eel wheel drive three thousand dollars extra the price it becomes at forty five thousand sorry forty six thousand dollar vehicle up from an effectively forty three thousand dollar vehicle um to add your wheel drive and lose some range still standard range battery we'll get into how to upgrade your battery you need a higher end model but this is the select we're talking about here we can add in blue cruise for it's a great driver assistant system works really well I like it a lot hands-free driver monitoring all of the Mustang machis have the hardware built in but to add in a subscription you can get a three year bundle for twenty one hundred dollars or you can pay 800 a year later with the vehicle if you decide to get it you get a 90 day 90 day free trial otherwise if you subscribe monthly pass that free trial it's 75 bucks a month so basically blue cruise is a subscription now if you're a highway commuter this is a nice thing getting the bundle package will save you 300 every three years if you know you want it but no pressure because you'll have the hardware you can always subscribe to it later on your wheels 18 inch standard fairly normal uh you get all season tires um only one choice of interior color you get a power driver seat in a manual front passenger seat uh you can add in Comfort package basically that will um comfort package light as they call it will add in some of the heated amenities the steering wheel heated front seats as well as memory driver seat and power folding side mirrors that's basically all there is to the select model again this is the base model um so yeah you also you just basically get the base everything it's still a perfectly fine car and honestly if you don't live in a cold weather climate I would recommend getting rear-wheel drive it's going to save you some money and it's going to be more efficient on Range let's go back to the model lineup and start with premium though premium is also optionable between rear-wheel drive and eo-wheel drive premium starts um pretty expensive at 49 000 just for rear-wheel drive because it comes with a lot of equipment adding an eel wheel drive however on premium is cheaper instead of three thousand dollars it's only 1100 I believe in 45 extra so that's kind of nice keep in mind though again you have shorter range with the premium with all-wheel drive and the same battery you can also upgrade the battery extended range battery but that's seven thousand dollars on top of that so now you're looking at a vehicle that is um fifty thousand dollars plus seven thousand dollars so that's going to be fifty seven thousand dollars um so we've gone quite up a bit if we want that big battery I don't really think you know you're going up from 200 and 20-ish miles of range to 200 um 90. you know it's definitely appreciable but if you don't road trip a lot if you mainly uh live within a 30 40 mile radius of your home as many people do then I would say sorry the vehicle is going to shut off because I haven't been driving if you live within a 40 mile radius of your home which most people do I would say honestly just um stick to the non-extended range battery the standard range battery at all-wheel drive if you live in a cold climate if you're adding your wheel drive then yes extender range can make sense but remember these are adding up these are Big options packages um one other thing I should mention this applies to all the trims Ford mobile power cord it's a mobile power connector these are super useful for road trips they let you plug into different types of sockets on the road in emergencies or overnight you can plug into a 50 amp socket and charge your car overnight like in your house or anywhere really that you have access to a 50 amp socket like at RV campgrounds I always like to have one on my car it's a 500 option you can remove it if you want to save some money but I like keeping the Ford mobile power cord or whichever one they're all generically work with vehicles but the four branded ones fine 500 it's a little overpriced but hey if you want a simple built-in option that's there and so that's an option you can remove though for 500 if you won't be needing that my girlfriend and I made a video about why the mobile power connector in my vehicle my electric pole star 2 was so great to have so watch that if you're curious about what that is but anyhow this is all the premium package a lot of extra things standard heated seats the panoramic glass roof I should mention makes the cabin feel a lot more open so that's nice a standard memory Driver's Seat but still you don't get a power passenger seats which I think is kind of cheap but yeah some nice upgrades as well as a Vietnam sound system which is okay I don't find its performance particularly great neither is the base audio system so I don't think this vehicle is the best choice if you care about audio the bno is better I'm sure than the bass sound system but having listened to it I don't particularly like it compared to other vehicles in this class anyhow California route one this is the range optimized build so it starts at a more expensive price than the premium but that's because it's actually less equipment so what you think why is it more expensive it comes standard with the extended range battery and all-wheel drive so by coming standard with that it actually is cheaper than the premium if you added to the premium all wheel drive and the extender range battery so if you care just about range get the California Route 1 spec it's nice it also comes with 18 inch wheels keep in mind when you have the choice between 18 19 and 20 inch wheels as you do on Maki basically the 18 inches have more range 19 inches those rims might look nicer but they cost extra for those looks and they cost you in a Range because they're less aerodynamic so the 18 inch wheels on the California Route 1 help you in that respect it does include the panoramic glass roof as well as heated front seats but it doesn't have all of the other nice things in the premium package like the bno stereo and other things you'll have to get the premium and upgrade it to Extended range battery and all that to match it to do that but again at that point it's more expensive than this California Route 1 spec at sixty thousand dollars now let's get into the sporty Maki the GT so you can get the normal GT for 60 000 roughly or for 65 000 an extra five grand you can get the GT performance Edition this is going to take the GT which by the way is the fastest Machi or um the fastest base monkey 3.8 seconds 0-60 um standard all-wheel drive of course um so you know 3.8 seconds versus that base model being 6.3 the mid-range models we looked up with the all-wheel drive are 5.8 this one's 3.8 but we add GT performance we get a bigger front motor now we're down to 3.5 seconds 0 to 60. we get standard 20 inch wheels of summer Tires really you know better Performance Wheels but still they're gonna they're gonna be worse for range basically is the trade after making you get Ford performance seats which is cool you get front row head restraints a little bit more hardcore you get some cool aluminum design on the instrument panel and importantly you get Magna ride with the GT performance if you add this magnet rides are really comfortable suspension package I wish they offered it on Lower spec mockies but it only is on the available on the GT and you have to get the GT perform competition but if you add it it's cool also Mustang nightmoney Night pony package if you're a Mustang person um you know this is a cool cosmetic package it's debatable whether or not you want to say the Mustang monkey is a traditional Mustang because it's not a coupe and it's a crossover it's electric but that's besides the point I won't get into that fight basically this is a cosmetic package if you feel strongly about it and want to add that you can for 800 those are most of the important options you have your other standard things like cargo mats and in the interior protection package and a few different wheel choices I hope I've helped describe the wheels trade-offs you're making though bigger Wheels look cooler but they're more expensive and they cost you in range anyhow that's Maki new the big important options uh and trims to know about again sixty five thousand dollars you can add this add up the price a lot if you get a really expensive one we started at forty three thousand dollars for the select so hopefully this video gives you a good idea of what to expect for standard equipment what you get as you go up the ladder the trade-offs between premium California Route 1 optimizing for you know Comfort versus Range you can have the best of all worlds and get GT and even GT performance but then you're getting a car that's pretty expensive and not the most efficient remember the GT less efficient than the California Route 1 because of the bigger wheels and the juicier front motor so you know you get a faster car but it's going to have less range and be less efficient hopefully this video has been helpful if you are a Maki owner and I miss something glaring that you know of please feel free to comment if you're curious about something in the Maki buying process and you feel like I haven't answered it well also ask a question about that in the comments I hope this has been helpful I hope I haven't rambled on too long apologies if I have I've filmed a lot of videos of the Maki today so I'm gonna know this one and of course the other monkeys I've got in the drive for out of spec so I feel like I know this car well despite not having owned it I've driven so many different models of it but um that's monkey that's just the primer on it all the trim levels which one to buy how to know which one to buy for you hope that helps I've been Max without a spec guide and I'll see you in the next one bye [Music]
