on this episode I'm going to give you three great ways to memorize the law I [Music] remember when I started law school everybody kept telling me you can't memorize a lot you have to learn the law and now I know what they were referring to they were referring to rote memory and not memorization itself memorization is an important part of the learning process because how can you learn anything if you can't recall it in the future I'm going to give you three ways you can memorize the law better the number one and my favorite one is to use memory enhancement technique and my favorite technique is the low key or the mind palace or the memory palace this is actually what Sherlock Holmes the famous detective used to help him solve mysteries basically you associate what you want to learn to certain locations and the best way to do it is locations that you're familiar with for example your house or your bedroom or your friend's bedroom we can learn things better and faster when we link him to things that we already know if we link the things we want to learn to the different locations it helps us remember recall it better in the future now the technique is more complex than that but it's worth looking into the second way you can memorize the law is using flashcards now this is not my personal favorite I don't like using flashcards I tried a couple of times didn't work for me but the reason why it's on the list is because so many people swear by it and they love it so it had to make the list so if you are one of those people who loves flash bars I do want to recommend two things to you first make your own flashcards the process of making these flashcards is going to enhance your memory and accelerate your learning second don't copy down the whole rule statement on your car try to choose certain words that would trigger the rest of the sentence for you that also enhances your memory the third way to memorize the law is to listen to audio outlines now I did this throughout the time that I was in law school I did it from the very first semester I would listen to it on my way to school sometimes on my way to the gym or at the gym or you know before I went to sleep we have to be as crazy as I was I do want to recommend that you make your own audio outlines and you can do this by you know using any recording device nowadays everyone has a smartphone so you can just use your phone to record your voice there's something about our voice that makes us pay attention whether we love or hate our voice it's just something about it that makes us remember it more wait wait is that my voice no it's that what I sound like doing now if you think you don't have the time to do that then that's fine just listen to other people's outlines audio outlines and that's still great way to memorize the law now I'd love to hear from you which one of these strategies do you think is going to help you the most in memorizing the law or share with me one technique that you use to memorize the law comment below and let us know as always all the action happens over at prep tips accom so head on over there and when you're there make sure you become a prep upset insider by subscribing to our mailing list you'll get instant access to a very powerful audio training that I've done that helps you rewire your brain for success in law school stay strong and believe in yourself I know that you can do this you are well on your way to becoming a badass attorney
