hey youtubers I'm going to show you a simple procedure on how to eliminate the surging of your Tecumseh motor on your snowblower now this video is for snow blowers what they come say engine with the non adjustable carburetor now only do this procedure after you've eliminated all the obvious problems example carb rebuild float card gasket all those things if you've done all that and you still have a problem with your engine surging up and down at low speeds and it will idle then follow this procedure now this snowblower here with it comes a motor I had done all the obvious to the carburetor and still I had a problem with it surging at low throttle and it would not idle so first of all take off the carburetor cover there it's usually a bolt here two screws here by the carb and screw over here I've already taken them off and got to take off your choke knob over here and also disconnect the key wire that was hooked on to this terminal here now we're dealing with a non adjustable carburetor and what I mean by that is you cannot adjust it it's got no setting at the bottom here of the carburetor as you can see it's just the bowl nut like on this carburetor I've got as a spare one and there's no adjustment over here or that rubber cap is okay so here's what we have to do now to do this procedure first of all we're going to remove the little screw over here that's just tighten in there it's not an adjustable screw it's just there as a little air jet or something like that and as you can see it's got a little black cap on it now you can remove that cap with a flat screwdriver make sure you don't lose it because we're going to put it back on now with your screwdriver just simply go in and remove it now just simply remove the whole screw now here's what it's going to look like up close it's got a tiny wee hole at the tip here and a hole that goes right across now what I do is I have a little piece of wood with a wire from a wire brush which is a really small wire and I insert it into the tip here of the screw and the wire is going to go right through and you can see it in the holes that go across the screw there you can see the wire now I know that that's clean now what I do is I grab a small fuel line this one's a 3/32 inside diameter and I insert it onto the tip of the screw like that now don't plug the holes that go across the screw because you want the air to escape in there when you blow at the end of the line here now I'm going to blow out the end of the fuel line and you should hear the air escape through the little holes in the screw there now you should be able to blow air and you should be able to suck air through that screw and as you can hear there it's nice and clear now yesterday before I made the video I took the screw off because it wasn't running right and the hole was plugged I could not blow air or suck air through that screw so what I did is I used the small wire from the wire brush cleaned it put it back in and it was fine so now that I know it's not plugged I'm going to put it back in start the blower up and show you how she idles good it's not a guarantee that this is going to work every time on your snowblower but when you're at your ends with and you're not sure what to do you can always try this do not expand a little hole in there with a wire that's too big it's important that you use a small wire from a wire brush that will fit nice and snug in the small hole at the tip of the screw here so now I'm going to reinstall the small screw in there just push it in like that reach in there with a small screwdriver I'll tighten it too much just not get on there don't leave a loose either because it's going to come right off now to make it easier for yourself you can always remove the two quarter inch bolts here to remove this bracket so that it's not in your way now I'm going to reinstall the small cap that goes on to the screw and just push it in like that and that's it so I can't guarantee that this will always fix your problem but if you tried everything else then it doesn't hurt to do that so thanks again for watching make sure to subscribe if you haven't already and we'll see you next time
