[Music] [Laughter] [Music] hey what's up JG here so today we're gonna be taking apart an IKEA kitchen cabinet that I found in their discount section and then using those parts to install functional full-extension pullout shelves under my existing kitchen cabinets so no more getting down on my knees reaching back into the back of the cabinet to get something just pull it out read what I need and then slide it back in I'm gonna take it step by step so stick around and I'll show you just how you can do this project - assuming you've already gone to Ikea and located your cabinet which guys I highly recommend you go to their discounted section most of the time they put the showroom or display units in this discounted section because they have to change them out frequently there's so much wear and tear that goes on as customers come in and they test out the units and they pull and they poke and they scrape so from time to time they'll pull showroom and display units and they'll put them in a discount section and replace them with new ones so I highly recommend that you take the time to go to the discount section you can save a lot of money so the first thing that you're going to do is take off the parts that you're going to need for your project the parts that we need are the drawers so to remove the drawers simply slide out the drawers and apply upward pressure until you hear it click now wiggle it around a little bit as you push in on these slides here and then just take it right off you'll also be needing these parts as well and it's as simple as removing a few screws [Music] now the other side [Music] now for my application I'll need to remove the drawer front from the drawer side so to do that just pop off the side piece most people can do it with your fingernail next you'll use a Phillips head screwdriver and the screwdriver can be inserted here there's a little lever a latch I'm going to push up on that latch and then the screwdriver can be inserted in that hole now once it's inserted just twist counterclockwise and that's gonna pop the front off just like that repeat for the other side it's that simple now step 2 in the process is to remove the bottom which you just simply pull out it may require a little force make sure you pull it out evenly and many times the side will just come off if the sides don't come off on their own this back piece is held on by two small clips which can be pushed aside once we can disassemble the drawer we're left with the bottom the two sides the drawer front the back and the two slides for our purposes all we're going to need are the two slides because we're going to be making one really wide shelf for the bottom [Music] now I've already cut this piece to fit so I'll just slide this right in now this may require a little force and then the same thing for the other side so the next thing that we'll do is we'll take this drawer and the slides will install the slides inside the kitchen cabinet and then attach the drawer to the slides I've installed the Shelf back on to the slides I'm testing to make sure that everything fits okay so now I just need to measure the space between the outside of the slide and the wall and I'll install a piece of wood there that will hold the weight as the Shelf slides in and out now that we've checked for a good fit remove the drawer and install the slides [Music] now just install the drawer slides [Music] [Music] [Music] now for this next step remove the old connectors from the oil drawer facing [Music] next place the old facing connectors into the slot don't push them all the way in just let them rest we're going to use this place drink to mark the drill holes on the new drawer facing next place a piece of double-sided tape [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] next drill out the holes slightly deep within the depth of your screws I like to use blue painters tape to mark the depth let me know when to stop drilling now you can remove the double-sided tape [Music] and you have your holes pre-drilled in the exact spot that you need [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] that's it for now guys hope you've enjoyed the video thumbs up button if you liked it if you haven't already hit that subscribe button and until next time thanks for watching [Music] [Music]
