[Music] what's up guys is Nick Mira from internet money and today I'm gonna be showing you guys how to make melodic beats for the third time in a row but I'm gonna be using just a couple notes and the building are really good melody harmony off of those few couple notes so this will be a little more advanced than the other videos or it might not or it might not or it might just sound like all my other beats like you guys in the comments say also I'm going to be live-streaming me making beats on Twitch more now so I'll put my twitch on the screen right here and I want you guys to follow me on there and I'm gonna get up like the affiliate program and all that and once I have that subscribers would get like special access kits and chances to collab and extra videos so yeah with that being said let's get straight to this clip overuse design alright so basically I got a piano right here you know I'm just fear I do in every video and I'm gonna be making a simple melody with a couple notes and then I'm gonna be adding lower chords to that melody and just making it really complex so I actually have right here the Aeolian scale which is the minor scale and I put it on another pattern and I have ghost notes enabled so I'm gonna be copying this scale or going along these notes and the root note is a flat or whatever so I will go here I'll go a flat and then I will make a melody based off this so here goes nothing [Music] [Music] and even though this note right here is not in the scale it's a half-step so it's gonna sound out of place at first but once I add the chords it'll sound like a little jazzy and it'll be a nice little touch it'll be out of scale on purpose it won't make it much sense telling you but it'll sound good so just listen I'm gonna take these root notes right here then duplicate them below and then build chords off of them [Music] and now that I have all of this I'm going to take it up a notch and add some more notes higher up [Music] and I'm gonna transpose the whole melody just to give it a darker feel [Music] and actually I think for this beat I'm not going to use the little half-step cord just for the sake of this video it might be confusing to two people so this meet sounds better without it and the main thing about melodic beats is you want to have a lot of dynamic range in the frequencies so this whole pattern with the VST it has a lot of low frequencies and these lower notes here and then it also has higher frequencies so when adding layers we can really add whatever we want so I'm thinking about adding like a high-pitched Bell or something in the upper frequencies just to balance it out a little more only because the higher notes there's so little of them so I'm gonna go over here I'm gonna grab this we can actually delete the scale because we don't need that anymore but let's mess with this [Music] [Music] the sound and I'm gonna go over here grab these cords do control C and do control V and then do like a short stab sort of sound like a bell plug and I'm just gonna jazz this rhythm up a little bit I'm gonna move the top two notes to the right by half a beat and then add these little top nose [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and now from there we can just move on to the drums so I'm gonna get it a 808 right here excuse me and then I'm gonna follow the root notes of this melody so it goes F B sharp C sharp then D sharp so this is the notes so I just have to follow in between these frames so I'm gonna cut this one up by doing shift and then holding shift and doing right click down actually I'm gonna extend this before and then cut it up doing shift left click down [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] just gonna add some simple high hats and with melodic beats you really don't want to go crazy on the drums so I just suggest having some simple bounce and not like crazy snare rolls and everything all over the place because you don't want the listener the listener or artist to be overwhelmed by all the noises that are going on so I'm just gonna add a tiny snare roll and a clap there actually I might do a rim I'm gonna do a round out of fact I'm gonna change the 808 to [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] now I'm just gonna take off my headphones and mix this beat real quick and then lay it out and we have ourselves a simple melodic beat excuse my voice cracks I haven't had water um but anyway I think in the next video I'm gonna show you how to make like even crazier melodies with more chords and more variations in them so there's some more to learn from but I hope you guys took a lot from this video alone and with that being said I'm gonna go mix this beat right now you'll see me but um and lay it out and then play the beat so see [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]
