[Music] thank you hey everyone in this video we are going to create a spur gear and its gear to profile inside the SolidWorks so let's get started but before that we need some parameters to make the gear so I'm going to use this app over here known as gear calculator so let's open it so this is the amp and in this app we can plug in the parameters and we can get another uh supporting parameters to make the Gear 2 profile so to use this you can either select with circle diameter or the module so what I like to do is set the number of teeth to 18 and then uh just plug in the pitch Circle diameter which I want so suppose it is 50 I'll click OK and then I will switch to module and then you can change the number of teeth however you want so that that's how I do it uh so these are all the parameters which I will save now so now let's make the gear let's open up our SolidWorks click on new I mean part in this uh you can choose any one of the plane I will choose the right plane sketch in it and the first thing we want to make is the pit Circle so our pit Circle diameter is 50. so I will grab a circle and let's make our PCD which is with circle diameter from that app so our pit Circle diameter is 50 50 mm so let's go to smart dimension click here 50 and done uh I also like to make pit Circle in construction line and now the second circle is our base Circle so let's create our base Circle and its diameter is going to be 46 point nine eight four six actually you don't have to go that precise but if you have we can just uh plug 46.98 I'll just put it like that and then we will make another Circle which is our addandam Circle addendum so let's make that so our addendum diameter is 55.556 let's make another Circle and this is going to be the root Circle and this circle is 43 0.0556 and those are all the measurements we will be needing okay so now let's get start with making our involute profile for our Gear 2 so we need uh line and we are going to draw that on the base Circle randomly over anywhere let's draw some lines one two three and four we need four lines and then we are going to select each and every one of those lines and then we are going to make them equal in length uh now let's go ahead and make this length uh one thing to make sure that make its length and not this vertical length so make it a little bit inclined like this parallel to it now the dimension of this should be our circular page which is 8.726647 again you don't have to go that precise but I like to do it now you're done with one step of this uh next we are going to create some tangents to this base circle from that point so select your center line again now click over here uh hover over there and you will now get this reference line you can just click over there this is one way of creating a line tangent to any circle with the help of a reference line so it will always remain tangent like this so next what we can do is we can again go ahead and take a Center Line uh we can just randomly draw a line this is another way of making it tangent so select this select this circle and click over here on the tangent so now that line is also tangent to it um now we have to do that or the other two as well so I'll just use the reference because it is fast and it is easy let's do this for that point also okay and now what you want to do is you want to take this length which is this one let's copy this by Ctrl C now let's take the smart Dimension and we will take this first line which we made make it inclined and we will paste that over here because this is the first line uh I think we cannot paste it like this let me just click on this iron again okay let's copy that let's paste it over here and now that length is exactly what we want now the second line let's do the same but this time when we paste the value as this is the second line we will multiply it by 2 uh this is the third line we will multiply this by three so basically what we are doing is we are taking the circular page and we are doubling its distance so let's do the to this to the next line and this one is the fourth line point two three and this is four so paste the circular pitch value and multiply that by four and now what we are going to do is we are going to go over here and click on this line option click over here and just join all the endpoints like this now the more lines you draw the more precise your curve we will get as you can see even if the the smallest uh change over here at that end was making change on this profile so 4 is a good amount of lines or Precision you can say so as you can see we have already gotten our gear to the profile over there so now what we have to do is we have to make a Center Line like this let's make it at its Center over here and now let's take another Center Line and we want it to be at the center of this two so to do that I think we will just [Music] we can create another line like this on top of it and then we can create another Center Line like that now this line is important because this is our mirror axis uh so we just divided that line into two if you know any uh fast method do mention that in the comments below um and yeah um now we are going to mirror that so go to the mirror entities and we are going to mirror this curve about this Center Line and press okay so we got our gear tooth profile over there now what we can do is we can go out of the sketch mode and I like to create an another sketch so right plane let's create the sketch two and now we will make the tandem Circle let's convert The Entity and then I think this was the base Circle oops I think I clicked on wrong button so convert that entity uh we also we don't need the pitch Circle over there um now let's make them let's convert their entities and now from over here we can um we can simply just drag this down till over there and now if something like this happened just click on rebuild let's sketch sketch that new sketch again let's just hold and drag this down below there let's click on rebuild let's go back to the editing sketch now you're almost done now what we can do is we can simply just extrude it so just to check again we can go to evaluate measure so is this our root so our root diameter is 43.60 yep 43.05 so round of eight to zero six so this is our root Circle and this should be our addendum 55.56 yes it is so now we can just extrude one tooth or we can just make another copies of this so I think I will do that in the sketch or here only so let's go ahead and trim entities I am in the powertrain let's just stream all of those uh let's change this Outer Edge as well so we now have this over here now we have a single tooth so what we'll do now is by the way there is also a clearance Circle but I think that we don't need that so it's optional uh now what we are going to do is we are going to make a circular sketch pattern so we are going to do that around or this point I guess it selects the point itself okay we selected the point now entities to pattern or this now as we have set it on the 18 so 18 number of teeth so we need to make 18 copies of it so now there are total 18 beats on this gear click on OK and now we have our gear so we can just extrude this you can select all of the gear tool like this okay and now you can select how how big you you want those gears to be I will select the five mm bit and good enough okay so now you can hide the old sketch now as you can see we got our gear ready uh you can add fillet over here if you want also to increase the resolution you can go ahead and click on this gear icon go over here uh and in image quality you can increase the image quality from over here okay and now as you can see the gears are very gear are very smooth to look but this also increases your performance so one last thing I want to do is I want to create a hole for a shaft so I will create a 5 mm diameter hole let's create a 5mm diameter hole over there I will now do an extrude cut so we will cut through all and our gear is done so that's how you create a spur gear and now to test this if this gear works perfectly fine uh we can do a solid simulation but uh really test them I will 3D print them and show you all how this gear mates and how good their meshing is [Music] so here is the result of the 3D printed gears that we made and they printed pretty well and they are machine quite perfectly as you can see there is a continuous rotation between the both gears and if I rotate one of the ears another one rotates with it um I keep rotating this one and right close to it is a mesh nicely so if you learned something from this video like this video And subscribe for more such content share it with your friends and thank you so much for watching bye
