[Music] what's up students it's your sense PGT and we're back for another class today I'm going to show you how to make some drippy corn so drippy corn has sped up my grain colonization time twice as fast so I think it's worth sharing to you guys can try it out for yourself may be asking PGT what is strippy corn it's corn that's infused with corn syrup it's like similar to Inception but with corn the guy that came up with this is stun in 21 on IG and the recipe was modified by Whitebeard micology the idea is that coating the corn with corn syrup encourages melium culture to colonize it when it lands on the grains assuming that my slim was already accustomed to corn syrup as a nutrient from the original medium which could be liquid culture or agar stay tuned until the end to find out how good jupy corn is for ingredients you're going to need a pressure cooker going to want some popcorn Gander some quart jars I'm using 10 for this example some corn syrup and shock glass or a measuring cup since I like saving you guys some time I'm going to leave a time stamp for this little cheat sheet here for the drippy corn you can pause the video and screenshot it if you want to save it so to start making drippy corn you're going to need some popcorn I have 4 lbs of popcorn here which just going to yield about 10 quart jars worth of green spawn you're also going to need some corn syrup pure corn syrup is best but you can use Carol syrup if that's all you can find you can also substitute deer corn for popcorn if you prefer I find it works just as well just the deer corn tends to be a bit mushier after cooking so now you're going to remove the trivet from your pressure cooker and pour in your popcorn fill the pressure cooker with water until it's about 3 in above the popcorn more water is fine but too little water can cause the popcorn to burn if it's going to absorb the water and expand here comes a drippy part for drippy corn we're going to take the corn syrup and we're going to drip this into the shot glass and if you don't have a shot glass you can just use two tablespoons of corn syrup at the same amount now we'll take our shot glass and we'll just drizzle this all into our corn and now we're infusing the corn with the corn syrup close the pressure cooker and we're going to cook this at 15 psi for 30 minutes right so we're turn on our heat to high wait until this gets up to pressure and now we set a timer for 30 minutes now this process is going to hydrate our popcorn and help eliminate some endless spores from our grain once the 30 minute timer passed turn off the heat and let the pressure cooker depressurize naturally until the Safety Lock falls down next you're going to carefully open up the pressure cooker it's going to be hot so definitely be careful when you're handling this drain the popcorn into the colander and we're going to let it cool and dry for a few hours until it's okay to touch you can also leave it overnight if you want and while it's cooling you can clean out the pressure cooker cuz you're going to need to use it again to sterilize the grain jars once the popcorn is cooled we're going to fill the jars so about 3/4 of the away full leaving room at the top so that it's easier for shaking at this point you can add in a handful of vermiculite to each jar if you have some that can help absorb excess moisture however this is optional and I usually just prepare to recoring without the vermiculite also prep some grain jar lids here they have a/4 in hole in them with a microl filter patch on them you can also use micr tape too now I'm going to place the lids on the jars and put them in the pressure cooker with the tri it in place now to fit 10 jars into the pressure cooker you want to use seven Wide Mouth Jars on the bottom layer and three small mouth jars on the top after filling the pressure cooker we're going to run this at 15 psi for about 90 to 120 Minutes I find 90 minutes is sufficient but you can extend it to 120 Minutes to ensure thorough sterilization once the pressure cooking is done turn off the heat again let it cool down and depressurize Once Again Naturally when it's it's done we're going to remove the chars and shake them to distribute the moisture I leave them out for a day or so for the moisture level to settle down and then they'll be ready for inoculation so here they are a day later and I'm going to be inoculating these today there's still a little bit of moisture left in the jar but that'll be okay you don't want any water to be pulling there but if it's pressed up against the glass and it's a little bit wet that's fine you can even give it a little shake before you start so I'm going to go ahead and speed up this part a little bit this is the general process of how I inoculate the jars I start by wiping down the jars with 70% isopr alcohol then I would loosen up the lids now I'll start by preparing the plate of my celium I'm going to unwrap the plate here and I'm going to go ahead and Flame sterilize my scalpel and with that ready I'll let it cool down a little bit and then we're going to cut slices into the agar wedges the crisscross shapes and then I'll carefully just Chuck the agar wedges into each jar I do about half a plate for each jar and I'll split them up with one plate to every two jars and I have a total of three cultures that'll be going in across the six stars that I'm testing here and of course after you inoculate I CL them up and I give them a really good shake to try and get the myum everywhere get the inoculation points everywhere then now set these on a Shelf at room temperature and we'll watch how they you know go off the next few days all right here are the jars about 6 days after we binocul them as you can see my slim is starting to take off and some of the jars were getting a lot of my slim growth all over the place and in some jars we just didn't get any growth at all now I think this is mostly attributed to the culture just being very old these are some old agar plates I had sitting around for way too long and I didn't want to get rid of them completely so I wanted to just you know try and use them and spawn them but sometimes they just don't take off and that's okay that's why we make multiple jars as you can see a lot of the other jars in the back here are doing well and we just got just two of these shars that are the slowest of them all but I'll keep an eye on this and we'll check back here in a couple days and see how the jars are continue along and here we are 9 days after inoculation and as you can see some of the jars are practically fully colonized and this is probably the fastest I've seen colonization go in terms of uh grain jars and grain spawn typically to get a jar fully colonized it takes on average like 3 to 4 weeks but I'm very surprised at how quickly these came along this one's not fully ready yet but we're getting close to there and as you can see on the side some of the the jars that didn't take off well the culture just didn't take off at all so we're going to just ignore these two jars here and jars in the back very colonized almost ready I would say another day or so you can just spawn these out I use that the jars that they're the healthiest now I had some jars that are a little bit lagging behind yeah see that that's very healthy by some growth right there and then these jars here are straggling behind this culture might have been a bit older and a little bit weaker but they're they're taking off for sure I mean 9 days you get this much colonization that's pretty good so I'm going to give them some more time and see if these will catch up to getting fully colonized and and we'll be back here in a little bit here it is 11 days after I'll be spawning the ones that are ready like this then the ones that aren't ready I'm going to leave them to sit for a little bit longer so they tend to finish off around like day 18 day 20 and the ones with the stal culture never really took off so it's very important that the heal of your culture will also determine what your colonization will look like you can speed this up if your cultur is already used to Corn being the grain nutrient from previous grows that are cloned out I've got a friend that grew his cultures out with corn and he shared with me a plate of the culture and I tested it and they took off the fastest in the drippy corn compared to my cultures that were kind of used to Millet as the main grain spawn so the big idea here is to spawn out your drippy corn grains fruit them then clone your fruits and then run them back on drippy corn and you'll get some insane colonization speeds anyhow that's a dppy corn Tech it's pretty simple pretty fast colonization and those are things that we love in myology will you give it a try let me know in the comments about your experience and what you think of it so that's all for the lesson don't forget to give a thumbs up if you enjoyed the video and subscribe if you haven't already I'll see you guys in the next lesson
