Geotechnical engineer here. Big time dirt guy. Glad to see someone else like dirt as much as I do! I will say, I have never seen someone seperate clay using your "wet" method. We use a sieve analysis to separate pebbles/sand/silt/clay. Each one is segragated by screen size openings. If you can find a used one, it would ramp up your production. Good luck!

My only complaint is how to do this without any man made tools. You are using a strainer, buckets, and bottles. How would this be achieved with no man made tools/equipment?

if you're looking how to turn dirt into clay you're watching the right video we're gonna show you how to do that I got some red dirt and some normal dirt and what we're gonna do is we're gonna add some water to them put them into our containers and let them settle a little bit and work it out from there the first step is to add a bunch of water to your dirt and swirl it around as intensely as you can because the trick is to get the clay suspended in the water okay so once the clay is suspended in that water we're gonna pour that off into our container leaving all the heavy rocks sand and organic material in here then we might have a little bit on the top of when we first pour it in we're gonna sieve off that that's why I got the sieve and if we toss the liquid from container to container will slowly get a more and more pure mix so if you want to see that stay tuned it's gonna pass the camera over here get started all you need are a couple buckets with your with your soil or dirt and at least two bottles per bucket of dirt and the reason being is because when I pour it in there I'm at the pour it back and forth add the water and then we want to stir this up as much as we can all the heavy stuff will settle and the play should stay suspended in the liquid some soils contain more clay than others to increase your chances you do want to try to locate soil that the hut contains more clay and something else perhaps at a river perhaps if you look on the sides of mountains you can see the different layers this is the red layer for example which a lot of clutter he's made some and then the next bucket over here is just the normal dirt this is just normal dirt I've just pulled from the side of the road could be anything in here but we're gonna see exactly how much clay is in here by exciting it stirring it as much as you can and then start in the pore and sip this off it's almost done and then we're going to pour this off [Music] our normal dirt first we'll sit on the next round as you can see inside the bucket there he's leaving behind all the heavy stuff rocks stuff that isn't clay just get rid of all that now we'll do the red mix make sure to pour it slowly so you don't get any of that sand to the sand stain left behind the bottom we're gonna leave that behind because the good stuff is inside this water okay here we go then we'll do we'll come back in about 20 minutes and see how they've settled put the sieve on here and get rid of that trash on the top and then anything left over on the bottom I'm gonna try to keep inside this ball I'm sure you wanna grow here just try to pour this off carefully you only get too much of that [Music] that chocolate milk but your salmon though she's gonna look gun just that's what you're purifying we took more sand out of it dear organic crap out of there and now this is pretty much it once that settles you're gonna be left with pretty much solid clay you can refine this even further this is the normal dirt sand again we're gonna leave behind all the crap on the bottom hi baby we'll just take the liquid as you can see the normal dirts got considerably less clay than the red soil I'll show you the end result okay now gonna let that settle until we can clearly see that the clay is stopped moving and then we're gonna mash it up and stick it on our pillowcase get a really fine product to show you okay so it's been about an hour as you can see the water level and the clay here a little bit we can let this settle more but because we're putting them in the pillowcase the water is going to naturally seep out anyways in the last step so we're gonna go ahead and pour these in starting with the red clay I'm gonna pour into this pillowcase pour some of this water but I'm gonna have to keep some of it so I could get this jazz I just started pulling out gonna swirl this around so I get most of us into the pillowcase if you want what's left over as you can see there's a bit of a lump in there and we're gonna leave this hung up somewhere all the water will drip out of it and you'll be left with a nice lump of clay we're gonna go ahead and do that with the other one as well this one was actually all dirt I'm gonna go ahead and put in a cloth bag because it works the same as the pillowcase it's gonna dump off the top water we've got a straight to the clay straight in the bag with the bag do its trick a little bit of crap left in there you don't want that same again just tie it up and leave it the water will come out you can squeeze it to try to help it along but best just leave it let nature run its course come back in about 12 hours is sort of the most you need maybe 24 hours and you'll have a lump of clay here so we will come back in just a second right so it's been about 12 hours it was very windy last night so we actually had this dry bit too hard we're gonna open it up see what it's like and we can always dip it in the water there to make it more malleable this one was the red clay [Music] [Music] solid clay y'all get a little bit more wet red clay we know there's clay in there this is just a projector okay this is just a normal dirt that it's just a normal dirt clay you see very clean but same again because I let it dry too long it needs water a little bit of moisture in there to get your normal clay consistency if you let it soak in the water okay so this one was the red dirt and this one was the normal dirt as you can see when I cut a section of this here that cross section oh look at that nice clay lots and lots of beautiful clay do some molding with that solid clay [Music] how to turn dirt episode of one and do this again if you want I find some clay I actually made a lot more clay from the normal dirt than I thought we would actually really good for your skin till you want to rub this on as a face mask your mini amphitheater with natural clay swimming pool underground green house our last video check it out there you go guys there's a lump of clay from dirt okay so there you go there's the end result that's from the red clay as you can see there and that's from the normal dirt very surprising we actually got more it can be done quite simple you can refine it further and further but that's the process well it takes a couple minutes hope you enjoyed it make sure to get a like make sure to share with your friends
