How to make Chicken Thighs with Fig Sauce

Hey y'all it's fig season again, and my husband and i went down to Eutaw Alabama and he picked them fresh off of our aunt and uncles fig tree, thanks again Larry and Margaret. So today i'm going to make chicken thighs with fig sauce let's get started. Okay, here i have five nice size chicken thighs that i have washed and removed a lot of that excess fat off we're just gonna season these up right quick i'm just going to season these up with some salt and pepper flip it over and repeat i have my pan heating up i'm going to add a little vegetable oil make sure our pan is really hot we're going to do put our skin side down first gonna brown these up i have my pan on high if i didn't say so that's nice, gonna flip it over and do this side for about three minutes or so just so it browns up a little we're not trying to cook it through turn that down that's been about two maybe three minutes and take these out and set them aside and we're going to make our sauce i'm going to pour some of this um fat off we're going to save a little bit that's flavor left a little bit of the fat i'm going to add about about two and a half tablespoons of butter butter but it makes things better melt this down turn your heat down to about a three you don't want your butter to burn and we have these beautiful figs i'm just going to put them in this is in between 25 and 30. we're going to cook these slowly and make them tender make sure you cover them it might take about 15 minutes or so for them to get as soft as we were soft as we would like them to get i'm going to smash them to help them along. See how soft they are getting. okay it's gonna help them cook a little faster okay that's been 15 minutes but i'm going to take them put them it in my chopper slash processor because i want to break them down a little bit make them a little more a little smoother than they are while you're doing that make sure you turn your pan all the way low you don't want to burn what you have here yeah let's get this down nice and smooth and over here i have some chicken broth that i've already made with just a few bouillon cubes and some water just broke them down it's chicken flavored a little bit to help them go here i want to do this in your ear so i'm going to do this and i'll be right back nice and smooth i'm going to get this back in the pan all right so so you have been hanging out with me all that time huh that's okay so now we're going to season it up gonna add some pepper onions grated and i like to grate it because get more flavor out of the onion this is a sauce so we want it smooth two gonna add some garlic this is a couple of nice sized ones some more let me see that [ __ ] taste it i have some balsamic vinegar i'm just gonna add about a capful have some honey just get some in there that might have been about three tablespoons that's really flavorful i'm going to add a little bit more honey a little bit um more honey and about a pinch of salt that might be about four tablespoons that i added total heaping pinch of salt i'll let that simmer for about five minutes i'm also going to add a little bit of red pepper just to give it a little kick oh look what almost did that would have been a disaster just a little kick if you like chicken really spicy go ahead and kick it up another notch but this right here is delicious mm-hmm my oven is ready i have it on 375 i'm gonna get this chicken in another dish and pour this over not right got our chicken in our dish let me see how i can do it you can see it i'm just going to i'm gonna let this cook for about 40 about 45 minutes and if you like your chicken sweet add a little more sugar a little more honey or whatever you like to use for sweetener but i like kind of mine kind of savory so we're going into the oven and i'll see you in about 45 minutes i'm going to cover this with a piece of foil alrighty it's been 45 minutes look at that sauce is still nice and thick we're going to let it cool a little bit and then we're going to taste it yes yes still piping hot just going to give a taste here there you go um is nice and tender delicious you gotta give it a try if you don't have fresh figs you can always choose dried figs well thank you for watching and remember to pray and then pray some more pray for her pray for him pray for you pray for them pray for us don't stop praying pray and don't forget to give me a thumbs up you can go ahead and do that right now i'll wait thank you subscribe and tap that bell if you haven't and if you have thank you so much share with friends and family and comment i would love to hear from you and until next time you stay safe you stay well and you stay blessed and remember if you keep looking i'll keep cooking later
