what is good you guys a sliced out from lifestyle datacom today I wanted to bring a video to show you guys how to build melodies from scratch but build them in a way to where each part fits and an easy like three to four step process that I like to think when creating them there's a couple different ways I do it but I wanted to share this way because it's very easy it kind of lets your brain and not be overwhelmed by trying to create these advanced melodies and take it step by step so let's get into it and the easiest way I found is to kind of do this three-step process and you could try it out and see if it works for you there's a bunch of different techniques I use but for this to make it easy for you to watch is a four-step process we're going to set an initial melody we're gonna fill the gaps we're gonna add chords and then we're gonna add textures alright so since I said we're an F minor we have scale highlighting open in omnisphere I have a guitar open it's just this guitar right here and we're gonna go into the piano roll and we're gonna come up with some initial melody so I'm just gonna try to find some notes that sound good I'm gonna want to pick probably four we're gonna be at about 140 for the BPM so I want to pick four initial notes for the melody right the initial melody I kind of want to go off of and then I'm gonna do what I call fill the gaps to kind of keep this easy and you'll see how quickly we can start to create some cool melody and advanced melody so let's get into it alright so since we're an F let's go ahead and just start on F and then let's build from here and we have all these notes to select from so we can kind of just go off I know most of my videos I'm doing it by hand on the MIDI keyboard and just round me coming up but I want to use ghost notes to show you guys easier ways to do it right so all we're gonna do is kind of go off ear and find something I kind of want it to be darker and I know I definitely want to go from this note and go up so let's go find some different notes and I'm just doing this randomly so let's see we go to do okay I like this so C sharp is cool C's cool so let's go over on something [Music] [Applause] see I just changing these gives a different tone right this is more evil or a dark I should say so now we kind of have something and this is what I'm calling the initial melody so for over here we can actually go ahead and repeat this and then we can bring down this note to here or here let's see sounds pretty good dude so let's add like a passing note dirt [Music] let's go something like that and then over here maybe a passenger [Music] cool so I would call this the initial melody now we're going to go into the step I like to call filling in gaps so you see that this is very spread out right we need to fill in gaps so that's pretty much we have gap here we have gaps here so we're just gonna start to fill in the gaps is what I call it with smaller notes so let's just go see and find some notes that sound cool I'm just gonna randomly click them see what we get [Music] okay so I know we can probably do like a little run right here so let's fill in a gap let's just see what we come up with [Music] okay that sounds pretty good let's keep going let's fill in some more gaps let's start at the top it's ad like a top melody all right let's randomize these a little bit to give it some variety and strum it like that melody let's switch it up over here let's go higher it sounded good and just fill in some more gaps and maybe come up with something here [Music] [Applause] that sounds Oh [Music] and now you could hear that there's needs to be something in here too [Music] well as like a push poll I like that that sounds crazy [Music] that's fire all right so the next thing I said that we're gonna go ahead and do is actually add some chords in so let's go into well maybe we could add guitar chords let's see let's go into omnisphere and let's just add in some chords so I'm actually going to get rid of the scale highlighting so I could see just the notes we were using here so let's build off of this so I know F is here so let's just build let's see [Music] I'm just building off my ghost notes and going by ear so let's stretch this over [Music] this probably needs to go up [Music] strum this random isaac and then let's go change actually what it's the preset [Music] put that in a mixer track and I'm going to cut out the lows some of the midrange - it's just gonna be a background effect and let's go ahead and actually invert these bottom notes [Music] right sounds better let's lower there and then now we can add either like an additional melody or we can add in some textures and I think for this I probably just want to add in like a bell or something so let's go find like a bell something weird like a textured Bell this might be cool just something to kind of balance it out [Music] that's our school [Music] South though okay so I want to layer one last thing let's go into on this fear and let's layer our cords with I actually have no idea what I want maybe a pad [Music] [Music] that sounds cool let's actually pan this one over here pan this to the right and then play them all together like this so that sounds good what I'm gonna do is come over here and I'm going to split this and then we're gonna render it and add some effects and that's going to be the last part it's like effects and textures so let's make this a longer loop [Applause] [Music] cool so now we can actually hit ctrl a ctrl alt C and this is going to render it out so we're going to render it out we're gonna mess with some pitch and then we're going to put an effect chain on it and it'll sound cool so let's see if we can get if we pitch it up or down [Music] yeah I want to add a now and now I'm here now I like doing this because then it makes me want to add like something else usually so I want to add some type of like lead or something I'm gonna probably go with the flu cuz I'm basic let's go into carbon and let's get one of my favorite flutes ever let's add a flute Mele [Music] oh that's fire alright let's add that in think of something like that [Music] oh I'm nice I usually mess up to fire that's fire okay so that's going to come in and then it'll go out on the second part so that sounds good and now let's take all of these I probably should have rendered it with two flute but it's all good we'll keep that like that so let's just I mean this would have to be better organized but for the sake of time let's just route them all to this track and I'm gonna go ahead and load in a plug-in preset and I'll show you guys what I use it's it's a chain preset I like to use so let's just here before and after so here's before and that's name this bag okay so here's before I'm gonna do after so all it is is well a soft clipper shouldn't be on there don't know why that's on there it's a little bit of unstable alright some reverb some s1 shuffler actually which is a little bit different than s1 so I'm EQ cutting out a little bit of lows and then a wave shaper and the only reason I use a wave shapers cuz it kind of added like not only volume but it added like this weird texture to it and like this kind of like sizzle in the background I guess you could say not sizzle but like static which I liked so I like how this sounds so let's go ahead and see how the finished product is [Music] all right so I hope you guys picked up something from this tutorial like I said this was my easy three to four step process one of them that I like to use if you guys want to see a few were the other ones that I like to use and you like this video drop a comment down below and leave a thumbs up you guys can follow me on all social medias at lifestyle did it make sure to hit my site lifestyle didn't come for everything else other than that subscribe to your boy push notifications thanks much [Music]
