How to Locate Bluegill Beds and How to Catch Them

hey guys what's going on just got done fishing and when I loaded the boat up I realized I didn't do an intro to the video so in today's video we're gonna be doing some bluegill fishing and and some tips on how to do that and where to look for them so if you're interested in that stay tuned you won't be disappointed hey guys what's going on just caught my first fish I realized I had my GoPro in the camera mode so hey whatever but using that same setup that we were using the other week that we talked about in the video I got that bobber about 3 foot of leader to a number 6 hook with the worm on it literally just caught about a 10 inch right here and thought I was recording but a rookie mistake won't let it happen again lauder temp is sixty eight point two degrees so the fish should be up on their beds and we've caught them here before and done pretty well but you know just caught my first one just pulled up here made by a third cast now when they're on the beds they're kind of the pickier than other times you only got about there's one I call him when I was moving that bobber when they're on the beds you either get one right away if you don't get one right away you flip them flip another one back in there plug about dandy that's a pretty that's a pretty fish about an eight eight nine inch bluegill or actually keeping some today had somebody say they wanted some fish so Orion catches fish I got bad guys in there hopefully we can put a bag of fish in there that's two fish on my arm let's see if we can't get another one I'm charity here like I was saying before I was rudely rudely interrupted this type of year when the fish are on their beds they're only in a spot about the size of a of a basketball so you kind of want your you know you if the wind is not blowing you kind of want to move it because if it's not in that area the size of the basketball you won't get a bite unless you've already caught one there then you definitely won't get a bite there but today's the winds moving a little bit it's not fast enough for my fancy so every now and then I'll move it about a foot I want that weightless worm fall down now the weightless part is the most important part I don't care what kind of Bob are using ah well as long as it's not a slip bobber you need to have a stick bobber or a torpedo type bobber like this where the line doesn't slip and that'll get you going pretty good we're about a third [Music] I was like this like kind of kind of weedy they put some grass carp in here and some other chemicals it seems to be doing an okay job the fish though really like the weeds and if the water wasn't so murked up I would try to show you where the beds are at now when you're the easiest way to locate beds is to just turn your trolling motor up high and start looking in you know three foot of water to you know three to you know inches of water three foot two inches of water I thought that's where you're gonna find most of your bluegill beds and the fun part of our bluegill beds is they'll come back there year after year about the same time of year about the same water conditions now you know early summer versus late summer they may not be there you know all summer long but they will be there at the same time like right now it's May I had a picture of some big red ear and bluegill and I looked at the date and it was May 15th or something like that well it's mid-may we're in there plus or minus a week and oh yeah I hope there's a bike we missed him I wasn't yeah we got my work anyway plus or minus oh you know a week of within that time seems to be doing pretty well so far at least the big ones are up right now we have a few other spots that we can go try to but this is the main water now off the torpedo bomber like this I don't know if you guys can see it but when I cast out and that thing comes about within a two foot height of the water I kind of like to put my hand on my reel and stop that bobber yeah the bobber is gonna make a little bit bigger of a noise one answer so water but what it does is it flips that loopers flip set that's another good one it flips that worm back behind the bobber so you don't get as much chance to catch the tangle up I say that when my bombers tangled up but hey that's what it alright for this one there's another good one not a really pretty blue gill you know like that's about as big as they get in this lake that's about as big as you'd ever want to catch so hopefully you guys can see it but I mean that's pretty much what we're after today that and some big old red ear or shell crackers as people in the South : so yep however I did see a big old school of something I think they're mixed bluegill crappie and a few bass mixed in there too out in the middle of the lake I couldn't convince them to bite so I'm on the Panoptix the old live scope I was a light spot up and there right where I cast it that looks a lot like some bluegill beds should I get a little bit out of the wind kind of doing what we did last time just flow a little bit real and both ground on the next spot I almost look like a bite that's a bike oh that was about I know a lot about just anything I had it [Music] there go oh yeah that's a good rule oh yeah so I look really good-looking bluegill come underneath the tree well got some trash going on here but hey whatever let's see if we can't get another one up in there oh there that's all that there's another one we might have to drop the poles whoo back back really nice fish that's a really good looking bluegill now that area right up in there as a big light spot bluegill seem to like to spawn underneath an overhanging limbs like that I do really well there's another bite I think I lost my rook a lot in there it's all right where my hooks go yeah well just take someone with that thanks dad now it's a summary time that's how you do the palm rot go in one way back out you got yourself a loop there you take your loop and you just make a simple shoe not don't let go so you got your simple knot there and you take your hook or your bait or whatever you're using you pull it through should look something like that then you watch your lawn down so you don't so you don't burn it and then you cut the tag in and right there it's easiest not die in my book anyway and it works the best for me three loops about another two-foot leader two and a half foot leader on your nice big juicy worm thread it up then winger in there there's a bike like old now you can't get better stick bobbers and you know the old Walmart special and I'd be lying to you if I said I didn't prefer some of the better ones but at the same time this has always worked and will almost always put fish in the boat for you just like that make two rods in there you can't touch the fish everybody knows that he also getting twice the trouble ooh how that won't let go he just gave up on it said no thank you I don't know how he missed it ain't nothing much to hold on to there anyway see I told you guys I don't want to really like that color bobber I just lost it there you see me jump that's why I don't I got should be almost my back auntie fish [Music] at least be a bite hold me up there's body call my shower I call my shop I gotta know if this have to fish great on fish doofus no he almost can't plan that any better almost can't play on that any better tosses many rods toss to a fish well guys we're gonna try to catch one more fish and I actually just got fight I think oh he came off we're gonna try catch one more fish for the cooler and then I think that's gonna be a that'll be a good way to end the video with one more fish so here goes nothing well guys I think that's gonna be it for today caught the last one here it's good size bluegill
