How To Layer Vocals (from 1 lead vocal)

so from the last video we released i showed you how to make clean vocals completely from scratch now i want to show you how to turn that one vocal into multiple vocal layers so we can add more excitement to the song so the first way to layer a vocal is by adding chorus effect chorus is changing the timing of the vocal so that we can hear it on the sides as well as the front so what this is going to do is give you an overall more full vocal even if you start with one vocal so do is duplicate this track so that we have the same exact plugins that we mixed with and we're gonna bring this down and hold option bring this layer down below all the plugins we're gonna put modulation chorus and we're gonna put the mix all the way up at a rate of .033 and intensity all the way up and we're just going to bring this volume down until it's at a good range i'm learning how to beat by myself asking stories about you to see how i be at your age you said that i can only see for myself at least layer the vocals so we're going to call this like full vocal layer another thing is i want like these punches at the end of the phrases and we call those overdubs so we're going to duplicate again and we're just spreading it into the left and right but it's saying the same words right at the same time it's just a little bit off and that's what chorus is doing just a few milliseconds off and that's why we can hear it in the sides the next way is by pitch shifting now i'm going to show you like five different plug-ins that you can use from this i think this is one of my favorite things to do on all vocals here let's just open up a audio track with nothing on it we're gonna bring this down turn the volume down a little bit i'm learning how to be by myself so the first plugin i want to to duplicate the first track again and we are going to bring down all the vocals let's just mute all this and let's do ad-libs i'm going to show you how to create them from scratch all we're going to do is put an echo watch how cool this is we're gonna have it on one fourth and we're gonna mess with is the feedback and wet i'm learning how to be by myself i'm learning how to beat by myself so then after the echo what we can do is add an eq and let's just take out some highs let's take out some lows put it in the background i'm learning how to beat by myself learning how to beat by myself and then after that you can put golden modulation and a tremolo to make it go auto pan left and right we can do it something like this rate of one i'm learning how to be by myself lighting up the depth so it doesn't go far left and right it just kind of goes in the middle left and right i'm learning how to be by myself [Music] we can get rid of certain parts that we don't want repeated like i don't yeah ego tripping sometimes the best creations so that's how you can make your own ad libs to give you some more vocal layers and one thing i like to do with ad-libs especially if there's auto-tune on the song i like increasing the auto-tune just a bit i'm learning how to be by myself learning how to be by my story's about you to see how i be at your range it gives it a different variation i think
