How to Keep Green Grass in Your Chicken Run

good morning or good day whatever it is for you thought I'd do a quick update here not an update but a tip for you people have chickens you can start off with your chicken field putting chickens out here you've got some nice green lush grass and chickens love it get your chickens eat grass and then what happens yeah they eat everything what happens when it rains you get this muddy mess it stinks what are you gonna do if you free-range them you risk losing them the coyote foxes dogs hawks owls yeah even neighbors once in a while you'll get some loser chickens so we come up with the solution thought we'd try this out and it seems to be working two years ago took my little rototiller and I tilled up this area and while the wife kept the chickens out of it I put down pallets as you can see and then we put down on top the pallets chicken wire and then after the whole thing was done we bought a grass seed mix that the chickens are supposed to be healthy with what they really liked and threw it down there well it grew the chickens love it they keep it right at the top of them right at the top of the pallets as you can see and guess what they can't scratch it out they can't pull it up by its roots so it's a greenery that keeps renewing itself the chickens eat greens the grass grows doesn't turn muddy and a keeper trimmed down pretty darn good there's a few weeds they didn't eat as you can see from the stubble that's there we cut that off and we'll start again anyways thought that was a tip you guys might like to see I think it's working well especially if you have a small yard and lots of water turns muddy as ours does anyways like I said a little tip somebody may find useful thought I'd throw that in there you all have a good day god bless thank you
