How to install Kali Linux 2021.2 in VirtualBox on Windows 10 (2021)

thanks for joining the video guys my name is sunny  so in this tutorial i will be teaching you how to   install the latest version of kali linux 2021  in virtualbox step by step and before starting   the installation process make sure that your  virtualization is enabled if it is not enabled   then you won't be able to install any operating  system uh on on platforms like virtualbox or   vmware alright so in order to find out press  windows button and r on windows and write ms   info 32 hit enter it should pull out your system's  information now scroll to the bottom as you can   see virtualization enabled yes and if it says  no then restart your computer go to the bios and   enable your virtualization first all right now we  have to download and install the virtualbox itself   so search for virtualbox and visit the first link  that you see and go through the downloads and here   as you can see we have links for our respective  operating systems just click on the link   your downloading should start right away now guys  if you already have the virtual box installed   make sure to update the virtual box to  the latest version because i believe   the latest version is the most stable version of  the virtual box and now we will have to download   the iso image of kali linux so visit cali.org  and go to the download click on kali linux now scroll down as you can see it is a bit  confusing for beginners because we have you   know a few images to download now the correct  image that we are going to need is this kali linux   64-bit installer image basically this  installer image lets you install kali on   vmware virtualbox or or on a separate hard disk  and the second image is as you can see kali live   this image is specifically used for running kali  in live mode if you want to use kali without   installing then download this image put  this image into a usb or pen drive then   you can use kali without installing then third  image net installer as you can see its base size   is quite low this image basically gives you you  know customization options uh during installation   so when you install kali you can decide which  tools or packages you want to install or not all   right so this image is for certainly is not for  beginners and these images are for specifically   apple devices and if you scroll down uh down here  we have images for 32-bit system all right so guys   you have to download images according to your  systems architecture all right if your system   architecture is 32-bit then download um images  from here and if you do not know your system's   architecture then again windows press windows are  type msf info msn432 and under processor section   uh sorry system type section as you can see x x 64  means my systems architecture is 64 bit and 32 bit   is represented by 86 86x86 alright so download  image according to your systems architecture   for downloading also you have two options uh if  you know how to use torrent then of course go with   torrent if you do not have torrent then simply  click on the link your downloading should start   right away now guys after installing  virtualbox and downloading the iso   image of kali linux then we are good to go  now open your virtual box click on machine   new give a name to your virtual  machine that you are going to create so as you can see this is the default location c  drive where your files related to kali linux or   your virtual machine will be saved or stored  and if you want to change the location then   click on this arrow others i  actually want to store files   in my d drive i do not have sufficient  space in c drive k os calios now from this drop down go for linux from version  menu select debian 64 or 32 according to the image   that you have downloaded i have 64 bit so  we'll have to go for 64 bit click on next   now here we have to allocate the ram  now your question has to be how much ram   should i allocate as you can see 1gb is minimum  required for a smooth running you need minimum   1500 megabytes all alright and guys if your system  only has 4 gb ram installed then do not give   more than 1700 megabytes all right if you give  anything above 1700 megabytes then your main   operating system may crash alright and if you  have more than 4 gb as i have 6 8 gb then i   can certainly afford to give around 3 gb you  can notice guys we have two lines here one is   light blue and pink the light blue basically  indicates the maximum you can assign all right   if you put this slider into the into the pink  side then it will be an invalid configuration   alright your virtual machine will not start all  right so just put the slider behind this blue   line all right click on next click on create  a virtual hard disk now create let it be vdi   click on next let it be dynamically allocated  again click on next and now allocate the hard disk   space i am going to give minimum 10 gb is required  i'm gonna give let's say 22 gb now click on create   as you can see virtual machine has been created  now click on the virtual machine that you just   created click on settings we have to make a few  changes here as well so click on advanced tab from   shared clipboard menu select by directional  basically these settings are gonna give you option   to you know copy and paste files between your  main operating system and and virtual machines   now click on system as you can see the amount of  ram that we have allocated now click on processor   again guys keep the slider behind the blue line  so i'm gonna give two processors and let the   execution cap hundred percent again if you put the  slider on the pink side then down here you can see   invalid setting detected all right so guys down  here you can check for the miss configurations or   the invalid settings all right so just assign the  two processors just like this and click on display   and i'm gonna give around 100 megabytes video  memory and from this drop down guys make sure   to select vms vga all right and click on  storage tab click on empty click on this   down arrow choose a disk file now guys select  the iso image that you downloaded all right   remember guys these configurations that we  have just made they can uh you know always   be changed even after installing the machine  all right so go with okay now click on start   and if this menu pops up click on  cancel press enter go with graphical   install now here select the language  click on continue select your country and click on continue select the  keyboard layout again go with continue   now give a name to your kali linux so i'm gonna  give sunny click on continue you can leave this   field blank again go with continue now write the  full username cyborg to malu hit enter or click   on continue now guys this field is important all  right the username that you are gonna choose here   will be needed when you log in so make sure to  remember whatever you put in here so click on   continue and also you will have to remember the  password as well so username and password that you   assign here will be needed when you log  in so type carefully go with continue   and let it be guided use entire disk click  on continue and again go with continue   all files in one partition continue click on  finish partitioning and write changes to disk   click on continue write changes to disks  click on yes check box and go with continue   all right so it will take few minutes to install  the base system now here guys you can select the   components that you want to install as you can  see all the essential components are pre-selected   for you you can opt the additional components  like gnome or kde plasma desktop environment   and i do not recommend to install you know these  uh components these desktop environments because   they are bit heavier they consume a lot  of your resources so for virtual platforms   they are not recommended so let everything be  default go with continue now guys it is going   to take time to install so wait patiently now  install the grub bootloader check the yes button   click on continue and select the  slash dev sda this is the hard drive   click on continue now we are almost there guys  it is going to take just couple of minutes now   now it is going to reboot uh the galley linux  press enter now enter the username and password   that you assigned during the installation  click on login i think my username was cyborg now as you can see guys kali linux has been  installed successfully it is up and running   now let's check whether it is  working in a full screen mode or   not so go to view click on full  screen mode click on switch now as you can see guys without installing the  guest additions or any additional tools kali   linux is working in full screen mode all  right and if it is not working for you in   full screen mode guys then you will have to  complete a few more steps you are probably using   older version of the virtual box all right  so open your terminal now let me increase   the font size first file preferences click  on change let me make it 14 should be enough   okay okay now you have to upgrade your  system first write sudo apt get update update and sudo apt get upgrade upgrade actually make sure you spell everything  correctly upgrade and the sudo apt get this upgrade all right so double check all the  spellings before hitting enter guys what   basically these commands are gonna do update  command is going to fetch the latest available   versions of the already installed softwares then  upgrade command is going to actually upgrade those   softwares then this upgrade command basically is  going to remove all the unnecessary packages or   softwares and it will solve all your application  related errors all right so guys this command is   really important let this command finish all  right press enter and write your root password   as you can see kali needs to download around  600 megabytes right why press enter guys let   this command finish completely all right do not  interrupt it is going to take a bit of time of   course it is going to depend on your internet  connection speed all right after finishing the   upgrades we have to basically install one  more package so write sudo apt get install linux hyphen headers hyphen  dollar sign inside brackets right you name space hyphen r hit  enter and go with y press enter   and let it download the 16 megabytes  then we should be good to go now after installing the linux headers   close the terminal click on devices  insert guest additions cd image and as you can see image has  been mounted double click on it   now copy all the files from this folder  and paste them into into your desktop now right click in the blank space click  on open terminal here all right now write   ls hit enter we have to basically execute  this file so copy the file name here   and before actually executing the file we have to  make this file executable first so write ch mode x paste the file name hit enter now after making  this file executable we have to run the file so   write sudo sh dot forward slash and the  file name hit enter write yes hit enter   so guys it is going to take probably two or three  minutes then we should be good to go so after   the installation is finished now you  need to restart your system so write sudo   shutdown hyphen r flag is for restarting and write   n o w now and hit enter and it will restart  your system after restarting you will be able   to make your kali full screen without any  problems all right so let me login quickly all right so guys after logging in  again go to the view full screen mode   and click on switch all right so guys  after installing the guest additions tool   you will be able to work with full screen mode  without any problems all right now you can get rid   of these files they are not required at all after  installing the guest additions you can remove them
