hello and welcome to yet another tutorial by Davies media design my name is Michael Davies and in today's tutorial I'll be showing you how to download the painter brush set or the brush pack this is a free third-party brush set for GAMP it's going to contain some professional brushes I'll be using version 2.10 point 20 which is the latest version of at the time of this tutorial and you do need to use that version of or newer in order for these brush sets to work [Music] before I get into that don't forget to check out my website at Davies media design.com as always I have tons of video tutorials on here my book of layers and free software help articles so definitely check that out you can enroll in my 2.10 masterclass from beginner to pro photo editing on you to me you can enroll in any my skill share classes by visiting gem school calm and you could get more with a premium membership to Davies media design I'll include all the relevant links from this tutorial in the description of the video alright so here is the github page where this download is located it's called sloths painter so this is a third-party download for but the team directly shared this on the official Twitter page which is why I trust this link but of course if you do have something like an anti-virus software run a scan on these files before you open them up on your computer and install them into to make sure they're safe and I will link this page in the description of this video but what you need to do is come over here to the clone button click on that and come down here to where it says download zip and you're going to choose the file location on your computer where you want to download this I've already downloaded this into my downloads folder so I'm going to hit cancel and I'll minimize this so now let's come over and open up our file explorer here if you're using Windows or the Finder window if you're using Mac is that download in our downloads folder so now we need to extract the package contents here so I'm going to right click and go to extract all and you can extract this into whatever folder location you want just remember that location I'm going to keep this in my downloads folder and I've already extracted this so I'm just gonna exit out of here and now I'm going to find the extracted folder so here's the extracted folder I'm gonna double click to enter this folder you guys should have had this folder open up automatically once you've extracted it so there's another folder in here we're gonna double click on that and here you'll see a variety of other folders as well as some other stuff here so now let's open up again I'm in two-point 10.20 you need to use that version or newer for this to work it's not going to work in older versions of but what we need to do is tell that these brushes exist so we need to be able to find these files and I'll do so by going to edit preferences and we'll come down here inside the Preferences to folders and we'll expand this and scroll down so there's three folders we're going to need for this process the brushes folder the dynamics folder and the tool presets folder so we'll start with brushes and I'll come over here and click to create a new folder so that will activate this little search bar here this text box then we'll come back to the file explorer and now we'll enter the brushes folder and I'll click on here to copy the address on the computer where this is located make sure it ends in brushes I'll hit ctrl C to copy that come over here ctrl V to paste it inside of this text box so you'll see it's a red dot right now I'll come over here and click the new folder icon once again and now you'll see there is a green dot so this is now being recognized now we'll come over to the dynamics folder do the same thing so we'll click to create a new folder come back here we do have to come back to the original folder where that brushes folder was come down here to dynamics double click to enter inside of it and we'll come up top here click on this address bar to copy the address ctrl C and come over here ctrl V to and then we'll click this icon one more time and now we have the green dot move on to the last step which is going to be the tool presets so now I'll come back over here we're going to backup a folder navigate to the tool presets folder click on the address bar ctrl C to copy come over here to preferences and we'll make sure we're clicked on that folder ctrl V to paste and then we'll click add new folder and there we go so now I'll click OK to apply these changes and we'll minimize this exit out of and now we'll have to reopen so here we have reopened so there's a couple of things I really like about this third-party brush set number one is it takes a bunch of professional brushes and puts them all in one place so that they're easy to install and easy to access and number two these brushes come with a variety of presets so basically all the best settings for them are already set up but you can still change them if you want to and apply different brush dynamics to them they are most similar to the my paint brush feature which is already built into which is kind of designed for the same purpose so now we have two different resources for more professional looking brushes inside a and that should help with giimpse painting capabilities so I can access these brushes now very easily using essentially a built-in interface so I can go to Windows dockable dialogs and come down here to tool presets and you can already see some of the brushes here inside of the presets but I can come up top here to the filter and filter out just the sloth's brushes so when I click on that only those brushes will display so now we have all the brushes here let's show these in action I'll go to file new and I'm gonna create a 1920 by 1080 document click OK so I'll come over here and click on my paintbrush tool increase this size and now I'll come over here to my little presets dialog and I'll just click on the first option here so you'll see what's going to happen is the presets for this tool will take over the brush dynamics are automatically set to the presets for this particular brush as well as the brush head itself so we can paint with this I'm just using a mouse right now so any of the tablet presets that are set up for this aren't going to work right now but I'll hit control Z let's scroll through here grab another brush so here's another one and you can see the tool options will change and the tool itself will change so instead of being the paintbrush tool now we have the ink tool and we can paint with this and we'll scroll down here we have a soft eraser so that's going to grab my eraser tool and we can erase this so those are just some examples there there's a chalk example this is again using my paint brush tool and because this is a dockable dialog we can perform the same customizations on here so we can change the preview style we can use larger icons for example and we get changes from a list to a grid and that way we can just see the pictures here the brushes and I can even move this so I can change the position over here and that's going to give this an entire row and this allows us to easily access all these brush presets here and you can see there is quite a variety of brushes one last thing I'll mention is this does take on your foreground color you have setup so if I change this to red and I paint these brushes will show up as that color alright so that's it for this tutorial hopefully you liked it if you did you could check out my youtube channel at youtube.com slash Davies media design don't forget to subscribe and click the bell icon to be notified each time I have a brand new
