hello welcome to bomber from plumbing and fixing tutorials today I'm going to show you how to silicone and we'll share to silicone quickly and more importantly I want to show you the silicone properly see so many people do a very nice job in a bathroom and out come to the finishing on the silicone and I will just get it wrong here's what you're going to need firstly you're going to need some silicon and a silicon gun so I call it a mastic gun but there it is there it's a standard piece of equipment it's very important that you use a good quality circum so this is a barf and sanitary silicone it's fun more resistant midwatch of sealer is for sealing bumps hours and sanitary fittings you can buy cheaper stuff than this but the cheaper stuff just goes black and moldy and that's not what you want you want it to last and stand the test of time you also make sure you've got a wind recorded blue roll white roll kitchen roll whatever it is make sure you got some in his hand because you're going to need strong white whale up the excess silicone Oh thirdly you have to make these and this is really the secret weapon there silicon smooth installs I'll show you how to use them in a second if you're watching this in but they're at least from screw fix there are basically lots of different diameters on them so this is a six mil this is a five mil they do an 8 mil and a 10 mil and there is a 3 mil and a finishing edge okay lastly again a bit of a secret ingredient we have a sprite now all this is this is a regular spray bottle something that you might use for sort of spraying the plants in the garden or something like that in it I've just got some water with just a little dash of washing-up liquid now you can actually buy silicone sprays and there are purposefully for finishing off silicone and cures the silicon but to be honest with you I'll charge you 10 pound and it does exactly the same thing so when I make this bottle up I basically filled the box up to the top got a little bit of washing-up liquid and just squirted it in there I mean tiny little bit amount shake it out on I'm sure you may be able to see filed up so light you may be able to see the bubbles inside it it's it's almost 99 parts water one part washing up liquid something like that okay now if you just take a camera down here I've got its alternate because the light is not the best here is the edge of the shower so the shower meets the floor now if you would just go along here you'll see where we did a little bit of circle line earlier you'll notice how flat and square that is and that's really the sort of finish that we're looking for okay right so first of all one of them zoom is I'll take a little bit of my tissue there and just the excess at the top I'm just going to take that squeeze it out because just even in a time I've been talking that sort of starts set a little bit so I'll just get rid of it over there okay now the gun what should I do here before I place that you need to ensure that your working area is completely clean of any dust or anything else it's very very important otherwise you're going to get little bits of grit inside your circle okay now I'm gonna be quite liberal with this it's going to go in and I'm really making sure that works it's swept itself all the way in and we're way around take it back to here the most important thing when you're doing this I'll teach you how to silicon in a way that doesn't look messy and again but the silicon's major purpose is that it's got to stop water getting in there so first of all its function first once we have the function then we can do a magnet look good okay we just bug look we look good back here with the camera to make sure that is worked its way in there I'll take my thing that I'm good just I'm almost pushing it in but not so hard I was you're going to end up with silicone all over your finger okay so I now know that there's a complete seal all the way along it doesn't look great at the moment everybody that when people sit then everybody does that but here's the part where everybody always goes wrong now first of all I'm going to clean up my hand I've got a finger full of silicone this phrase right I mean spread your food keep yourself nice and close your eyes one of these cleans you can when you're working now the way not to do it and when I see people doing it really report is a mask up what I'll do is I'll put if you just look down here I put a bit of masking tape here and a bit of masking tape here they mask up in it just you don't get that clean that clean nice edge and that's really what you're looking for so I'm going to take my sauce and I think I'm going to go for was that the eight mill there you can use the angle okay the first line was on the eighth mill somebody use the egg feel is very very easy to see that is eight mill because you probably want to sit on the camera but it actually says eight on there I think we can focus on there if that's working maybe not don't worry too much if it's not okay now what I'm going to do is the first time I run it across it's very very important that this flat edge just going to go flat on the floor that's all that's got to do so if you just look now maybe lower that down that camera slightly that's going to go on the floor and I'm going to do this let me just move the light for you a basic guns in this motion and what I come to is that firstly that's going to push it all in so here we go now start the edge this edge is going to go flats are there okay and the other part is going flat to the floor here we go okay there's so much excess on there what I wanted to do is we're gonna clean that off that's gone again little sprite back ons are here and it's pushing it in it's just pushing it all into place now obviously I did push it into place with my finger before but this is just going the extra-mile okay I'm going to do from this ends I'm going to start from here take it all the way along and there we go that is all pushed into place but as by no means finished okay now the really good thing about these spatulas is that they give it a nice clean edge and that's really what you want because another thing that makes silicon go mouldy and go blank is that if you have a rough edge if you might just smooth your finger and leave it there it's going to have undulations and that's where the bacteria and the spores that's where they'll basically grow and by finishing it with a nice straight edge then that stops all that happening it basically the bacteria has an inert has nowhere to live it's just going to become a perfectly flat surface which makes it good to wipe which is what you want there's a bathroom you want to be able to wipe it over the cloth and that's it right okay so if we look back here now I'm never to strike everywhere I've just done but this time if you look here I'm actually going before if you remember I dragged it this way that was that pushes it in it's on a slight angle actually push it into place now I'm actually using the flat edge I'm going to draw it this way that's actually going to start taking it off you watch here if you can see the line I've just made a look how straight that line is it's it's a perfectly straight line don't worry about the excess at the top we'll take that up in a second in fact whilst you're there that's how did it there watch this time make sure this edge is flat against the edge of the screen you'll say now let's take that along here and you can see as a beautiful straight silicon line we'll just carry on here all the way along follow the contour obviously move with it as you go and there it is and the same again I'll take that off even get a little spice up for one sprite two or three times not a problem look you can just see here there's a slight bit of white residue from the silicon there we can just take the office it's not an issue just take that up there there we go and again use the flat edge bring it all the way around so there once again I'm just gonna wipe off my spatula and we're very very nearly finished okay now it's almost perfect but not quite there's a couple of little bits that need finishing off so again it's very important you basically on the spray nests that you clean up your tools because any circle that's been taken up we don't really want there anymore so there's a little bit of residue if you just look back down there now that's on the tray you can just see there's a little bit there have you can see that but again if I just take that to there you can see it's coming up but you can see it taking off there and there you go that is just giving you just a perfect finish all around makes if you still come up on a spatula there's still silicon in place now you probably spotted there's some down there I'm going to deal with that in a second but let me just get all these little imperfections all the little excess so I can wipe it away and we are almost done now if you look here it's a little bit messy it's just got caught in a little groove there but that's no problem I'm going to take the edge of the sharp bit here I can keep cleaning it wipe it off and there you go now you'll also see I'm going to do one more thing here I'm going it one last little spike all the way along and at this point I will use my finger but I'm not I'm not pressing hard I mean you know if it was a bit of cotton wool I'd barely be making a dent but always going to do is I'm just running the spray over the surface of the silicon just to smooth that out and if you look here we'll have to clean that last bit up like so where the joint is but its price is going to be nothing no dirt there in the end we'll take that away it's already starting to go just finish that off with a saw number I beg your pardon we'll take it off there look one more spray and I'll basically smooth that over with my finger and you just do that and so it blends in a basically that's how you silicone if you just stand back a second and just take an overview of that that is a perfectly straight silicone line but it actually is so straight it follows the curvature of the screen and this works on absolutely everything so that's that's about it from the silicon tutorial grubbing we've got a line behind us here I'll be doing the same on there but you can just different colors it against me by each tile little black works on before even a beige silicon along there you can see this was done earlier there's a nice line along there and that's what we're always basically looking to do on all that stuff really but there'll be loads more tutorials coming your way we'll be doing tasks toilets everything so please if you want to see any more of these bar from tutorials somewhere down there then a bottomless screen of your life and if you hover the mouse or whatever if you just press subscribe then you'll receive a notification every time I have videos and pops up and hopefully there'll be a few handy tips and forms and until next time beg your pardon thanks for watching
