How to install a Whirly bird attic turbine vent.

Oh Spartacus working on another roof gonna put in an attic vent here it's gonna be a turbine vent I've got a circle drawing right there and what I've done is I've taken taking this I've got this already set up and it's ready to go and what I did is they set this where I want it to go which is this being a 912 pitch roof I'd say it's about 14 inches from the peak from the front at the top of the flange so I'm going to cut that circle out take any nails out slide this up underneath there without having to take a single shingle off and then they'll put this turbine on and so what I did was I figured out this is the 912 pitch right there is a nine and you got to put that in line with the bottom you see an S line so you line that hole up to nine for nine 12 pitch you put the corresponding screws in there's three of them in the holes on the base once you do that I talked the inside that that bottom does have to be cocked a lot of times I use quad then I set this on the roof and I adjust it until the top is going to be level this top ring you want that to be level so when I have that in position that's going to be the level clearly it's going to be up there and then I'm going to put the turbine on and you I do as much assembly off the roof as I can I'm gonna get this cut we're gonna see how it looks okay so I've got the circle cut and it just so happens that when I went to pry that board up I was right on a seam so the bottom board fell in I'm gonna finish this cut then I'm gonna grab this as I'm cutting it so that weight don't fall into the Attic like the other half just did okay so I have the hole cut and what I'm gonna do is use these snips these are a bad pair dull pair I'm gonna cut this shingle like so so that way that flange will come down and cover these shingles down below and I'll show you how I get the I'll actually do this now this is only a year old this house so these shingles are sealed down quite well I'm just looking for a nail so maybe the easiest thing to meet it yeah just gonna tack it from the side unfortunately I'm alone today so I get a one hand everything show you how it's done so I got that nail out so what that'll do is once I cut this shingle below that flange to slide up underneath so it'll come up underneath here or actually underneath here too and we'll have a good system okay so now I've got that slid into place and I do have that shingle probably cut a little excessively on the left side I'm not worried about it I'm gonna end up talking between that flange and you can see how wide that flange comes it comes out to here I have done a better job so there's the inside where my hole is you can see all that shingle lays out on the top and I'm gonna nail this in place okay so I've got this nailed in place I've only got four nails in it you can see those two and got one under here then got one under there those are kind of a barrier to get at I'm gonna have to put another one up here and another one up here and I have a roof snake for that and please look that up online because I don't have it on my pouch I'll show it to you maybe in a few minutes so what I'm gonna do is take my roofing cement and this is a roof flashing sealant that I use and this stuff is finger twist [Applause] this is our F 140 roof and flashing ceiling some of that all the way around underneath this shingle where it meets that flange all the way down to here and then on the two nails I'm not going to do the two nails until lasts because I'll probably end up stepping in it touching it putting my hand in it don't want to do that okay I've gone ahead and put the turbine on haven't even fastened it down yet and that's why it's clacking it's touching so I'm going to put the screws in we've got a screw gun 5/16 spit okay the turbine is in I put the corresponding screws in those three legs that are coming off the turbine now I'm gonna finish off the installation by having my roof sealant and they even want this here plugged and since it's black I'm gonna cover it with this black and we are good to go now we have a venting attic space and you can see that that turbine is only about oh two inches above and in my camera can't even tell it's spinning but it's doing about five miles an hour spinning around there so high quality home maintenance I hope you liked the video stay safe this is a 912 pitch roof I've got cougar paw shoes on which helped me stay up here so that like and subscribe if you're learning anything
