to go over the steps on how to install an Anderson 3000 storm door with a screen and the first thing you want to do is remove the screen and you want to leave all of these orange tabs on the door itself and once we put this in place we're going to need an E8 in drill bit and it actually comes in the kit and you're going to find that 8in drill bit along with the screws inside the box with the closer now we're going to set the storm door into the opening and we want to make sure that the metal frame and that orange tab is sitting firmly on the bottom of the sill so make sure you use your KNE KNE or your foot as we put this in place and just make sure it's centered we're going to drill an E8 inch pilot on the center holes on the left and right of the door and that and we'll put those screws in so it holds the door in place so we can do the rest of the screws I'm going to put the two screws in to hold the door in place and I set my clutch so I don't overtighten it now I'm going to drill my pilot holes in the rest of the frame and put in the screws when I was putting the screws in I couldn't pre-drill the two holes by these orange tabs so now that everything else is in place I'm going to pull out these orange tabs just by grabbing this and pulling it forward that unlatches it and then inside the door latch you have two orange plastic pieces that you need to push out with a Phillips screwdriver and you're just going to put it into that plastic piece and push it through and that's going to allow us to open the door and then I will put in my final two screws around the frame so now on the hinge side of the storm door you've got eight pre-drilled holes in the frame now what we're going to do is take that e in drill bit and we're going to create pilot holes in this Frame and then we're going to use the supplied screws and we're going to tighten and they don't want you to overtighten it so if you have a drill with a clutch I would use the clutch so that we don't overtighten the screws for the orange tab that's in the frame all you have to do is grab it and pull it out and there were a couple plastic tabs that held it in place and in those holes the kit comes with a couple plugs that you're going to put in there to cover those holes now we're going to remove the two orange tabs on the side of the door itself and we're just going to loosen that screw with a screwdriver and then tighten that screw down and I would just use a regular screwdriver rather than a drill so you don't overtighten it and strip it now for that tab on the bottom of the door itself you're just going to grab it with your thumbs and push it down to release it now we can remove the protective tape from the inside of the door and then the outside now to put the lock on WE want to make sure that the lock and the notch inside the door is properly oriented and there's a little notch in this square hole here and we want to make sure it's facing away from the glass and if it's not you're going to use the handle and turn it so that Notch is facing away now the cover plate for the door handle itself has one side that's marked Anderson and that's going to be for the outside and we're just going to put that onto the door and then the handle you're going to want to put in so it's facing straight down and then you're going to lock it in place by turning it toward the main part of the door the interior trip plate we're going to take the inside handle and put it in straight down and then turn it so that it's locked in place too and now we're just going to push this and made it to the other side and now we're just going to hold this in place with two screws that are supplied and again I would just use a standard screwdriver here I wouldn't use a drill CU you don't want to strip this now we're going to take that trim plate for the edge of the door and we're going to put it over the latch and it's going to be held in place by one small screw that's supplied and again I would just tighten this down snugly you don't overtighten it now we're going to insert the deadbolt into the door and it just slides in place and then we're going to secure it with a screw through the edge of the door now we're going to install the rain cap on top of the door and it has a little slot that we're going to clip into the frame and lock it in place and that's going to allow us to then drill our pilot holes now when we're drilling our pilot holes we want to grab that rain cap with our thumb and pull it up while we're putting our holes in now we're going to hold it in place with three screws and I would also pull up on that while you're putting that screw in now we have a decorative plastic trim that we're going to put over the screws that we held the frame in place with and all you have to do is set this into the groove on the bottom and then we're going to snap it in place on the top to lock it and now we have two decorative strips that we're going to put on the sides to cover the screws on the side now you're going to install the window retainer and it's this plastic channel that you're going to put on the bottom and the top and all you do is with the wide part down or up we're going to set it in and then just push it in and it's going to snap in place and so we'll install it on the bottom and then put one on top now once you shut your door you can adjust the rubber sweep on the bottom by loosening these two screws and moving this Upp or down now we're going to attach the door closer brackets to the door there's going to be one on the bottom and one on the top and where the closer is going to be attached we want that facing towards the hinge and we're just going to use two small screws to put them in place now we're going to install the jam bracket and we want the top of this to be the same height as the top of this bottom frame so we'll put this in place and then we'll drill our three pilot holes now we're going to screw this in with two 2in screws and we're going to screw them into the back two two screws leaving that screw hole open closest to the storm we're going to attach the arm that holds the closer into that bracket and there's a little hook that locks it in place and then we're going to hold it in place with a third 2in screw now we'll connect the closer to the door brackets and the small pin we're going to use to connect it to the door jam and then the long pin we'll use to connect it to the door itself now we'll go through the same steps and put the closer on the top of the door so now for adjusting the speed of the close there's a screw on the end of the closers that you can adjust on the top and the bottom and then you can determine how fast you want this to shut what's unique about this door is the bottom closer h has a special locking mechanism that you press this and it'll lock and keep it open and then to close it all you have to do is push the door open and it will release that lock so that's all there is to it pretty easy to install a storm door yourself
