How To Install A Rain Diverter In Less Than Five Minutes!

in this video we'll be showing you how to install the rain diverter on your roof stick around I'll show you how we did it if you have a rain diverter I don't know if you have a situation like this where you have a lot of water coming down your roof from multiple angles hitting something like that it's going to be almost impossible to stop this area from leaking so what I would do would be install a rain diverter to stop all that water from multiple angles hitting down here on the side of that wall right there creating a leak so Paul's going to install a rain diverter here and this is a rain diverter just like that so what you have to do in order to do that is take a flat bar get that Paul's going to take a flat bar on your shingles it's always nice to have a good one with a little nice tip on it fairly sharp with it so that when it lifts up like that you can see the angle on it has an angle you're going to loosen up the shingle where the rain diverter is going to go up underneath beautiful he's going all the way to the end of the shingle breaking that tar loose and he'll go all the way to the wall breaking the tar loose carefully because you don't want to destroy cushion humble your Range Rover is going to slide up underneath that shoe that's why you have to have it Loose you don't want to put it on top and I've seen that so often people put it right on the top and then that top and that's just not the way to do it there you go so the shingle is completely loose it'll take his rain diverter rain diverter diverts the water from one spot to another the inside will go all the way to the shingle outside will drop down a couple inches inch and a half even doesn't matter you want to be plenty you want to have plenty up underneath your shingle so you don't ever get blowback so that side's going to go like that and this side is going to go about like that if you have a good two inches you're good on that angle the water will come down the roof now hit the top of the rain diverter and be moved over to the outside of the roof so now the water will come from there and just shoot out this way so all that water smashing into that wall won't happen anymore this is how we install them she brought snake if we have it [Music] [Music] why don't you go through the top of the tabs Paul once you lift the tabs do not do that excuse me yes the whole thing can be nailed on like that but I like to caulk under it first you know what I mean which one okay you will find it very difficult to get under the rest of that shingle we'll get onto this one but this is the outside edge in the easiest place get up underneath the um thing please putting it on the uh oh you're putting it on the rain diverter there and then pushing it up that's a good way to do it put the caulking on the random version slide it up nope mm-hmm you don't have to do but dab it Paul on the underside here just dabs water gets down there you know you don't want any water going through that crack and hitting the seam yeah okay what we're trying to do is because there's no way you're going to get a nail underneath that shingle without it breaking so on an architectural shingle you're going to loosen up that tab right there has a couple couple runs of caulking on it you're going to loosen it up with your flat bar lift them up just far enough to where you can nail it and then after you nail it you'll that tab back down nail it into that metal you're nailing through the shingle yes that whole shingle down everything we'll seal that down when finished foreign when you're getting into a spot like this he's going to loosen up this next tab right here do that bye prying your flat bar up underneath that tar strip trying to lift it up you're basically trying to cut it with the end of that flat bar good some of them break loose easier than others I will say that a lot of them don't have two strips just one loosen it seal it back down because you don't want it coming back up again later a little bit of caulking a good day of sunshine that's how you install a rain diverter on an architectural shingle you can do it the same way with a three tab shingle just by lifting the tabs which is a little bit easier to be honest with you than an architectural shingle foreign
