on today's video i'm going to be showing you how to install your power steering pump pulley without the special tool it's very simple to do and explain to you another way you can do it but uh we installed this ic t uh billet power steering bracket here for the ls1 we went ahead put all these carpools and drilled the block in previous videos let's just jump into the video to do this you can buy a special tool at 20 bucks off ebay if you want to or you can just use what you got laying around i don't know what exactly size boat this is but what you want to do is make sure it threads it into this you can see it stretches in very easily you want to make sure it's the same uh thread if you got if you ain't got a long enough bolt you can always just find one to fit it you got laying around then go to lowe's or a hardware store and match your longer boat or miss that boat up for just a few dollars maybe three bucks or less so what we're going to do is just set this on here it goes on one way you don't want to mix that up uh this is the front right here you can tell the way it's shaped and stuff and it'll have this little notch on it right here so you can pull it back off if need be so we're just gonna center this up just like so we're gonna take the boat that we got made it's uh just a big metal washer here i found a long boat that treads in it and uh and a socket and we're just gonna go ahead and uh center this up and tighten it down and i found when installing these just hold the pump itself to pull here hold it steady and it'll help draw them on you can use heat to heat this thing up here but uh it can damage the seal so we got a new pump here we don't want to do that and it don't take much pressure at all to center these up and you can tell just by me making this video it's probably taking any effort now when this bottoms out you want to stop and stack your washes a little bit more or change to a shorter bowl which once i get this so tight i will go to a shorter boat and don't go too far check it every so often we're not even halfway on yet but we have made progress and i got a shorter boat here and uh he will start but it don't go in further enough for me to use at the moment so a couple more twisters with a homemade boat here should uh tighten that up now that's pretty tight i won't take this boat no tighter without shimming it so let's back it out and see what we got and we are about halfway on so what i did is just stack a couple washers you want to be careful and don't force them washes into the hole you want them big enough they ain't going to go into the hole but those are pretty tight so i went to an impact you want to be very careful when doing the impact because you can strip us out so what we're doing is checking it ever so often you want to be careful not get your washer stuck this one i was talking about using the right side washer because you can get that stuck in there [Music] so as i'm pushing this on i'm stopping to check my fitment it's about fully on you see i wounded the boat off one of the things to having an impact that's what happens and using a uh out socket [Music] there we go and uh we are maxed out on the inside that's how come the bolts stripped you kind of can't take it no further because they all lip on this on the inside i mean just the way it is now you can take it a little too far past this lip if you force it that's what i was talking about earlier but there's a lip inside this that this will stop at you can see it so when you use the impact be careful because you don't want to uh force it past that lip because this whole thing will break off but that's how you know it's in line that's what it looks like on the back side it's pretty much flush and just don't take it past that whittle in a lip and that should be how it looks that's how simple it is to install your very own power steering toy we didn't use no special power steering puller we just used some bolts we had laying around the the place and uh you can pretty much like i said go to lowe's the hardware school store find you want to fit you a couple different size shorter bolts up get you some washers and do it just like i did you can probably install your piston for eight three maybe five bucks instead of having to wait on a pallet stealing pulley you know press on kit or anything like that very simple very easy hope you found this video helpful let me know in the comment section if you did be sure to smash that subscribe button if you're new and i see you next time thank you for watching
