[Music] foreign [Music] well today we'll fix that problem by improving our art in a short span of time step one find your motivation your motivation can range from I want to be better to I want to spite people now we also want to set the goal for yourself what you want to do is to find out what you want to end up with this could be your dream art style or maybe even just simple goals like getting better at Anatomy or something step two quick tips oversimplify everything when I say everything I mean lessen your layers this might not work for everyone but it works for me I stopped using a line art I just use my sketch and polisher I usually use three types of layers one for the sketch one for the coloring and one for the background of ever then what I like to do because I'm goofy I merge all of my layers into one layer afterwards this just makes everything easier for me that's near brushes too a lot of beginners mindset is that the more the better but no if you think about it this same mindset is what's causing overpopulation this is why I only stick the two brushes overstep fire shapes too if you see my drawings you can see that I utilize shapes a lot I always block out my Shadows with big shapes instead of using a tiny brush also use big brushes because yeah okay now to the actually useful part but before that I'd like to give a quick disclaimer do not post art if you reference from another artist unless you credit them I did this mistake before when I was still new to social media so I didn't know it was actually bad until someone made the post about me and accused me of chasing anyways I don't want any of you guys to repeat the same mistake I did unless you like getting flame but maybe instead of posting uncredited references seek a therapist or saddest what is referencing referencing is using a reference when you draw a lot of people try to claim that referencing is actually cheating but maybe that's why their art sucks if you're like me who can't imagine things in their head referencing will be your Lifesaver if you know how to use a mistake I see a lot of people doing a lot is jumping into the harder process before trying to learn basic anatomy if you don't know how to draw a simple poses like the three-fourth phases and the front faces or simple perspective you're gonna have a hard time with the more confident get the process and when you have a hard time with those You're Gonna Want to quit and you don't want that you want to learn simple perspective I introduced you the coiling technique which I didn't make it was already existing before I made this video if you're having a hard time with simple perspective I suggest using this so that your drawings don't end up looking like this you can use the coiling technique for anything everywhere all at once wanna draw cylinders boom you can draw cylinders now wanna drop buildings yeah you can do that now and guess what you can even draw arms and hands with fingers using the coiling technique it's kind of crazy but yeah if you're not using it yet I suggest using it anyway segment over the great thing about referencing is that the more you use them the more you'll learn from them after a period of time you'll notice your improvement in drawing poses without references anymore this happened for me and I call it the art glow up this is something you can't achieve with tracing speaking of tracing tracing is used maliciously by people for cloud so I wouldn't recommended but hey look I'm sure we all traced when we were a toddler and a lot of us actually learn from that which is a good thing but after a period you should stop tracing just don't discourage others from using it if you know that they're really having a hard time drawing as long as they don't post it or take credit for it tracing is actually acceptable here's the big downside though do not ever Trace from only one artist to try to take their style there's this artist that I knew before who traced the well-known artist and they got called out for it hypothetically let's say they stop tracing of course their style will still directly replicate the artist that they were copying so now their originality is completely gone this is why I highly suggest referencing over chasing step 4 study art styles from artists you like the step is closely tied to referencing with that said please take in mind my disclaimer from before okay so if you want to improve you'd want to set the standard for how good you want to get and to set that find an art style that you and try to replicate the aspects of it that you like personally studying art styles is really what helped me become a better artist these were the artists that I used to study when I was still figuring out my art style [Music] foreign [Music] colors a problem that I see a lot of beginners do is that they don't know how to add contrast to their drawings so it looks really Bland a tip I'd give is to make sure that your shadows are dark enough [Music] so the thing I like to do is to add ambient lighting ambient light is the light that bounces on the I it's just Google it this is a demonstration of me adding ambient light to my Shadows foreign [Music] step six learn from your mistakes for this you'll need to find a bully preferably free range with a burning passion to hurt your feelings people like me with siblings get this for free if you don't have one then you can get the same thing from a place I call Reddit once you find a bully you're going to want to hear their critique this is the good stuff once you get it you're gonna ask them why they thought of that and their advice on how to fix it in your list of critique you're gonna see a pattern of all of the mistakes you have and soon you won't need a bully anymore my list of mistakes used to consist of the forehead being a bit too big the eyes being a bit too far apart the forehead a bit too big and lastly the four of the head was a bit too humongous but yeah sum up everything set the goal oversimplify use references don't trace study artists learn colors and learn from your mistakes and and yeah that's that's the end of the video that's bye [Music]
