hi there my name is Judy Jarvis and I'm an application specialist with cancer in Vancouver BC today I'm going to show you how easy it is to take a topo surface from a civil 3d project and looking into bebut and create a topo surfacing in there so let's get started by opening up a surface even civil3d you can see that I have a tin surface and so this is what I'm going to use to go into my Revit model now in order to import it into Beverage I'm going to need just a simple AutoCAD file so what I want to do is export this as export civil3d going which is going to give me just a basic DWG file as we can see in here it's going to export the model and the layout I'm not really interested in the layout to be honest so I'm just gonna bring the model across just save it onto my desktop I'm going to export it out there now that the export is complete I'm gonna pop over into Revit open up a brand new project and go to my insert tab on my insert tab I can import CAD I'm gonna want to import it so that I can select it here's the exported DWG file on my desktop and I'm going to take this one make sure my import units are correct I'm just gonna bring an incentive to Center but obviously we could go up origin to origin for more accuracy and click open now what you see is the single import symbol and if we go into 3d view we can see it there but of course if we shaded up not much happens because this is not a surface it's just the DWG file so back in our plan view perhaps on the site view here if I go to my massing and site create oppo surface all I need to do is create from import remember DWG file is known as an import in Revit so select the import instance tell it which layer you interested in which in this case is the sea - topo layer and then finish if I go into a 3d view now and take a look at what we've got here you can see it's now a topo surface inside of Revit simply orbiting around here so that was a simple demonstration of bringing civil3d topo surface into Revit and creating a Revit object from it my name is - Jarvis I'm an application specialist for Council in Vancouver BC and I look forward to speaking to you again
