hello it's the 27th of march today it's about time we got our spaghetti squash planted up there we go on the back of a packet here it says scoop out with flesh that looks like spaghetti very easy to grow and will store for up to two months which is great because i'm after some long-storing vegetables this year anyway let's get to it as you can see i've filled up this nine centimeter pot here with good quality compost let's get into the packets and get some of the seeds out there we go four seeds there pick a seed like so and you want to sew it on its edge don't sew it flat like that on its edge so literally poke it into the compost like that cover it up [Music] water it in like so and then we'll put this in a propagator and uh yeah we'll just wait to see what happens hopefully these will be up within about oh i don't know seven to ten days spaghetti squash there you go 27 off the third ten days later i've got two spaghetti squash seedlings these actually broke the surface after about seven days and i've just let them grow on out in the sunshine for the last three days so there we go it only took seven days for them to break the surface of compost and another three days to get to this size i've still got another three but they haven't done anything as of yet but fingers crossed they'll soon emerge well those three spaghetti squash plants did eventually emerge and here they are looking pretty happy it has to be said but let's have a look at the original two wow check these guys out i did pop them on look at them looking really healthy in bigger pots obviously it's created bigger healthier looking plants so what i need to do with these three is obviously put them into bigger pots and no doubt they will look like these soon enough anyway this is the state of play on the 23rd of april we've got two extremely healthy specimens there and three potentials here may 19th and it's time to plant out two of the spaghetti squash plants up at the plot i've got this slightly small one here which i'm gonna actually plant right there it'll uh have this wire circular cage to scramble around i'm going to try and train it to go that way and then this second plant slightly bigger um i'm putting it at the base of this trellis wooden trellis here and hopefully you'll be able to scramble up there no problem and i'm obviously gonna feed both with generous shovelfuls of jack's magic multipurpose compost anyway let's get to it that's how deep i've gone with the hole i don't know maybe a foot foot and a half i'll get some compost in there i'll also give it a handful of blood fish and bone [Music] [Music] [Laughter] so okay that's the first one planted as you can see it's slightly mounded up in the middle here what i have done is built a wall around the edge here and similar to the honey boat squash i've created a moat in the center so that when it rains the water will collect in here and feed the spaghetti squash plant um it'll also collect in here obviously make it easier for me when it comes to watering this particular plant anyhow hopefully it'll make its way up the trellis there we go second spaghetti squash planted up using the same method dug a hole filled with compost added a bit of blood fish and bone built of wall around it um like i said that should help collect the water feed this plant and hopefully it will thread and weave its way around and through this cage here anyway we'll come back to it when both of them start to do something fingers crossed it's mid-july and it's time to do an update on the squash let's have a look here there we go and amongst that lot was the first one that developed there's another one just to the right of it there and then this beauty here doing really well and then we've got three that seem to be setting quite well in this cage anyhow we'll get back to these guys later on in the season when it's time to pick them here's a quick spaghetti squash tip you can see i've got this one growing here on this paving slab we've got a runner from this plant extending outwards here if we cut this runner off say there it will help fatten up and ripen this particular squash here so that's what we're going to do right now there we go just put that on your compost pile and you'll be sorted it's october and i need to harvest the spaghetti squash [Music] so [Music] well here we are we've got nine fruit from two plants i don't think that's a bad return to you like i said at the start of this video i was after long storage vegetables and these certainly fit the bill so if you've never grown spaghetti squash especially here over in the uk do give them a go they're fairly easy just plant the seeds keep them well watered well fed and at the end of the season hopefully you'll get as many as i have here from just two plants anyway thanks for joining me if you have remember to hit that like button share subscribe to the channel if you haven't already but most importantly please do comment down below and until the next video bye for now
