[Music] [Applause] [Music] so we're gonna do a harvest to grow so what I'm gonna do first is harvest this basil and then I'm gonna carry you over to the Grove starting a day one to finish to this point right here kind of like we did in the last video I've got paper towels which I'll show you what those are gonna be used for in just a second I've got the stuff to weigh right here these two items and I've got the harvesting tray and the scissors to harvest so let me show you the basil this is what it looks like probably saw a picture of it it's nice grow very nice grow it's got a little bit of weight to it basil doesn't weigh a lot most herbs don't weigh a lot that's what the roots look like now you've seen me well you haven't seen me do it but I'll show you I'll go ahead and show you right here how these can be cleaned it helps clean around the stem and get some debris out too so I'll show you that and bring you back something you can do is fill the bottom tray with fresh bring the water use my hose for example you can use your sink you can take the microgreens in the tray and put them back in the water you'll notice you should hopefully see over here the water is coming into the tray which is what we want and the one thing you can do shift it back and forth like that that'll do is rinse the bottom of the microgreens thoroughly it'll move remove some debris you can do that a couple of times and just dump a little bit more fresh water just regular clean water and just let it sit for a couple hours and some clean water and all the micros will be completely dry and ready okay so that's how it did that and now I'm empty the tray the tray is gonna be on my discard I'm gonna put the paper towel down so that I can blot the roots a little bit dry because I'm gonna harvest these and I'm going to dehydrate them because I love me some basil but the first thing we need to do is take the basil out of the 1-inch tray I'll set that aside there and then put it back down on the paper towel to do the actual harvesting now the things that I use to grow this I'm gonna do another video but I am selling the kits I'm selling the antifungal selling just about everything I do so if you're interested I am getting some pricing and stuff like that just shoot me an email so now let's get to harvesting I've got a clean tray - except for the harvest I've got scissors which is kind of my second way to harvest it seems now I like the upside down harvesting where you just take the knife and it's short it knocks it right off it's real easy no debris no nothing the problem is that some microgreens they don't grow very tall at all so if I were to take this and put it upside down I could harvest it but I would get the cotyledon leaf and just a teeny bit of stem so I want to maximize I want to get a little bit more stem so let's do that I'm gonna speed you up you all right that's pretty much it I'm gonna take and just get some of the scrag lers here I am gonna rinse these before I D hydrate them and I'll just do that and the sink just soak them and push them down and mix them around I may show that now this is on a small screen will be in the video coming up in small screens or a little tougher to are to clean get the stems off but it's not that hard I'll show you in just a second here kind of talking to you about this if you have any questions about this or anything not a lot of people ask questions but I really enjoy these grows because I can use the screen I can use Eric wants to buy everything I can continue to use them over and over and over I've had these screens for better than six months and I've been using them over and over and over specifically the same one so that I can determine how durable they are and I am already selling these in a couple other items so there's a whole bunch of little stuff here but I'll forego some of it just to show you how easy I'm gonna put this in my waste tray that I'm going to use for waste and before before I clean it I want you to see the tray and what you'll see is there's a congregation of seeds right here because the way I washed it that you saw me rinse it back and forth like that so they kind of moved migrated towards each other but other than that just look at the screen I need to talk softer now that I'm closer to you I noticed that in the last video I was editing I was talking too loud see that congregation of seed right there anytime you grow microgreens you're going to have seed but with my grows if you do it like I do it you don't have mold you don't have mold and you don't have to buy soil cocoa potting mix or any of that so I do have a bit of greens here I want to move some of them into the tray because I'm being real particular with basil because it's such a fantastic micro green it's so fragrant and I want to get a lot of that for dehydrating and tomato soup oh it's so good anyway see that if you're watching this video to this point you're probably interested in Micah green some and not really because I'm so popular but you're just seeing how I'm doing it so this part is probably important to you knowing how how to clean it how hard it is how difficult it is and it is just not difficult at all super easy no effort into this and you can take this and wash it and you're synced above your sink and get a lot of this off you can whack it a little bit right here I'll take a good portion of it out of the way put on nice clothes for you for this boot and as you can see it's mostly clean now I'll take I even have a lately I've been using a nylon scrub brush instead of a nylon topped sponge you ever seen those and I just take a nice scrub it when I scrub the trays and it doesn't do any damage to these now you can take these and really squeeze them and they'll stretch but they don't tear they don't they don't have issues with the fertilizer or chemicals or anything they're up there food grade it's just a really good thing and this is the really tiny for a really tiny seed Basil's are really tiny seed but the medium screen is even a little bit more durable than this and even easier to clean I'm gonna put those aside and I'll leave this and clean this up I'm going to carry over here [Applause] I'll do it in real time real time kind of gives you a general kind of how long it's going to take timeline if you're doing this and I am NOT a fast person I'm pretty methodical one might call me slow Oh me anyway so I've got my scale here nice beautiful microgreens you saw me put them in there so there's no point trying to go through those you all pretty much everyone knows what basil tastes like if you don't this basil is like basil on steroids it's phenomenal it's so good okay so I put it's just an empty cup and I use that to raise up the microgreens so you can still see the screen yep I'm still on the screen here so I'm going to zero it out actually I should have put this empty tray let me all trace microgreens off of it so you can kind of see here the whole point of this empty tray is to zero out the weight of the tray so that when we get a weight and I have to make sure that you're in it see it okay so hopefully you can see that so anyway where the same ways the whole point of the empty tray is to zero it out we're on grams it's zeroed out you know when I take this off you'll see it's 342 grams that's the weight of this tray so when I put this tray on it'll be nothing but the weight of the basal which won't be much 183 grams that is six point five ounces I think you can see that six by six point five ounces a basal and it's a little longer growing so you have to weigh the benefits of growing herbs which take longer typically than other types of micro greens but they often fetch a heavy price so there are benefits to doing it so that's what that's it that's how much it what's a six-point something it's a little over a third of a pound I'll put it in the video anyway that's it for this you guys I'm gonna bring you to the grow now and you guys take care you'll be safe out there leave comments I'd love talking to you and appreciate you watching your buddy Sprint Center arc it's all we're gonna do another grow this time we're gonna grow Jenna basil basil basil is a tougher micro green to grow and we're gonna give it a shot I've already sprayed the tray with preventive anti fungal now I'm going to dispense the seed I'm going to spread it across here and I'll bring you back once I've done that got the seed spread and again I sprayed it with the anti fungal preventative antifungal to start the germination process on top is looking good seeds are coming off on the cover this like I had hoped let's break that off at this with the preventative antifungal although with basil I don't think it's even needed I'm gonna do it anyway cheap cheap insurance the dome has been on the basil they haven't taken it off yet from what I've seen basil is a very very short plant it won't grow any taller are you know not quickly like it's reaching for light once you expose it to light it's gonna start getting fatter and then putting on true leaves but as a micro green I need the stems to be longer before I do that so I'm going to keep it in the dark until it's an attempt to get the stems a good bit longer before I expose it to a little is growing taller but it's not growing taller very fast I don't think there's anything about great basil that grows fast until it gets until it starts to mature and once it starts to get mature outside and in my experience it absolutely takes off but right now at this stage it's not growing very fast I took the basil dome off we're gonna grow it without the dome I can see here that they're about I'd say 2 inches tall hazel light is affecting it's getting a little darker leaves are spreading it's hard to say I'm gonna set up here in the kitchen over the sink I've got to the microgreens I'm gonna put a little bit at a time in here or in some with the Saints prayer and then I'm gonna play some in my dehydrator there all right just the tripod so that I actually use it I'm gonna take a little bit of microgreens just like this they're already pretty darn clean but okay I don't care if they get a little bit damaged or it's too soaking wet or anything because they're gonna be dehydrated oh my gosh you smell that no you can't smell it oh so it's not so good mmm rinse those and I'll put them on the dehydrator now bring you back once I load up the dairy they've got two that are ready to be dehydrated they should be ready in a few hours and I'll put them on the dehydrator hint something's come in there you go that's my basil I don't think you can get much fresher than that and it's a micro green so you know that the nutrient is very dense now a dehydrated basil is probably not the ideal thing as a matter of fact if it were me the ideal use for basil is to use the tiny micro greens you saw and put it in a caprese salad oh my gosh the mozzarella the balsamic vinaigrette with tomato especially a fresh homegrown heirloom tomato oh my gosh with some basil some fresh mica green basil that just is I just wish I had some Tomatoes right now I'm such a tomato fan anyway that's it guys you guys take care [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]
