well just recently on the channel not too long ago we did a build video step-by-step right out of the box didn't miss a single step for all of our beginner pilots of the mini apprentice that's that fair plane that I'm holding here in front of me this is a ready to fly plane that comes with everything you need for the airplane your transmitter even the batteries for the transmitter battery for the plane and the charger and we we had a great time building it with you guys that is part of and so will this video be part of our beginners series so all beginners are very welcome here we want to encourage you to get in the air teach you to fly how to fly and more importantly open up our comments section of these beginner series videos hopefully Abby and I will have a time and be able to answer those questions for you but we've also noticed some really great people chiming in to our comment sections specifically on these beginner videos to help out so if you have questions this is an awesome place to ask well we're going to fly in some wind today with a bigger more capable airplane so far in the beginner series we've only flown some smaller airplanes that really can't handle much wind at all and so in today's video we're gonna fly in some wind I want to talk you guys through that and we'll talk about the basics of flying this plane too now Abby had a great time maiden essere plane so from the beginners perspective on a very windy day this is a super capable plane to fly in some more wind we know that a lot of our viewers don't have many days where you just don't have wind and so you might be looking at something like this it's a little bit more expensive yes other options in our beginners series but this is going to be something that can really cut through that wind now today's a very gusty example I want you to be able to see the wind that we're fighting and dealing with and it's really not highly encouraged for a beginner to fly in this amount of wind but if you don't have many options well it can be done and this is a great plane for it so all I've done so far and you should always get in a habit of doing this turn your radio on first plug the battery in which I've already done downside to this plane is that you have to do it upside down luckily newer planes from Verizon are not quite like that they're doing for top mount floating because it's a little annoying to do that upside down then you need to set your airplane down on a level surface what it's going to do is after about three seconds I've already done this you're gonna see all the ailerons all those flaps on the wings the elevator the rudder they're gonna twitch around for about five seconds and it's just calibrating itself to know what level is to help stabilize that flight because we have safe assisted flight one this plane we can also turn that off once it stops twitching around again about five seconds worth of movement you just want to take your airplane and face it away from you this is what we're going to call a pre-flight check you know real airplanes have to do a major pre-flight check full of RC planes is smart to do a little pre-flight check on the ground the first thing we'll do that can be the most confusing the reason the nose is facing away from the plane we're going to check our aileron control surfaces again this is a very beginner friendly video I'm going to be speaking to the beginner I know that we have some events pilots on our channel here I'd like to watch our videos and I would encourage you guys to go scroll through the comments well while you're here at this video see if there are some unanswered questions down there people might need some help so what are a l'orange show those are the flaps on the main wing moving they're not actually flaps we're gonna call them flats today they're control surfaces really when we pull right just straight right over we should see the right side go up and the left side go down you can hold it and it should move incremental e the same will happen with the left side when we push left to the left hailer on will go up and the right will go down okay when you're when the plane is facing you it's going to be opposite of that with the rudder that's the left stick here with the throttle whether is maybe the rudder that's the river it's a vertical stabilizer and then the rudder is the tail on the end they're moving when we push right you should go right and push laughing should go left and the same goes for the wheel on the front of the plane there's a steerable wheel the elevators back over here on the right stick the horizontal stabilizer yep in the back of the plane are you moving when we pull back toward us or some people would say down the elevators should go up that can be confusing but really what's happening is you're pulling back like in a real airplane you're pulling back on the controller and so that surface will go up when you push forward or down here on the right stick when you push forward you should see the elevator goes down throttle we just don't do a little bit of throttle here the left stick is trouble we should get juice that's all you need to know to control four channels plane those are the controls the other switches that you'll need to know about are the rates this top right switch is high and low and is labeled down as low though flying in the wind I'm gonna have it in high race the switch in the back corner here is your throttle cut or arm and disarm if that's disarmed in the up position when I give it throttle the prop and motor will not spin that is a safety feature mainly so that if you're fiddling around with your plane loading your battery or whatever and you give it throttle it won't spin when maybe when you land and there's no one so carry in your plane yeah absolutely carrying the plane you can disarm that so then if you bunk not and then back here we have our flight modes in the zero position that is safe one so the most help it won't let you roll over at all in the middle position that is just a little bit of assistance you have a lot more realistic control over the plane but won't let it go upside down and then in this position total control over the plane flight assist is off except for as3x we talked about that in other beginner series videos too there is a button up here yeah so this is a panic and they bind but no matter what flight mode you're in should snap you to left so it's a quick button Nate and I did a video a long time about how to take a plane off and you always want the nose of the plane to be going into the wind so you see what way the wind is facing you want the nose to be going into the wind so your nose should have the wind hitting your face and that's the direction you want the plane to be facing when you take off in an ideal situation yes so planes out there if it wasn't so windy I could attack see tada this is a great airplane for taxiing and taking off and landing in grass are you ready I be ready okay so I'm in safe mode that's down on zero the flight mode and I'm going to give a lot of up elevators so pulling down on the right stick and I'm gonna ease into my throttle to make sure I don't roll over or anything and try to keep it straight but also throttle up and now as I'm in the air I just back up on the throttle a little bit and I can let my rice stick go the plane still wants to climb and that's because we're insane and we're game flying into the wind as I'm flying I'm just pushing left on the right stick and I've let go with the right stick I'm going to hold left and just a little bit of up elevator and now that my nose is into the wind depending on how much wind I have I may adjust my throttle sum but it looks like we're flying slow but the throttle is still at the same position [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so you what I tend to tell new pilots flying a plane like this that I kind of train in person is you really want to focus on the main wing when you're watching the airplane look at that main wing and see what it's doing and try to keep it level your overall goal on your first flight is gonna shoot for level flight out of the air Sun and to combat that you give just a little bit of up elevator input okay so the flight characteristics that are going on right there I want you guys to get a shot of my transmitter and I want you to see exactly what I'm doing way too far away okay let's skip this I think you're in the shadows but I'm step out of the shadows thank you so Nate's not touching the throttle he's only doing he's only doing very little input on the a or on and the elevator very small amounts what motor you flying in mate this is what's safe on but you'd want to do the same thing in the other modes to just very small increments at a time one of these days I mean I'll set up I want to come lower [Music] [Music] one of these days Abby and I are going to set up here I'm out of safe but also I can get lower faster we'll set up a second camera I'm sure and do some cool live shots felt like I was in the advancement they really give you a lot of control over the plane in the middle mode it just won't let you roll over completely on its side it knows me it stops you right there I mean it'll let you go vertical on that wing which is crazy but it won't let it roll over completely so well I wanted to show you how little input I'm giving some people when they first get their controller in their hands they'll push the stick the right stick or any of the sticks all the way over to the right all the way to the left over exaggerating the input and in order to fly a plane you don't have to do that to maintain flight the reason you have those additional throws additional movement with that joystick is so that you can do some cool stuff like crazy you know wing waving and we can do rolls and loops just because the full movement is there doesn't mean you have to do the whole full [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] so that's really cool thing to remember focus on that main wake try to keep them left maintain that nice smooth easy flight pattern and a lot of times people do get into a simple clockwise or counter clockwise it's more common flight pattern because it's just easier on the mind to think about keeping that plane in the air as long as your planes in the air you're not crashing and you're doing a great job so if you maintain the flight for a minute or two minutes three minutes time to give yourself a pat on the back because you're flying an RC plane and it's just one of the coolest things you can do in this world just a fun hobby that gets you outside even on cold cold days like today also I just want to say thanks to hobby for lending her real sock to put over our mind to try to kill some of the wind audio for you guys so I have one sock on and my shoes my boots are now gonna stink and we're just having a little bit of fun flying now really I just I want to open this up for dialogue what else is in the air right now just we're having a great time flying together let's talk about some more advanced maneuvers with this all-in-one video because we have nice long flight times with this plane so you can do some really fun stuff and I want to address a few more advanced maneuvers because we have intermediate pilots watching too [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] so if you want to attempt a loop I think that's one of the best first maneuvers to do the best way to do that is to get the airplane goes into the wind so your face should be into the wind if you were the airplane you should feel the breeze on your face if there is wind that's gonna help give lift and just fly straight so here we have the nose into the wind same same direction as earlier and I'm gonna throttle up some push down a little bit and then pull back pretty hard not all the way notice my wing wasn't quite level that's okay we still pulled off a loop we can keep doing that so you increase the throttle then to get a little bit more speed you're gonna nose down for just a second and then pull all the way back and you keep pulling back till you start going down again okay bad level then you want to level out the elevator and go easy on the throttle it's Ryan as you're coming down out of your loop you can actually ease off on the throttle because here's what happens if you don't so let's leave the throttle in the same position the whole time okay I'm not gonna touch the throttle I'm ninety percent throttle I do my loop and I'm still 90 percent throttle oh I could see my wing folding a little bit I probably lost a little bit of altitude but the main thing is a plane like this that really puts a lot of binding on that wing on a trainer plane so by easing off on the throttle when we come down out of the loop we are taking it easier on the plane so throttle up nose down pull back he's off on the throttle now that we're upside down I'm a zero throttle the wind really gonna say did you get pushed over I did yeah [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and I'm flying a little bit higher because really as a trainer plane this is about the height you would want to fly you know you don't want to be buzzed in the ground so I'm trying to like reenact how you would probably fly let's talk about a roll so this is a roll where we just kind of roll the plane over on its side and then keep it going back and show you guys what it looks like it's a little bit fast faster moving the slower to roll because we don't have as much lift on the wing and moving over the control surfaces so much easier to do these things with your nose into the wind [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] that's what we're gonna do here again so for a role on a plane like this we want to nose up and throttle up and then push all the way over on one of the ailerons little sloppy we've got some wind issues here and it's just not a great stunt plane it wants to be level so to do that roll again we put our nose into the wind nose up a little bit and roll over the reason we nose up is because watch this if we stay level nose and we roll it oh my gosh we are going to come out of that even a more stunt friendly plane the first few times you do your rolls you want to throttle up to about 80% nose up and then roll it over because when you pull out of it you're going to be more likely to be leveled when you're done doing this let's do a couple in a row here we'll do two different directions [Music] [Music] [Applause] I'm just gonna push the right stick all the way over leveler back out nose up push the right stick to the left all the way over so you're done with the roll now again you have to be in the most advanced flight mode to do all these maneuvers let's put it back in the intermediate flight mode it's number one on the radio watch what happens if we try to roll it over so I'm gonna push the right stick all the way over oh it just gets stuck right there and that's to me actually a little bit more dangerous if you think you can pull off a roll you just you just can't in this flight mode that's the limitation that it provides so you it's a little I don't know it's a great flight mode if you know you're not gonna do any stunts but if you think you want to do stunts here's how steep it'll let you climb really steep but can't do a loop here's what happens if we do this in safe mode this is all the way right this is all the way left and I have to hold it when I let go it actually brings the plane back to Center well okay let's talk about landing that is the most important thing to any new pilot get that plane back down on the ground safely in one piece and this is the thing that takes the most practice what I tell Abby and now really other new pilots cuz that you can land a plane is while you still have battery and you know you can maintain that level wing approach where you're going to land and this is always nose into the wind just like our stunts just like our takeoff your landing strip like you're going to land don't commit to it okay got a good buddy Gary Zion that came to our airfield flying stuff for the very first time an heiress Cal awesome little plane and we told him this and he did it about eight or nine times approach that runway like you're going to land but don't let those wheels touch down yet oh well because you know I just stopped too fast or or maybe too slow or you know what I just want to do it again and sometimes you come in perfect and you're like okay I can touch it down yeah so I I would encourage you to try and get in the mental mindset I need to do this and practice this approach many many times before committing to it but you know what if the confidence is there you're like you know what that looks like a real landing I think I could do that that's a real airplane landing hey go ahead and touch it down but oh I got a little sloppy there I got a gust of wind don't be afraid to bring it back around again that's a very common mistake the only time your airplane is really gonna get hurt is when it touches the ground so get it right I mean we have guys that have been flying for 40 years up on our airfield that will do multiple approaches so once you are ready to land do you think you can do the approach then what do you do with your control you want to get the nose down some get it close to the ground and fly along the ground like that as long as possible what about your throttle you're easing down on the throttle but if it looks like you might stall which means stopping in the air and then falling out of the sky I mean you still want to maintain some airspeed watch this you know we want to come in I'm coming down pushing down with some speed so we have lift then we get close to the ground and level off the stick and then just let those wheels touch down nice and together okay that's called bleeding off your airspeed you want to lose the speed to slow it down but not so much speed we'll do one more take off and landing here [Music] [Music] not so much speed that's my lipo oh yeah that you would stall and fall out of the sky there's kind of a happy medium and that's why I say do many approaches do multiple attempts at your landing I was very happy with that last landing probably the best landing I had with this so far there's a speck of dirt on my lens oh okay well let's let's watch this here we want to bleed off the speed close to the ground there's zero throttle and then we just kind of flare the last second little bouncy wings tipped over but it's on the ground in one piece that's a happy land that's a great landing so that's a full flight on our battery I want to taxi this in here because the nose is into the wind oh look at that I'm just that wind it is there you go guys just some general I would say well-rounded average first flight tips in the wind and with a plane like this one key thing to take away from this hopefully all you guys a physical classroom can say the same thing what's the one thing you'd remember about the wind nose into the wind always for takeoff or landing for stunts in the air just for best flight characteristics when that nose and your nose can feel the wind right then then you're facing the right way now when you're flying face whatever way you need to airplanes nose needs to be under the wind basic 4-channel airplane with some amazing flight assistance with state technology and as3x things we talked about pork but I want to open this up to a discussion in the comments with you guys guys what would you like to see next in the beginner series that's some wind to push that frog and any questions you might have leave them down there we'll do our best to get back to you I know we'll have some other great people down there looking out for you and leave suggestions of other things you'd like to see specifically in the airplane world because we're trying to stay focused here and might have an extra landing puff release flying like a kite so let me fall that wind it's fun when you get to be more a little more advanced than confident flying away and it's actually the fun challenge and one thing before we go a nice little shout out my buddy Michael for all that amazing fpv race through footage any of that we saw throughout we recorded earlier today and I just want to say big shout-out thank you to them well have their channel linked in the description box below be sure to swing over at the very least tell them thanks for the SPV footage because hey it looked awesome Dennis awesome awesome first ready to fly our seaplane first second or third probably and I still highly recommend this plane happy and I'll be tossing it around the airfield and teaching people to fly on it in person and stuff oh you know pros tips and tricks on how to get better at flying the only thing that's missing is a buddy box but this is a really great set up and this we've got to build video so if you're interested in getting something in the air the good size the great price will have this links below we'll also link some of our favorites spare batteries see it came with a really small battery but I actually flew on a 2,200 milliamp battery I'm gonna had great flight time and drink flight performance all that good stuff will be linked below thanks for watching see the next video [Music] [Music] [Music] you
