okay the items you're going to need are a insulated Phillips head screwdriver a insulated flat head screwdriver a package of number-6 by 32 by inch and a quarter long machine screws a shimming plate Electrical tester or voltage tester if you have one a handy dandy cordless little drill with the Phillips and a flat head and/or outlet spacers and I'll show you how this all works these will be the items you will need to complete this test okay first thing you want to do is you want to check if the powers on you want to make sure you shut it off get your tester now we need to go turn off the power okay I'm back take it out looks like we're clear to go I'm gonna use power tools make it go faster switch bits two Phillips notice how recessed it is here this is from the zip tool from the sheet rockers putting this over the duplex box and it shoved it so far back it bent the nails back there you can't get that out and then they needed this power plug instead of undoing the power plug and tilting it sighs way sideways and shoving it in the box they just smashed it all in so we're going to correct that day okay we're going to take these screws out we're going to replace them with longer inch-and-a-quarter to make that distance let me pull the plug in doubt and I'll show you what I mean okay we got the plug in doubt now we take our shim we're not going to use these because we got too much distance right here we're going to actually make a new wall plate because of these dings here this here will still suck in and the back duplex will still Bend so that's why we chose to use this pretty simple now we're going to take it shim everything back in there okay looks good take our handy dandy screw go right here okay now we want to check to make sure that we're lined up with the hole in the back and we are then I'll repeat this process all the way through these and you'll see what we have okay now we'll put on the cover plate notice how they're not recessed way back in there that outer shim really helped okay let's put on the cover plate looking good there now you've got a really hard plug in that's not recessed and we can put a lot of pressure on it because that metal plate is around there now I'm going to take you over to another plug in and show you how to use these shims okay remember first thing is check power let me go shut it off be right back okay okay I've got the power off remember I showed you these well there's a trick with these we measure the gap and what we want to eventually around up to us make a little thing like this so I'm going to take off three so you pull off three then you take them and you fold them on to each other like that all righty so what we're going to do then is you're going to place these on top of that screw and it'll snap in all righty so we'll take another one snap it in and I'll do that all the way around to all four of them nice and flush okay now we'll put on the faceplate and I think we've got to finish blotter these are pretty nice to use except for I didn't level these out so okay that one's good this one's not this one's not loop it over just little otherwise our cover won't fit all righty let's put our cover back on oh yeah put one in here whoops we're here then we'll put this back on and we got ourself a fix and again it's not recessed so if you don't got a really bad recess this these work great there you have it this is how you fix recessed plugins so they're flat for your cover plates hope you enjoyed my video if you can give a comment gives us give us a thumbs up and we appreciate if you subscribe to us ok thanks for watching my videos
