How to Fix Android File Transfer Not Working on Mac

hey how's it going guys my name is jake and today we're going to be talking about some issues that you may be facing when trying to transfer files from your android phone to your mac computer if you own an android and a mac i'm sure you know what i'm talking about and i'm sure you face some sort of issue when trying to transfer files between the two and the incompatibility between the two operating systems is really fueled by the competition between apple and the android manufacturers in this video we're going to try and troubleshoot some of the issues that you're having with the most common solutions for the android file transfer app and then after that i'm going to go over mac droid which is a desktop program that makes transferring your files from your android phone to your mac initial attempt at transferring their files is to use the android file transfer app as it's the most widely accepted tool and it's free to use unfortunately this app along with almost every single other app is riddled with incompatibility issues for a lot of people's phones it just will not work but here are four steps that you can try and take to make sure that you're doing everything you can to troubleshoot and see if it will work with your phone number one is check your cables and connectors i know it sounds really simple but there's been so many times where i've been trying to fix an issue i've done spent hours using these complex solutions and all i had to do was just check the cable sometimes it's not plugged in all the way sometimes it's a dead cable and also not all cables are able to transfer data some are specifically designed to deliver a charge so that they can be cheaper so definitely make sure that you're using a cable that is able to transfer data number two is update your software a lot of times using older software can result in incompatibility issues with transferring or a lot of other issues that you might be having it's always a good idea to keep your software up to date unless you have a specific reason not to update so try upgrading both mac os on your computer and android on your phone and see if that can fix any old issues that might be appearing you can upgrade mac os by going to system preferences and then software update and for android just go to settings software update number three is make sure your phone is in the correct mode sometimes your phone doesn't automatically switch to the correct mode when you plug it into your mac if you swipe down on your android and look for the section that says usb or file transferring tap it and make sure your phone is on transferring files rather than any other option and number four is try reinstalling the android file transfer app and restarting your computer if all else fails give this a shot there's been so many times that just restarting your machine will actually fix whatever issue is going on so just make sure to delete the file transfer app on your mac before you reinstall it and then restart your computer and see what happened now i do want to talk about mac droid which is a free desktop application that makes transferring your files between your android and your mac seamless the best part about mac droid is it doesn't have any incompatibility issues whereas android file transfer and a ton of other apps have so many known issues that they are incompatible with specific devices macdroid also lets you mount your android device right in the finder window so it really feels like a native integration into mac os this also creates a better workflow for transferring your files because you can do everything within the finder window versus going back and forth between different programs it also allows you to transfer files in adb mode which stands for android debug bridge this allows you to transfer files a lot faster than the standard mtp mode macdroid also lets you work with entire folders at once whereas a lot of other applications make you do individual files and to top it off macro actually lets you edit your files on your android device and you don't even have to transfer them to your mac so if you're tired of trying to transfer your
