hey welcome back so this video I'm going to talk about how to bring your lawn back to life instead of looking like a bag of potato chips so stay tuned [Music] all right so I'm not going to say that my lawn was uh in good condition it was dressing out as well but I got it and the annual rye grass is gone too a couple things you're going to want to know how to bring it back if your lawn is already dormant or you have sections and areas that are dormant um you're going to need some deep watering Cycles there all right uh do a deep watering maybe like an hour in the morning and do one late in the afternoon but not too late you don't want it to be like overnight uh completely wet if you can use something to hold in that moisture product that I used seems to be doing pretty well um hydrotine um it comes in liquid and granular the only thing with the granular just it's very very small particles you're gonna have to put your Sparta setting on the lowest and you're not going to be able to see these particles coming out so you're just gonna have to be very exact with your patterns and and make sure you cover everything yeah so a lot of us during the Spring cool season we like to keep our Lawns short so what happens is uh you know all this heat and drought snuck up on us again once we get it back and to maintain during the summer ultimately what we just need proper watering and then maintain a 3.5 or above preferably above if we're going to do this we need to start doing it now I always try to put out videos relevant to what's going on not extremely important but I would do a soil test because in my case I did a soil test I was low nitrogen and potassium potassium is a huge player when it comes to maintaining your lawn against drought and heat stress so you want to make sure your potassium levels are good if you're going to do any type of a soil amendments use like a summer fertilizer and don't go uh heavy on the nitrogen don't go pushing you don't want to push a lawn that's completely stressed first what we're going to do is we're going to bring it back with the watering with the hydrotine once it starts Greening up a little bit throw a little mild soil amendment I put down the 707 it's organic so I couldn't put down anything with iron so I went with something organic 707 it has a little bit of fast release and a little bit of slow release which is good all right so now we're going to need to uh strengthen up these roots for summer I was looking at my as you can see I was looking in my basement see what I had my secret layer and I still had RGS so this is the next product RGS root growth stimulator or if you could find any type of seat kelp for lawns it's a biostimulant since we're doing all this watering and temps are sometimes a little cool sometimes a little warm um if you haven't done a preventative fungicide throw one as well all right once you get everything growing just give it a little couple more days before I know you're going to be itching to get out there and mow but a stress lawn in the beginning obviously you're not going to mow it after doing all that stuff you want the grass to grow a little bit you don't want to cut it right away trust me once you cut it day or two it's going to look a lot better after doing all those things you'll you'll know when it's ready at first you think you'll know but it's not going to be ready just yet wait a couple extra days cut it don't cut it short and uh you'll see that it's going to start Greening up again and then that's it for um once you do all that stuff you just have to make sure you keep for us cool season keep that grass tall all right 3.5 or above preferably four um and and um make sure you water that's it we didn't think we had to water too much because it's spring and we we kept it low and then that's what happened so you know not too many cool season we could do that uh keep it long but there's there's some there's some cool season Lawns that that are able to maintain a low cut but um for the majority of us you're just gonna have to keep it high and make sure you water all right guys I'll see you in the next one [Music]
