[Music] hey guys and welcome to the first video on the channel hank space where i want to show you how to make a youtube channel in today's video i want to go over how to make a gaming video using hitfilm express the editor that i use for everything and it's free so get it in the description not sponsor anyway let's get right into this [Music] okay so once you open up hitfilm express you'll probably see something that looks like this if it doesn't um there's something wrong so to make a new project you'll go to the top left and hit new and depending on how you recorded your footage which i assume you already know how to do if not you can probably find one on youtube but you'll want to match your editor to your footage so for instance i know that i recorded in 1080p 60fps so i'll hit that i'll leave this stuff alone and hit ok so once it loads it'll probably look something like this i don't normally use it like this i'm just trying to make it easier for people who just installed it so i want to customize it to my needs i know that i'm not going to need the trimmer so i can hit this and then close panel and then i get a bigger screen here kind of to make it bigger i can actually go like this and there we go i also know i'm not going to use these meters so i can close that panel and i want to have my media down here and my effects up here so i'll drag the effects from here to the middle and as you can see here i'll drag it above this left arrow and go there resize it as needed and this whole interface is actually customizable up here in the window section so you can add and get rid of whatever things you want in fact they even have some templates here for different things i think it normally puts you on something like this uh editing tab but whatever but anyway we need to get our stuff in here so let's go to media hit import and find it in our files wherever that may be all right so once you have all your stuff in here you're going to want to drag this into the timeline like so and it is also very zoomed out so you can go here drag it use the scroll wheel and you can go through the timeline using this right here or this little dot up here but that goes much faster so i could even go all the way to the end of the clip just like that first things first you need to know a couple things number one this is just your little drag tool thing you just you just do this with that and this is your slice tool so you use that to slice stuff so for instance i know that this is just a big empty void of nothingness so i want to cut that out so i'll either click the slice tool or press c which is a shortcut and slice right here then i can press v to go back to the other tool right click you can click remove here or you can even hit the delete key or you can do ripple delete object which will take the other clip and bring it to where the other one was so for instance if i didn't do that it would look something like this there would just be nothing right here and if that's the case you can just right click and then hit ripple delete gap and there you go so you'll kind of just repeat that process of slicing stuff and deleting stuff until you have what you want and you'll add effects as you go so i'll do it again slice here move forward slice here ripple delete object you can also go frame by frame in the timeline by hitting the period and comma keys so for instance i want to make sure that i start at exactly the first frame of this selected clip right here so so when this thing pops up on the screen right here you can see that it comes on when i move forward i know that i'm at the first frame so for this clip i want to have it zoomed in on pancake man right here so i can do it two ways go to controls here scale up and then drag or even use these little numbers here drag those but that's harder or i could do this grab the edge of the screen hold shift when you drag so that way it doesn't go like this and then keep resizing it like that but i want it to be super zoomed in so we'll do that in the controls panel now i know that i don't really want any of this in the video so i'm going to use this until i get to the desired spot slice ripple delete object there we go you can also trim clips by grabbing the edge of them and clicking and dragging so it does something like this so there we go then delete the gap alright so i want to show you guys how to do a little trick here i'm going to go about here and in the control panels of this clip i'm going to hit this and this then i'm going to go six frames forward using the period key and then i'm going to scale it and then move it so it's on colby so what that did is it basically told the clip to zoom in and go on to colby in six frames so it takes six frames to go one two three four five six to be at the final frame of that animation there that's called keyframes so then i want to do it again so it zooms in on macio so i want to go to where maceo starts talking and you'd think that maybe it's just now drag it over to where he's at but if you look you'll see that because i didn't add an extra keyframe it does this over time which i don't want so i'll control z which is undo find the spot and then go here on position press alt and t to make a new keyframe on scale do the same thing go six frames forward and go over to macio now you'll see again over the six frame period it slowly moves over to macio and for this next part i'll add two more keyframes to position and scale go six frames forward and zoom in on me so it goes like this and to make this look just a little bit nicer you can right click go up to options and hit motion blur so now as it moves there's motion blur depending on how fast the motion is it'll make it blurrier so for this move where it zooms in on my face it is uh very blurry but it makes it look better just so you know um yes it is going to be a little choppy inside the editor um that's just how it is but once you export it it will be fine hopefully so for instance i'm recording this at 60 fps and this is what it looks like so now i have another little trick that we can do here i want to zoom in and make sure that it's right yep so for this we're going to add a transition here so that will be an effects go down and these are in alphabetical order so at the t there'll be transitions for video i want a zoom transition cross zoom so it zooms from this frame into the next so to add that you just click and drag and make sure that it's connected to both clips and then once you add it you can actually change how fast or how slow it goes so i want it to end right about there i kind of use this thing as like a little ruler so i know that i wanted to end right where maceo starts talking right here so i want it before that so it ends there so now that'll be much faster now for this next thing i normally wouldn't do it unless if you really can't hear the person talking or if you don't have a face cam because you need to keep people interested when making videos so for instance i can just have this clip here with just gameplay and talking now if you and your friends are interesting enough that's fine but it can be a little boring sometimes so i like to add these little subtitles to enhance the video i guess you can do that by going up here and hitting the text tool and then clicking on the screen where you want it to be obviously we can adjust it but this is just for now because it's subtitles i'm just going to do a maceo saying and he's literally just saying oh right now and because this is super boring looking we can select it then hit text right here change the font to whatever you want it to be i know the font i normally use is this one i had to download this one it's not a normal font you would have and i like to color code people so maceo is purple because well he told me to make him purple add a white outline not red that's disgusting make sure you have the text selected go down here and center aligned center alignment also i want to make sure that i have this tool enabled for this next part because we're going to readjust it and then scale it up to as big as you want it to be i know mine is around 223 and then down in the timeline you'll notice that there's now two layers one is the video and then the text is on top of that so you may have to scroll to see stuff so right click on the text go up to transform and i want it to be center in frame hit the text drag it down so i like to add a little animation to my text which they don't have just in the effects you have to do it manually with those keyframes we used earlier so hit the dot next to scale that turns on keyframes i want it to start small get big and then resize itself to 223 so we'll go small about there go about three frames forward go past the size that i want it to be in the end then go three frames forward again and then set it to the final size so now you have something that looks like this [Music] and i like to add a little motion blur to make it look professional i guess and i make sure that all your text has that you'll right click it copy or you can do control c then either right click and paste or control v then edit the text as needed [Music] and so for this because i want to have his text a different color we can just paste the text that we got earlier select it go to the text controls and just change the color his is normally [Music] red [Music] [Music] so i have my clips the way i want them here and i want to add a little sound effect here for when i get blasted in the face with a shotgun so i already have that imported so i'll just drag it in here and normally i'd want an audio file for this but this is a video so it's going to have to go above the other clip and to get rid of this video bit you can right click hit unlink and then remove it so now we just have the audio and i already know this is going to be extremely loud so we can grab this little line that runs through here bring it down to like that and for this clip i think i'll have a slow zoom in to express my uh sadness in my death so we'll hit the keyframes on scale and position make sure the selection tool is on because i started that here i want to go to the end of the clip and zoom in so as the clip plays out it'll zoom in and for the rest of the clip i ended up using the same exact techniques i already showed so once you're done you want to go over here to export go down to add to cue and then hit contents to come up like this i made a custom preset here so it forces the video to go to 2k resolution 60 fps the reason i force it to do this is not because it was filmed in 2k but when you save it as 2k and upload it to youtube it looks better but i wouldn't do that if your footage isn't supposed to be great so for instance if you recorded just by double tapping the share button on your playstation 4 it's going to be recorded at a lower resolution so when you try and force it to do 2k it's gonna actually make it worse so if you actually set up your project the right way and the frame rate is right with your clips you can actually just hit this and go to youtube 1080p or whatever suits you if you record it in 4k and you want to have your video in 4k you'd hit that but we'll just hit this and then either hit this or right click and start exporting why is it that fortnite has two applications now there's fortnight season five and then there's just fortnight with the mandalorian and what looks like i don't know what that is wait a second no you can gift to his v books i think the battle pass yeah the one second oh garrett's glitched i think i'm not glitched for me at least why do you keep running in this stuff on my screen wait dude there's people inside this house literally right in this room camping i took a bounty i took a bounty guys you can't see it's a tax back i like that at least the tack is back you know everything it's just in the sand right they may see definitely shoot you through the sand there's no way they can't that's so unfortunate
