How To Drift EASILY in Forza Horizon 5

boys welcome back to yet again another forza horizon 5 video because boy oh boy have i been loving this game man now today we actually have something that i think is probably a pretty sought after topic and with all the people that are just getting into the game we're about to be getting into the game when it general releases on the 9th of november a big question that often gets asked is how do you drift in forza horizon 4 forza horizon 5. now although i'm probably not the best at drifting um at least not on forza horizon 5 just yet i do have a very good understanding of how to do it because i drifted quite a bit in forza horizon 4 and i make quite a large number of drift tunes so what i'm doing today is i'm gonna be breaking it up essentially into three parts all the parts are gonna be in this video but like just three different main things when you're drifting that you have to focus on and although i am driving on a wheel right now everything i'm saying is gonna be applicable if you were to use it on controller it's all pretty much works the same it's just for me my wheel has to turn 900 degrees before i'm going one way or another and if you're on controller it's just like a little bit quicker to turn left and right but all the same principles are going to apply so without wasting any more of your time let's get into the first part here and that actually is the steering as i take out every single light post how does the steering work into your drifting well if you're on wheel or controller it's actually not as important as you might think um generally when i'm drifting on the wheel there's a lot of stuff in the city let's get somewhere less crowded give me a minute here also before it comes up just the drift tune of the supra i'm using this video is right there it's just the mark 5 super the 20 20 1 7 3 0 1 2 7 2 4 you're welcome to use it anyways let's do a bit of drifting at the festival here since it's a little more open i can kind of show you guys what i mean with the wheel so as you can see if i'm drifting from the left to the right i'm kind of just laying the wheel rotate on its own to where it wants to go and i guess on controller it's a little bit different and obviously to some degree you are controlling it uh especially if you're going around tighter corners but you're not like forcibly choosing like each direction unless you're on like a 270 degree rotation or a controller but like it's mostly you kind of just let the car go where it wants to go and follow and steer opposite so how steering and drifting works is as your body of your car points one way your tires are pointing the opposite so let's let's take a look at that my car is angled right right now my wheels are all the way turned left i'm trying to like draw out the drift just to prove in the point but as you can see body was right wheels were left perpendicular and essentially what that is you're just trying to pull your body of your car back to the other way and then your wheels do the opposite thing and this is pretty much just how drifting works so as far as steering in my opinion it's probably the easiest thing to learn about drifting because if you've ever watched the movie cars it's literally turn right to go left turn left to go right that's how it works so let's get into our second part here which is the use of the e-brake now the last part we're gonna have is pedal control in my opinion that's the most important so we're going to save that for last but the use of the e-brake is something that's really undervalued i think and it's very important in forza horizon 4 drifting let me show you something so this is me drifting with no e-brake it's possible but it's a lot more random and i'm relying more on how much i'm revving my rpms it doesn't look as clean i can't get the lines i'm wanting now there is such thing as clutch kicking uh but in my opinion it's not as useful now i'm gonna show you guys watch my left foot right here what that's my that's my e-brake by the way i don't have it says clutch i have that as e-brake when i'm wanting to initiate a corner press it down and just let yourself start sliding until you're into that corner and that's when you start laying on the gas and gradually building your way into it but we're going to cover that in just a second we're focusing on now is e-brake and the e-brake can do two things that are very important for you the first thing it can start your rotation and your car to start turning to the angle that you want to enter your drift the second thing it can do and this is in my opinion the most important thing and it's kind of slept on uh and you'll see a lot you'll probably see a lot of like people doing it or notice it now that you're knowing about this but it can help you hold your drift is say you want to just stay left like this hold the e brake and just slide into your drift and then take over with the gas if you're about to lose a drift e-brake it's literally that easy i'm not showing it off right now too well it's kind of slick i don't know if this ever dries up it's not raining anyways though e-brake more important than you think just get a use and also it's different for every car not every single car you're going to be using the e-brake the same way just get used to feeling out how a car feels and that's generally how much e-brake you're going to need most of the time it's just going to be little taps but every now and then like right there you got to hold it to continue the drift around that corner it's tricky to explain but very very key now boys it's time for the most important thing when it comes to clean lines and drifting and that is oh finally dried up let's go and that is even more important than braking which i don't really break ever i just use my e-brake pedal control pedal control is so insanely important because i feel like most of the time when people get into drifting they want to hold the gas down all the way all the time and there's some instances where that can work and there's some cars that i guess that works with but for the most part and especially if you're playing on wheel it's figuring out how much to feather in order to hold the drifts you want to and knowing when to let off the gas and just gradually putting more gas onto your car it's so arbitrary to explain arbitrary is that the proper word but a mixture of good e-brake control and good pedal control is gonna make you a phenomenal drifter let me show you kind of what i mean here or at least try to i'm gonna get to the drag strip here because i feel like that's a good opportunity for me to show you because it's just like a straight line so i can kind of be open and not have to worry about hitting anything so lots of the time you're going to be drifting straight roads and while you're drifting a straight road you probably are gonna be wanting to transition from the left to the right and although you probably could in some instances just have your gas down all the way it's not gonna look as clean and you're not gonna be able to hold those chains to where you want to hold them to so see if you can notice my foot here as i'm switching from left to right on every drift as i'm literally as the car is centered my foot's off the gas as it starts turning the other way a little bit of gas again i feel like i should have set up like some sort of foot camera but i think that like you can see okay my foot going down coming up and even if you're going around a corner like this foot just slightly down and this is a mixture of e-brake and pedal control because look too much pedal you're gonna go into that wall but that doesn't mean you have to shift gears if you have good pedal control this is maybe me being lazy for the most part you part you can just stay in one single gear that's why i like to tune all my drift tunes in a certain way so that four five six seventh gear are all very similar so i can just pick one and generally stay in it anyways boys i think i covered the most important steps of drifting in this game and now obviously i didn't display it perfectly i'm still myself getting used to drifting in this game it's a lot different than forza horizon 4 but the principles are the same it's just getting used to how it feels if that makes any sort of sense if this drifting tutorial was at all useful a
