all right checkers you got your marker yep all right we're gonna draw a sweet praying mantis today huh you're praying all right dude let's do this yeah we hope you guys are going to follow along with us we got our markers and we got our paper horizontal huh yep all right first step we're going to draw the pray mantis's head up here in the top left you're going to have to draw it a lot different than that we're gonna draw two big eyes okay we're gonna draw him like he's looking right at us and we're gonna draw these eyes kind of far apart i drew this one a little smaller than my other one you want them to yeah they look like alien eyes that's awesome it really does this this insect looks like an alien all right so draw connect them we're going to color these in too then we're going to do kind of a curved v at the bottom just like that he does i think the praying mantis looks like an alien so if your drawings at home look like aliens it's perfectly fine because just like this yep it's like an alien with giant eyes okay now let's draw his abdomen oh you drew huge eyes and your marker's kind of running out huh you go back over it there you go good job nice all right let's draw his abdomen the middle part of his body okay we're just going to draw a line that comes out this one's going to be pretty simple we're going to keep this one simple more like an alien yeah more like an alien all right then we're going to draw another line that comes out and that's for the other part of his body yours is just going to keep looking like an alien all right and then we'll just do a contour line at the end good job all right okay now let's do his front legs and these are the legs that look like he's praying okay so we're gonna do one line that comes down up and then back down okay yeah so it's kind of a handshake he looks like he's praying that is that's how he got his name it's because he actually looks like he's praying he's got his arms and they're up kind of like this together is that cool yeah all right okay so we're doing those three parts to his his his uh legs his front legs and we're going to draw a line that comes down and curves in just like a lot of our other insects that we've drawn this week okay and then this this one's going to be a little bit different we're going to come out just a little and then we're going to do a zigzag line then we're gonna come back in to the yes good job okay now we're gonna do on this one we're gonna do kind of a little zigzag line two down and then we're gonna do an upside down v good okay now let's make him look 3d like he's got another leg in here so we're going to bring this line down good and then we're going to draw another line up and then we're going to imagine it going through his leg and up here on the other side okay and then we're going to draw the same curved line that we kind of did to end it over there good okay now let's add the thickness to his legs we're going to come down curve in so it looks a lot like that one good job now we're going to do this other line so curve i lost track when i was like this and then i turned it over here i thought that was it oh yeah you got to be careful when you turn your paper around you get you'd lose your place and then i'm going to do a zigzag line and then a curved line in yep keep going same thing over here zigzag line and we'll just end it right into his leg like that so the v is behind his leg and yours you kind of end it a little different but that's perfect it works good okay should we do his antennas so we're going to do one line that comes out and then back in and if we had more room we'd probably draw these a little bit bigger and i'm going to do the same thing over here okay here we go let's do the rest of his body okay yeah all right so we're going to draw a curved line that comes out and we're going to keep making his body look really long and we're going to end it right there for his back leg because his back leg's going to come up over his body good okay now let's do his middle leg and we're going to do a little shape that comes out and then we're going to bend that line one two three for those three segments yes okay and then we're gonna come out of this part come down and into the into his knee oh you kept going that's right curl in right here and then i'll draw that part that you just drew and then we're going to curl in good thing i didn't do anything else no that's good okay and then we'll do the same over here and we'll do a little hook you can do that curved for his claws cool okay now let's do the leg that's coming up back behind him okay so we're going to draw a little shape right here on the end of that line then we're going to draw a line that comes up and then down and then the little end the little foot at the end i'm gonna run out of room i want claws on his back legs okay his legs back here are not like the grasshopper they're really thin and then curve in except they probably should have made in the same thickness as the middle leg that's right then we'll come down for this part and then it's curl in and then it's foot and then we can do the claws i'm going to go back this way i'm running out of room all right okay i don't know what's what they're doing all right let's try the top of this uh thorax and we're gonna do a curved line comes back and then we're gonna imagine these lines going through his legs i'm kind of running out of room here and we're going to take this line right now you want to make his body really long so i took both both of his uh his uh the lines for his body all the way through good okay and then we can take another line that goes through here and then splits and splits this body right there good awesome yes good job okay now let's draw we want them to look 3d so we're going to do is other legs okay so we're going to do the line that comes here here and here this is for his other middle leg good okay and then we add the thickness to the leg and thickness to this one so i'm curling in at the very end yep and that makes them look like segments curl for his foot and then the curved w all right ready for his back leg the last step we're going to do up and then i'm going to i'm going to stop short come down looks 3d i'm going all the way so this leg is on the back side of his body so we want to make sure that we don't draw through his body yes good job and then that last one for his foot good okay do the same add thickness and curl in and then down and then use all the overlapping so that it looks 3d good job then we're going to do his foot and you can put the little curved w's at the end dude that is the coolest spring madness ever give it five dude that was awesome you have fun yeah we hope you guys had fun
