all right another great day out at a Valley family cabin this rebar railing right here this is the railing that we're gonna be talking about today I already posted one video on here and there's a lot of questions again this is just one way to do it but this was a cost effective way but I can figure out how to do it so the place that we're gonna work on today is this little area right here this length right here okay so the first thing you're gonna need to do is you're gonna need to come and measure out is roughly 94 so a little quick tip just to help out 94 is a pretty easy one but when you get when you get a little bit harder numbers so if I put my tape and match it up right on the 94 right there and then I woke up at the top up there I don't know if you can see that number but that should be right at the middle so 47 measure this out the reason that's important is this one's gonna have a center snap okay so the things that we're gonna need for this I've already cut mine to length and so I'll have a couple extra pieces those will come in handy later on so as far as the layout just a couple quick tips for every but a railing you have it's roughly gonna be about four pieces of rebar now the rebar has been cut to 28 and a half inches and the distance between here and here is 25 and three-quarter inches so that means the total distance off the deck is gonna be three feet between your your rebars space right there so what I did to make sure that I didn't end up in a bad situation was because you always start off your center piece right here the 4x4 post is actually three and a half by three and a half so if you just use this as your layout tool you'll be fighting every time so you start in the middle and that makes your gaps on either end equal and what I did is I just measured out the center of this 4x4 post and so it's got a mark on one side and a mark on the other so you line it up you get it right in the center and now I've got a mark there and then I draw a line on the other side over here so I draw a line on this side and Mark my centerline my centerline and you can go smaller if you want so you don't have to repaint [Music] and so that's pretty simple right doesn't take a whole lot of brainpower to make that one work out so then once you get your your layout done you can do one of two things you can just copy and cookie-cutter copy the same different thing on this end or you can grab your speed square and you can lay it out on the other side and then just mark right at an inch and 3/4 on there ok so that's enough marking on there you guys will get the point so let's grab our drill next so on this one right here this is a 5/8 inch bit and I kind of like this auger bit it just seemed like it didn't didn't rip the drill out of my hand as much now up here at the cabin we don't really have the option to we don't have any power have any cell coverage it's really really kind of remote so everything's battery-powered but this this bit seemed to make my batteries last the longest what I've done was is with the measurements that I told you earlier you're gonna drill down into the top three quarters are an inch and a half and you're gonna drill into the bottom an inch in inch and a half so that way the rebar fits inside there and you still have your three foot total and height greatly now some people what they like they like put that 2x6 over the top of it yeah you can do it so that the lip hangs out on the outside and that finishes it up pretty good what I did is I just wrap some taper on that bit right there at three quarters of an inch so that I know when I drill down right [Music] but as soon as I hit that that tape mark I know that that's where I need to stop and now it's just the tedious tedious long period of time in order and the l-brackets have been enough you can see couple of them underneath here and then once you get them on there the pain I've been using on this one it's good enough to cover them up I just don't need to do it once you get done with your railing though there's a couple different options if you really like this parade kind of look of the natural rebar with a little bit of the rest staining on it then grab some polyurethane and just spray your rebar before you put it in me I'm kind of waiting for it to rest a little bit this has been a year on there and it hasn't done much of anything so it's up to you and then when you get done just go through and you can see that I forgot to do it you can see the cracks on the top of this if you'll put caulk so cone caulk around the bottom of these it won't collect water down in there and then in the winter freeze and blow those out but anyways that's hopefully that answered all the questions that you asked me that didn't get answered in the first one but that's rebar railing hopefully made easier for you
