i'm hoping that they're gonna lay their eggs here and then since everything's angled it's gonna roll away what's up guys welcome back to the channel hope everybody's doing well today today we're working on the nest box right here i bought some fence paneling and i'm just kind of winging it and trying to put together something right now it's not a how-to video or anything like that but i just want to document it and have something to reference when referring to the to the coupe and everything this is like six inch um fence boards something cheap from home depot since wood prices are expensive now but yeah i'm trying to make a lid and do a roll away feature but yeah let me get working and we'll check back and see how everything is all right guys i did a lot of this off camera but um these are just fence planks from home depot they're like four bucks and scrap wood so i went ahead and did the two sides right here to hold it to hold it together i got the scrap wood on the ends first i did the two ends and and then i cut to size the the backing and attach the backing to the end right here i got this in place and let me see up front i added two boards right like this to add more um structure to the to the box on the bottom right here i wanted to have it kind of sloping with the mesh so when they lay the egg it rolls to the back right here i'm just still trying to figure that out we just gotta probably do this in two layers to get a little higher and then we'll add the mesh to have it sloping down all right guys this is what i have um you guys can see i just got the six inch um fence boards like i told you guys earlier i'm not sure if it shows up on the camera but i got about nine pieces no seven pieces of the fence board and i got scrap wood this one by two so what i did was um i cut the strips and then i formed the ends attaching it all together the two ends right here this side right here i have the two planks up and then everything held together with the strips and then from there i cut the back piece holding it together with the strips as well and from there i attached it to each other like right here two screws each just forming a box and then i added these strips of wood up top right here for structure and then on the bottom i added one of these strips on the bottom and then running towards the back i added strips going down so everything's kind of angled so i'm hoping that they're going to lay their eggs here and then since everything's angled it's going to roll away to the back it's the back right there i only gave it 10 inches from front to back because i don't want them getting comfortable in here and like sleeping in their in their nest box so i'm trying to make it as short and as small as possible so this way you're just going to come in here and lay eggs and then i'm hoping everything just rolls back like so in the back i'm going to add some microfiber towels or foam or whatever so it doesn't hit the board but yeah this board right here i screwed it in so they wouldn't have access to the eggs and everything let me know if you get and let me know if that makes sense to you guys but i just threw all of this together on a whim i didn't have any plans or anything all i knew was that i wanted a box and i wanted the bottom to be sloping so we can roll have the eggs roll away like that one day lay the eggs all right guys it's towards the end of the day and i got the box in place and everything pretty tired i need to make some adjustments but i'll do that another day i'm just happy that the box is in so if you take a look at the cooper here there's a nesting area and had to close up the hole up top and have to add some paint up there but yeah this is what i have for today it's gonna be a communal and then i didn't add um dividers or anything like that they're just gonna have to share but the box is back there [Applause] i'm gonna take a look right here it's sitting back here you can see that and i need i need to reinforce the top right here when i screwed down the hinges my screws were too long and it kind of shut everything down tightly and then when i tried to pry it open my whole top busted so i need to add um extra support on on the outside or the inside i'm not sure yet i'll sleep on it and i'll come back and fix it another day but this is what i have so far you see the boxer here my screws are coming off and everything and i have to come back and reinforce it but here's the box i need some padding i'll go to um dollar tree sometime this week and we'll add some foam to the back right there so when the eggs roll back oh just hit the pad instead of the hardwood hopefully this works out but i'll be sure to update you guys the guys the hens would be should be laying eggs within three or four weeks i'm not even sure now but yeah the box is in place and i'm pretty happy about that anyways i'm gonna call it a day and i'll update you guys with everything next week so stay tuned for more videos besides that i'll catch you guys on the next one bye [Music] you
