how's it going guys it's Kyle or the how-to guy1 123 here and in today's video I'm going to show you how to disable Windows co-pilot from Windows 11 and 10 the first thing you can do if you just want to hide the co-pilot button from the taskbar and you really don't want to make any changes to your system is to right click on the taskbar and choose taskbar settings a settings window will open and here you can turn off the copi preview button on the taskbar this however won't turn off co-pilot and you'll still be able to open it with the keyboard shortcut Windows key and C there are two ways that you can turn off Windows co-pilot completely one of which is using the group policy editor and the other uses reg edit I'll first show you the group policy editor method just keep in mind that the group policy editor is not available on the home editions of windows so if you run the home edition skip ahead to the point in the video where I remove cop pilot with regge edit first click on the search bar and type gpedit.msc and open up the group policy editor once the group policy editor is open under user configuration open the administrative templates folder then Windows components now scroll down and look for the windows co-pilot folder and click on it you'll then see this turn off Windows co-pilot setting double click on it to configure it this configuration window will open select enabled in order to turn off Windows co-pilot click apply and okay and then restart your computer once you logged back into Windows the cop button will be removed from the taskbar and you won't be able to open it with the windows key and see shortcut on your keyboard the show co-pilot preview option will also be removed from the taskbar settings to remove co-pilot with reg edit click on the search bar and search for regge edit and open it up once regge edit has opened expand hkey current user software policies Microsoft and then Windows now right click on the Windows key and choose new then key name the new key Windows co-pilot make sure that there are no spaces in the name now right click in the white space on the right hand side and choose new then dword 32-bit value name the new value turn off Windows co-pilot make sure to type it exactly as I have it here with no spaces double click on turn off Windows co-pilot and change its value from 0 to one now click on okay we have just disabled co-pilot for the current user we can turn off Windows co-pilot systemwide as well close hkey current user and open up hkey local machine then software policies Microsoft and windows here we're going to want to create a new windows co-pilot key like we did before so right click on the Windows key and choose new then key name the new key Windows co-pilot now right click in the white space on the right hand side and choose new then dword 32bit value name the new value turn off Windows co-pilot now double click on turn off Windows co-pilot and again change the value from 0 to 1 Click on okay now restart your computer once you logged back into Windows as like with the GP edit method the windows co-pilot button will be removed from the taskbar and you won't be able to open it with the windows key and C shortcut on your keyboard Additionally the show co-pilot preview option will also again can be removed from the taskbar settings one final thing I want to mention is that if you open up Windows search you will still see the windows co-pilot icon even though co-pilot is disabled however if you click on it it will open up Microsoft Edge and bring you to the web version of Windows co-pilot rather than opening the co-pilot widget in Windows and that's all there is to it to disabling Windows co-pilot from Windows 11 and 10 if this video helped please leave a like if it didn't leave a dislike and I'll see you guys in my next video
