How To Cut Out Sink In Butcher Block or Laminate Countertops

guys in today's video I'm gonna show you how to cut out a hole for this drop in kitchen sink in the Butcher Block countertop first you need to position the string upside down on the countertop Center your kitchen sink make sure to cut a hole for kitchen sink behind the kitchen cabinet using a pencil trace a line around the edge of the sink foreign draw a 5 16 of an inch line inside of the outline of the sink and this is how you can find 5 16 of an inch on your tape measure using the pencil I'm gonna draw a couple dots inside of the outline of the sink as for installing a drop in sync the cutout will be narrower than the broadest part of the sink the rim needs something to sit on so the cutout should be just big enough to fit the sink Basin through [Music] I'm gonna try to make the Inner Line more visible because once we start cutting the Butcher Block countertop will have a lot of dust and it's gonna be really easy to lose the Inner Line in the dust I'm using 5 16 of an inch wood drill bit to drill four holes in the countertop this will allow you to fit the jigsaw blade inside the cut line insert the jigsaw blade into the wood and make sure to use a new wood plate on the jigsaw for the cleanest cut as you begin cutting Don't Force the saw ahead this can cause the blade to bend which will lead to Crooked cuts to start cut one side of the opening then move to the opposite side [Music] foreign as you can see the jigsaw leaves marks on the countertop so which video till the end and I'll show you how to get rid of them really easily I'm gonna put this piece of plywood over the cutout piece and secure it with a couple of screws now when this cutout piece is secured I can continue cutting the last side if this piece isn't secured it could potentially break the countertop your kitchen cabinet and kitchen sink drain line so now I can simply remove this cut out piece from the counter top foreign the kitchen sink I need to vacuum all of the Dust [Music] now it is time to install the sink simply lower the sink into the cutout now I'm gonna show you how to get rid of marks left from jigsaw I'm using 220 grit sandpaper slightly sand butcher block with sandpaper foreign congratulations you just learned how to cut a hole for your drop-in kitchen sink in the Butcher Block countertop I hope that this video was helpful if you like the video hit the like button subscribe to my channel and share this video with others thank you so much for watching and I'll see you in the next video [Music] foreign
