Okay, in this video, I'm going to go ahead
and do a teacher demonstration of how to create your own modular configurated blocks. So in the previous module, you guys, you know,
imported a pattern and the DXF pattern and you somehow sewed it up. So I know that was a really big challenge
for you. So this module, go ahead and open up that
project file that you already created and worked on. And we're going to turn that into a block
module pattern. Okay. So right now I have what looks like a basic
sloper styled some kind of dress here. I know a lot of you guys are beginners. And I get this question all the time, like,
What is with these lines? How do I get rid of them? Just a quick review, the purple line, those
are baselines, they're really just reference lines, they don't have any power to do anything,
just kind of shows you where something was, but then you like either deleted it or moved
it. And they just kept it there. Because it might be helpful. The red line is also like a marking line,
but it has like a little more power than a baseline, you can actually right click the
red lines and say like cut my pattern or so something to it. So it's really good practice to just kind
of ask yourself, what's the difference between baseline and internal line and the pattern
pieces. If you ever wanted to draw baselines for whatever
reason, it's going to be over here on little dashed line, this tool over here on the 2d
side, the one right above it is to draw internal lines. And then the one above that is to draw an
actual pattern piece. So that's just when you kind of have to get
used to when you are drafting in on the computer draft pattern pieces draft lines on the pattern
piece. And there's two kinds of lines of draw, internal
and then base. But a lot of times when you do something that
baseline just automatically come up. So if you don't want them, you can delete
them. clo automatically locks them. So if you right click, let's see here, it
looks like I probably have to be on the 2d side. To do that. I'm going to right click, and it's you can
unlock all baselines. And after you do that, you can even right
click and delete all of them if you want it or you can go in with your selection tools
and delete them one by one. But maybe you don't want to delete them. You know if that's the case, you don't have
to look at them. So there is the toggle menu of the 3d garment. And we can say right now there's a little
blue.by this tool which says show internal lines by click at one time that blue dot goes
away. And now my internal lines are no longer visible. And right next to it. We have baselines as well, sometimes, you
know, so there's a lot, there's so many tools here and glow. So I always recommend, like just play around
with these little toggle menus. And this is especially for viewing things
and, and there's like a little preview of what it does. So okie dokie. Again, if you don't like those little lines,
I bet some of you guys are like, let's that that might be our stitching. So maybe I don't want to look at that. Okay, it's not went away. Okie dokie, I'm gonna hit the number two to
kind of zoom out here. So let's get back to the project, which is
to make the modular blocks. So we are going to change modes, we are actually
in simulation mode right now there is a drop down menu and you're just going to go to modular. Okay, and then Clow has some template presets,
you're gonna have to open up one of those. You can see all these tabs, there's a T shirt,
there's different types of T shirts or shirts, panel pants skirts. I mean, this one, maybe I could break it up
to be a skirt and a top if I wanted. But today I'm just gonna choose to do a dress. Is this a one piece? Or is it wasted? Yeah, actually, this is probably perfect for
me. Who wasted plus, wow, oh, it has cuffs in
the collar. So a little bit more complicated. Looks like probably just the waste of wine
is best for this particular style. So I'm going to go ahead and click OK. So give myself a little bit of room on my
screen, I should probably minimize my, my menu here and my object browser, my property
editor and even my library. So all I do is click on this little arrows. And then now the object browser now is a tab
and so as a property editor and to get more space, I can do that as well with my library
over here. So I'm going to click one time. And now my library is hidden as a tab and
I can open it back up if I would like to. I don't really need to see the 3d window right
now. So I mean, if I wanted I could, I mean maybe
Yeah, probably just make that really small. Okay, I'm going to zoom out a little bit. And I think to get started what I'm going
to do I'm in the letter, a tool, our big transform pattern tool keyboard shortcut, a. Just going to select all the pieces and just
kind of scoot them out of the way. I don't need them on top of the blocks quite
yet. I'm going to pan by holding my scroll wheel
and clicking it. Okay, so now I just got to figure out what
is what right. So okay. So this is most likely the front bodice, the
front bodice front skirt, and then over here is probably the backboard, his back skirt. So I'm going to go ahead and select just my
friend bodice. And I'm going to go ahead and stick it in
the block. Oh, I got a little message. The selected symmetric patterns with sewing
have been converted to symmetric patterns. Okay, so again, I had it as symmetric with
sewing and they're undoing that. So it's no longer symmetric with sewing. But it still is a symmetric pattern, which
is good. So I'll say okay. So that's probably going to be a problem with
my skirt as well. I will say, if anyone's having trouble getting
these in oopsies, I'm going to hit Edit, undo. Um, I would probably make sure it's not symmetrical. So you'd want to right click your pattern
or right click your fold line and just say remove linked editing. That's my little tip. Do I have something weird connected? Okay, there we are. Okay, so now I'm going to go ahead and get
this skirt in. Okay, so same message I got with the bodice
it's getting rid of my sewing, winked, things. I'm going to delete all my baselines. They're kind of annoying me. Do I even need my internal lines? I actually don't know if I need my internal
lines. It's not really an option right now. Okay. Got it. Okay, um, cool. So now this sleeve, I have two notches right
here. So this part gets sewn to the back. So I'm thinking this sleeve actually belongs
in this block. So I'm assuming this block gets sewn to the
front, like this little line gets on the front. And how do I know, I'm going to go ahead and
turn on my edit sewing tool. That's a good way to see where things are
sewn. And if I hover over it, I can see Oh, this
block is going to get sewn to this block. Well, if I have my front, armhole here, I
want the front armhole here. So and on this side, and this is my front
animals over here. Apparently, if I'm looking at those correctly,
yeah, because there's one notch. So crcl, there's one notch that would be in
the other one. Let me pan over. So let us just grab this guy. zoom out a little bit. I'm going to go ahead and click and drag and
drop him in here. Oh, you guys get this message too. Okay, so again, this was selected to be symmetrical
with the other sleeve, it is letting me drop it in there, at least some I know some students
have had a problem with not even being able to drop it in. So that might be because they have a block
that's on the fold. Like I said, play around with it, right click
Remove link to editing. And hopefully that will solve your problem
if you're running into not being able to put it into the template. Okay, so I'm gonna go ahead and take this
other sleeve. And let's go ahead and put him in the other
side. And might as well just put my bodies here. Click and drag. Yep, same message, but it's, it's working
fine. In this guy, he's also gonna give me the same
message, I'm ready for it. oopsies, click and drag. So I knew that wasn't working because when
I had it on top of it, see now there's a blue outline on my template. Earlier, I was clicking something funny. And my template was still black, so it wasn't
working. So you want to make sure it's blue highlighted
blue, and then you know it's going to be placed in it. Cool. Okay, cool. So that's how you want to get started by clicking
and dragging. The next step is going to be to actually sew
your pattern pieces to the template. So just as a reminder, I'm gonna hit my little
edit sewing tool. The Edit sewing to the block is already sewn
to the block. But right now my pattern is sewn to my pattern,
I actually need to change my stitching so that it's sewn to the block as well. Okay, so do that. You know what, I might have to just delete
all my stitching to be honest with you. which is unfortunate, cuz I know he worked
so hard to do that. I hope I'm wrong. I'm up there actually isn't wait easier way
to do that. I wonder Hmm. Okay. Now I'll just go ahead and research it. So now you get a lot of really good practice
using your different sewing tools. Okay. Feedback from the class. A lot of students are having more success
with the free sewing tool. So maybe I will use that So I can click here
to here. And then that's going to get sewn from here
to here. Okay, great. I'll do the other side. So I'm going to click one time, I'm kind of
cruising down my seam. And at the end, I'll click one time. Then I get to start my next theme. So I'll click one time, all crews down and
click one time. So now it knows Oh, this armhole gets sewn
to this part of the blog, that part of the pocket sewn here. It's like one big happy family. I'm going to click right here, I'm going to
go up to the top. And then I'm also going to go here, notice
how I start kind of in the same direction. Like I started at the underarm on my sleeve,
so I also started to Under Armour my block, I didn't start at the shoulder, because then
that kind of criss crosses it. I wonder if anyone will run into that issue. I'm going to click here one time. And I'm going to click here. Now I'm going to click one time at my block
all that stuff, so you kind of get an idea. I'm gonna go ahead and do the shoulder seam
here. I'm going to click one time here. Just for fun, what if I switch to the segment
tool, do it. So I can click one time on this segment. Notice my little tab is close to my neck. So if I click on the block, you want the tab
also close to the neck. I'm going to do the side seam, click one time,
click one time, click one time, so I'm actually not really having any trouble. So sewing that together. Now I do need my darts. I was saying because some students were having
issues using the segment tool. And they thought three free sewing was better. So something to think about that. Now the darts, they do not get sewn to the
block, they just get some to themselves. So that's why I actually sewed them together. Our waistline, okay, so it's always nice to
get So down here, so I'm not gonna use mainly, I could use the segment one, if I hold Shift,
I'm going to hold Shift, I'm going to click it. Click, click, and click. And then I guess I will that work. That totally did not work. oopsies Okay, I'm gonna do to get rid of those
purple stitches. Let's try the free sewing this is what's a
tips, I like to use m to n. But a lot of students were saying they're
having issues with it, and it's better to hold shift. So let's try it. I'm going to click here. I'm holding shift right now click Oh, no,
no, no, this is gonna work. I don't think it's gonna work at an undo. Failed shift right now, pushing Shift, click,
click, click through there turning different colors. So I think that's not going to work. Okay, I'm going to try the end to end tool. So I'm going to click one time. I have a student who doesn't use this, he
just uses shift and he likes it so much better. For some reason, I don't push it the right
way. Okay, so that's the whole theme I want to
so they're calling it the letter M. I'm just gonna hit my Return button. Now I'm going to do n so I'll click one time
here. Oh, yeah, it's not really working. This is the probably what students were complaining
about. Okay, let's see if I can. Okay. I'm so happy. I'm running into this issue, too, that actually
get sewn. So that did not get sewn and went away. So I have to try it again. Okay, let's try. I'm going to go back to the free sewing. I'm going to click one time at the bottom
waist of the block. And I'm going to get this block done first,
huh? It doesn't you know what, maybe, maybe I can
for the block. I can't do more than one segment of time. Maybe that's my problem. So I'm going to click one time here. Okay. Now I'm going to click here. Oh, why is that the same color? odd. Should be a different color. Click, click. Oh, maybe it's okay. Click is where I'm gonna hold Shift click
that work? Yes, holding shift work that time has changed
again. So I'm not holding shift. I'm going to click one time. I'm going to go to the end. Click. I'm going to come back to center front. I'm going to click one time. Now I'm going to hold shift and I'm just going
to keep pushing Shift, click with my mouse. So holding Shift, click with my mouse and
click with my mouse. Now I'm going to let go shift. Does that look good? Let me get my own thinking about it. Yes, that's what we want. Great. Okay, question for you guys. Should I so my neckline to the neckline of
the template? Think about that. What would happen if I sewed my neckline to
this template? The answer is we don't want the neckline sewn
to another seam, we actually want that left open like a hem. So I'm not going to show it to anything the
armhole, we're sewing to a sleeve, you know, so that's why we sewed it to our template,
the side seam, we're sewing to another side seam, and the bottom waistline, we're sewing
to the skirt waistline. But the neckline doesn't get sewn to anything,
it just stays open. So you know, you finished with the hem. Same with this bottom skirt, when we put the
skirt in, we're not going to sew the bottom skirt to the bottom of the template because
we want to leave it open. So think about that. I think that's kind of confusing for the first
time you've done this. I just want to make sure that that makes sense
a little bit more controlled of how these templates even work. Okay, cool. So I'm just going to go ahead and finish sewing
all of this and then I will save it. So here I go. click, hold Shift, click, click, click leko
shift and no need to sew the open cuff because he
doesn't get sewn to anything. He would just be folded and topstitch like switched over to the free sewing tool. Click Click, click hold Shift Click Click,
click still holding Shift click click LEGGO shift. Great. Pushing in my scroll wheel to pan click click
click hold Shift Click Click Click Click Click leko shift switching to the segment tool. No need to sew the hem doesn't get sewn to
anything. Just turns and finishes. Okay, I guess I will go back to free sewing. Click Click Click Click Click Click Click
hold shift. I got two little segments I need to grab click
click zooming in switching the segment tool get those Dart legs don't shut to each other
leaving the cuff open. Nice saw the shoulder doesn't. It looks like I missed the shoulder. Did I don't think that guys so okay. Why don't I try for you this segment sewing
now there's a it's broken. Can I do click hold Shift Click now. Okay, I think the shift thing only works on
the free sewing. Click Click ah not gonna work. Now do you click there we are. Click hold shift. Maybe we don't even have to hold Shift click
that connection already exist. Oh my. Let me try one more time. Click quit click click. Ah I just feel like I don't see it. Okay, this is a good time to zoom in. What's there's a troublemaker somewhere? Huh? That sounds weird. I don't think so. Okay, all maybe it is there. It's just Brown. Okay, that threw me off. I guess there is stitching there. I just didn't see it. Okay, fine. I can get confused so easily. Okay, let's go back to segment Click, click,
click, click, click to the side seam sites seam of the bodice sound, a side seam of the
block. The hem is going to get sewn to the skirt
at the waist. Okay, no, I don't wanna do that. I'll just do the armhole, click, click and
leave the neck open or do the other armhole. Switch to free sewing. So I'm gonna go for the shoulder click one
time, click, come to our bodies, click hold Shift, click, click, click the other side,
click hold out, click one time, then hold Shift Click, click, click do the waste, click
one time. Get it click, click hold Shift, click, click,
click click one time. click click, hold Shift Click, click and click
Get that segment tools and close up my shoulder darts. Click Click, click click OK. He looks good. Um, let's close up all the history darts. Click, click. Great. Okay, let's go to the free selling. Click one time, click. Now let's get our site team I clickdo in time
at the top. I'm going to click one time at the bottom
of the site same. I'll do the same on the other side. Okay, I'm going to do the top waste. stopping at center front. Click hold Shift click and stopping at center
front. Great. Zoom in maybe click one time finish this off. Click Click hold Shift, click click click
click and the final quick. Yay. Okay, cool. All righty. There we go. And now you can actually save all of these
independently with a little Save button right here. Let's go to click it
