[Music] it is incredible what's up everybody welcome back to the eat more plants official kitchen today i'm going to show you how to make vegan chicken tikka masala i actually already made this dish in my first video on youtube the indian feast video and i figured this one is so good that it deserves its own video so today i'm going to show you how to make it if at any point like this content the notification squad you're not gonna want to miss what i'm cooking up all right y'all let's not waste any more time here let's get right into this vegan chicken tikka masala let's get it step one marinate our vegan chicken so today i'm using bee leaf vegan drumsticks and these are a delicious chicken substitute they're made from soy protein these can be found on milkguys.com and bee leaf vegan's website so just do a quick google search and find that if you want these if you can't get these for whatever reason you can definitely just substitute tofu for this recipe and this step is not necessary if you're using tofu you can just make the gravy and throw the tofu in there i often do that you can also use chickpeas if you're into more whole foods it's totally up to you but today i'm gonna use these vegan drumsticks so to marinate these you're gonna need some lemon some minced garlic some minced ginger some plant-based yogurt of choice i'm using this i've never used this brand before but i'm hoping it's good gt's yogurt is one of my favorite plant-based yogurts on the market so i highly recommend gts but you can use any plant-based yogurt you want you're also going to need some garam masala some turmeric some red chili powder this is cashmere red chili powder you're going to need some coriander powder and some cumin salt and pepper all right let's get these drumsticks out of the package here so this is what they look like really looks like a chicken drumstick and i'm just gonna get these in a bowl then we're gonna hit this with our plant-based yogurt one cup or you can use however much you got then we'll hit this with some lemon juice we'll say [Music] i don't know maybe two tablespoons minced garlic and minced ginger i'm gonna hit this with some turmeric one teaspoon of this some red chili powder one and a half teaspoons of this some coriander powder half a teaspoon of this and some cumin powder half a teaspoon of that half a teaspoon of garam masala some salt here and some fresh ground black pepper mix this in [Music] mix this in very well and we're just gonna marinate this for at least three hours in the fridge but preferably 24 hours to let all that flavor really infuse into this chicken this vegan chicken here let's throw this in the fridge to chill once your vegan chicken is marinated you're going to just heat up your grill i'm using a cast iron stovetop kind of grill here so this is what i'm using if you guys want to do it on an outdoor grill that's totally cool and all we're going to do is take our vegan chicken and get it right on the grill [Music] [Music] then you're going to want to get some tongs and just give these a nice flip here and as these are grilling i'm going to take this leftover marinade and kind of just top these just so we're not wasting anything here and you're just going to want to grill these on all sides so you get some nice grill marks on there and you kind of infuse all those spices into the chicken before we make the sauce [Music] [Music] once your chicken looks like this and it's nice and grilled on all sides go ahead and remove this from the heat and let this rest here's everything you're going to need to make chicken tikka masala gravy or sauce so you're going to need an onion you're also going to need some ginger you're going to need some garlic you're going to need some green chilies you guys can use whatever kind of green chilies you want i'm using indian green chilies um you guys can use jalapenos serranos any kind of green chilies you want you're going to need some tomatoes and or tomato paste you're also going to need some coconut cream i highly recommend this brand my ploy it's the only kind of coconut cream that i buy you're going to need some cilantro and lime just to finish off the curry you're also gonna need some cumin seeds some garam masala some turmeric powder red chili powder this is cashmere red chili powder you're going to need some coriander powder cumin powder salt pepper and some fenugreek leaves so so [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] foreign [Music] um so we got all of our ingredients chopped up here and we are ready to go make sure you guys have all your ingredients ready and that is not only to be prepared to make this dish so you're not running around the kitchen but also so you can just enjoy the cooking process you don't have to like keep chopping while you're cooking you can really just focus on the pan and enjoy it so let's do this all right let's do this let's make our tikka masala sauce or gravy so i'm going in with three to four tablespoons of oil here once that oil heats up i'm gonna hit this first with some cumin seeds we're just gonna let those sputter [Music] once those cumin seeds start snap crackle popping we're gonna hit this with our onions [Music] mix these in all right these onions have been cooking for about two minutes they're starting to turn translucent i'm going in with my garlic my ginger and my green chili mix this in that's all been sauteing for about two more minutes now and i'm gonna go in with my tomatoes as well as my tomato paste if you guys don't have regular tomatoes you guys can just use more tomato paste and vice versa if you don't have any tomato paste then you guys can just use more tomatoes mix this in and the key here is we really want to give these tomatoes a chance to infuse into that oil and really get thoroughly cooked through if you start adding the rest of your ingredients before these tomatoes are thoroughly cooked you will not get the desired result so don't miss this step let these tomatoes cook in here for at least five minutes and keep in mind you want to keep this pan on a medium heat the whole time you're cooking it but as you can see here our tomatoes have really broken down i've actually let this cook for about seven minutes now and it's broken down enough where we have almost like a paste in the pan right here so this is what you're looking for once it looks like this we're gonna go ahead and add our spices garam masala turmeric red chili powder and coriander powder hit this with some salt fresh ground black pepper and mix this in all right these spices have been cooking in here for about one minute and you can see this is really broken down and it's fully become a paste now i'm just gonna hit this with some water and deglaze this pan scrape off the bottom of the pan here i'm also going to hit this with some coconut cream mix this in i'm just going to turn up my heat to high and bring this to a boil and stir this periodically just to make sure everything's moving around in there everyone's getting to know each other all right our beautiful curry is coming to a boil here all i'm gonna do is cut this down to low and give this a good mix and we're gonna let this simmer for about 25 to 30 minutes until all these flavors are thoroughly infused into that coconut milk and really guys the sauce is the money maker in this recipe if you guys want you can just throw vegetables into this sauce you guys can fry some tofu and throw it into this sauce you could even marinate tofu just like i marinated the chicken and grill it off first and then throw it into this sauce or you guys can buy a vegan chicken substitute like gardein makes a pretty good one or b leaf and you guys can just throw that into the sauce just like i am it's completely up to you just know the sauce is the real recipe here it's completely up to you what you want to throw in it all right this curry has been simmering for about 10 minutes now so i'm gonna go in with my fenugreek leaves mix these in as well as my vegan chicken drumsticks right here let's get these into the curry [Music] mix these in just kind of let them submerge into that curry and we're going to let this keep simmering all right our tikka masala has been simmering for 30 minutes and you can see this nice layer of crust that has formed over the top of the curry so this is all done y'all let's give this a good mix oh wait this is not done we got to finish this up last step here take our lime go right in the curry with it one big handful of chopped cilantro mix this in that is it guys this is your beautiful vegan chicken tikka masala [Music] y'all see this and this is that vegan drumstick man this is gonna be delicious one of my favorite meals right here all right y'all this is all done remove this from the heat all right let me show you how to make perfect indian rice in an instant pot so right here i got two cups of white basmati rice with two cups of water so one to one ratio rice to water right here i got five green cardamom three cloves and a teaspoon of cumin seeds i'm gonna throw that in there then i got some turmeric right here we're going with half a teaspoon of this and some salt we'll say two teaspoons of salt mix this in pop this lid on here on this instant pot it's just got pressure cooked right here on the other one it says manual so either hit pressure cook or manual set it to high pressure set it to three minutes then we're gonna let that cook then leave the lid on let that sit cover with the lid on for 15 minutes and you'll have perfect indian basmati rice [Music] do [Music] do [Music] there you have it guys beautiful [Music] chicken tikka masala 100 vegan 100 delicious [Music] all right y'all let's do this chicken excuse me vegan chicken tikka masala get you a bite of this i don't even know where to start start with a couple chilis here kind of warm up our palate some indian green chili get that on your tone chew on that once your town gets to burn them then get you a bite of this delicious vegan chicken tikka masala man do y'all see that man my chicken tikka masala is next level and it's made from plants man this is a game-changing world-changing dish right here get you a bite of this vegan chicken tikka masala wow here's some of that sauce chase that with rice it is incredible and these vegan drumsticks really make this dish good sometimes i make this with chickpeas sometimes i make this with tofu fried tofu but whenever i have some of these vegan chicken drumsticks this definitely makes this dish it takes this dish to the next level get you another bite of this i'm gonna put some sauce on it for you some tikka masala sauce and get you a bite of this my mouth's watering um chase it with some more sauce there and some rice perfectly seasoned basmati rice right here get you a drink of this fresh pineapple juice actually this is not fresh bought this from the store cleanse the palette here all right some rice with that gravy and really y'all i'm telling you the gravy is all you need you could throw whatever you want in this you don't need these specialty vegan drumsticks you guys can throw veg in here mushrooms in here okra would be nice chickpeas would be nice tofu would be nice you could do any of those hmm let's finish off this drum here vegan drumstick i can't wait until it's 10 years in the future and we got all kinds of vegan meats all made from plants we got every kind of chicken you could think of fish made from plants we got your plant-based salmon plant-based tuna they're already working on it it's gonna happen i'm just ready for it to happen sooner all right let's finish this off get you a bite of this man man incredible get you some onions and get you some green chili there some curry sauce them some basmati rice then another vegan drumstick um [Music] this is easily one of my favorite meals easily one of my favorite meals right here chicken tikka masala man oh and i should have made naan brew i forgot some non-bread would take this to the next level this is the last bite all right y'all so i want some onions and chili actually first get you a drink of this clear that palette pineapple juice yum then some onion and chili just kind of light up the taste buds real quick okay now get you some of this oh my vegan chicken covered in that tikka masala gravy or sauce get you a bite of this yo um wow wow cheers to y'all and this delicious meal that's it y'all it's so good some of course come here i got a good bite for you get all
