How To Connect Yamaha Digital Piano/Keyboard to MacBook or PC via USB-MIDI Cable | 2020 Tutorial |

hey guys i want to do a quick tutorial for those of you that need help connecting your yamaha digital piano to a macbook or pc it took me a while to figure it out so i decided that it would be a good idea to make a quick and easy step-by-step tutorial for you here i have the yamaha ydp 160 digital piano it's definitely not the newest model in the digital piano world so you will not find a bluetooth midi option on here what you will find is these two midi ports this is the medium through which we are going to connect our piano [Music] so the first thing we will need is obviously a digital piano or keyboard the second thing is emitted to usb cable this is what the cable looks like this cable came already attached to my yamaha but if you don't have one there are plenty of options on amazon if you type in midi to usb cable or you can go to a local electronics store but who goes to those these days right the third thing you'll need is a macbook or pc in my case i have to connect it via an adapter because i only have usb c ports number four is yamaha usb midi driver this is a crucial part of the process guys yamaha digital pianos require your macbook or pc to have the driver in order to be able to connect first you'll want to open your browser and go to google type in yamaha usb midi driver for mac if you have a windows type in windows press search and open the first link make sure that your macbook or pc meets the minimum system requirements now go down past the license agreement make sure you read it and confirm that you agree then press the download button after the file has been downloaded open the downloads folder and install the [Music] driver congrats your driver has been installed we're almost done after you install the driver this is crucial my friends you will need to take the cable that you bought and plug the midi out wire into the midi in channel and vice versa plug the midi end wire into the midi out channel then take the other part of the cable and plug it into your computer launch the recording software or digital audio workstation of your choice and you are ready to roll in my case i'm using the logic pro x software on a 16 inch macbook pro press empty project then press choose make sure you select software instrument and for audio input press an instrument plugin press create and there you go guys congratulations for successfully connecting your yamaha digital piano to your macbook or pc if you have any questions please leave a comment down below and thank you for watching
