here here's your cisco device go ahead and connect it but i don't know how to connect it you'll figure out go ahead and do it all right hello guys what's up so today we are going to teach you how to connect through the console cable to a cisco device or any other device that has rj45 as a console cable this is cisco switch pretty old i would say probably end of life nowadays but it still has the console cable and it's still good to connect to it what we need to do is this is the port yeah right cable this is the console cable we call it console cable i mean any anyone in the networking so it has the serial port and the rj45 like this you take one part the rj45 and connect it to the cisco device the other part you're gonna connect to the computer now if your computer doesn't have the serial port you will need something like this it's a usb to serial adapter converter and you can pretty much plug this into a computer and then have the console uh port where you can connect the actual console cable which we are going to do now i'm connecting it to my computer and i will share this screen i will share the screen of this computer soon this is the screen i'm gonna plug i'm gonna plug the power cable into a switch and let's wait oh yeah once you connect the serial port serial adapter you will need to figure out which com port you need to use which serial port you need to use for that you're going to go into device manager on on a windows computer if you're using windows if you're using linux you already know how to do that but if you are using windows go ahead and on the port ports you can find usb to serial com4 cs0 port for so we're gonna switch this the party you can download it from the internet and we switch to configuration we type four instead of one and then we go under serial and we change row control into none and then open and here it is we are seeing how cisco is extracting the image to boot into memory and this is pretty much it now you know how to connect uh to a console port on a cisco or any other device that has the rj45 as a console cable and i hope this video helps you at some point when you need to connect with cisco cable because now you know how to connect it bye
