in this video I'm going to show you how to connect a regular DVD player to both your surround sound home theater system and the back of your flat screen highdef television using the red blue green component video cable if you were paying close attention at the introduction of this video you'd notice the cable that I displayed only had three connectors on it this particular cable that we're going to use now has five connectors on it component video is comprised of red blue and green however we also need to make an audio connection that is why we have the fourth fifth cable right here let's make this connection now we're going to start with the DVD player we're going to take the video red and plug it into the output that has the pr symbol then we're going to take the blue which is video and we're going to plug it into the one that's labeled PB for blue the color is also blue lastly we're going to take the last and third component cable which is green and that's going to go into the outlet marked with a Y so those three cables will produce the video signal you must plug the correct cable color into the correct Jack color and you must do that on both ends if you don't either your picture is going to look really really strange or you're not going to see a picture at all now we just have to connect the audio here we're going to take the white audio and plug it into the white audio jack and then red to Red now on the back of the televis we're going to locate an available component video input we're going to take the red from the component video cable plug it in right there we're going to take the blue and plug it in right there and lastly the green and plug it in right there lastly we're going to take the audio portion red to red white to white next thing we need to do is make the audio connection so the DVD player plays its audio not only through the television but through the surround sound we're going to use a cable like this really all we need are the red and the white we locate the audio output red and white on the back of the TV plug in red to red white to white we need to identify an input on the back of the surround sound home theater system to plug in the red white connectors white to white red to red now when you turn your equipment on you need to make sure the source input on your television is set to the component input and you need to make sure the source input on the surround sound receiver is set to the same AV input that you connected to audio in this case it's connected to DVD the second way of making an audio connection is to take the audio signal straight from the DVD player and connect it to the surround sound system in this example we would do that using the optical output the cable looks like that on both ends we simply line it up and click take the other end of that toss Link cable locate an available digital optical input and plug it in right there here's one that's avail available hey if this video helped you do us a favor please subscribe to our Channel and if you know anyone else who might benefit from these types of helpful how-to videos please send them a link to the video and if you're interested you can go to our website there's a link right below this video it takes you to hundreds of Articles diagrams product reviews Etc ET hey we appreciate your visit today we hope you have a great day thanks
