okay so today we're going to talk to you about OSPF now OSPF it's a unknown routing protocol and I'm going to try and break this down okay so now the question you should ask yourself is so what is a routing protocol okay so written protocol and I'm going to try and doing it's unknown methodology a system that are particularly varley the producer discipline arutam well the route traffic and into brackets packets information status to another route using a language they both can agree upon so a protocol is purely nothing but a language used for a particular purpose okay so that is a written protocol now always fear is one of the most popular ones and if you want a way to check some job interviews as a network engineer they will be requiring that you should have a well versed knowledge of OSPF now today we're going to do at quick config of OSPF I'm gonna just let it down here somewhere so what I'm going to do first is I've got route 2 1 and I'll go root to 2 so let's say this root 2 1 is London and it's connected to a branch office of coordinate for company soft Club maybe a branch here in Perry ok now the name of the company here is soft clap it's like no oh geez and they decided to use OSPF protocol so now we know that it's OSPF I can safely delete this so subcortical no geez you are the network engineer and they have a branch in Paris and a branch the main office in London does HQ headquarters and you need to connect the two so they know what is behind this area and I'm going to put that in a box draw a rectangle here so behind here and I love a rectangle yeah yeah there we go behind here ok so remember that you you might have little computers on this side and looks computing the side but they will all have some local private IPS and you might want Paris to know about London ok and all the networks here why because you might want to let me just stick something in here so let's say you have a server a host here and you have another host here so you have a server here and a server there oh sorry ok let's do this bring it down a bit there's minimizer okay okay so this might be on the oil 92168 dot 10.0 let's work some of mass 2 4 5 2 4 5 to 4 4 to 0 this might be on the 10 10.20 dot 0 24 7 mask the two of them communicate over a different let's work so let's say they use 1 7 3 + 16 dot 51 but - and then / and then let's say it's 30 so that will be 2 4 5 2 4 5 - 55 - so you only have 2 nodes so we would do a submitting to know which one goes here and which and girls there okay but for the meantime so this is where we are right now so what do we do to get our routine started so now you have to identify the interfaces so the interface here is s 1 and interface EAS 1 I should have really used s - why don't I just get rid of us and use a different interface so I will use X 1/2 here and then make some slush just watch one here they cancel which controls you better okay now with all SPF you would say that if we can be one area that is if we can be in one neighborhood we can talk to each other so we will stick a layer here and that's the whole area okay so this area will cover London and let me see if I can lower it one area yeah so there we go damn yeah yeah so so we would call this area area zero area zero and you know if you use Windows a lot um you could go to tax margin and one thing you realize is that we have something called let's check what is over here this performance the services are here process ID so the processor ID other device a process ID a unique number that is assigned to a particular process so for example W search it uses 8 172 Team VI uses 3 seven hundred volt SVC is eight one six and you get a drift okay three seven zero eight okay so I so same so you got in the area and you got to process ID now let's use a provided as as simple as ABC and let's make our PID one okay now the interface is taking part in the OSPF area 0 X 1 2 and s 1 0 for now now to be able to discover I'm what is on the side of the land over here ok what is on the side of the land here sorry the site you have to identify the interface going down to this land who do that's in the list in the next town then a slide and then we do the same for this bit here okay sorry my machine is too powerful too quicker sorry I don't if it's too powerful but it's quick okay so why don't you dive into configuring our OS V F so let's minimize us a bit and I'm going to start London and we're going to go ahead and launch a console okay okay hopefully you're able to see that's a bit better let's change that sincere see if we can make the font a little bigger I don't use this very much so this you don't know what I've never had to change the font anyway so or the taller say here I think okay hopefully you see what's what's happening here so this London fresh I'm going to do is I'm going to go to the global config mode change the hostname its London okay control C and then over here learn to see show IP interface brief let's see what sort of ports we have on this so now Syria one two is just one down here okay so on the Sun at the moment you might need to give it an IP address and my dear we decided to use one seven three sixteen 51.2 slash 30 okay so um let's let me pause for a moment and get the right IP is going to the left and the right of the nodes and then we can we can work together but to get to 51.2 it's a 30 so let minimize this and open it up add let's do some submitting here so one seven 3.1 6.50 1.2 slash 30 so if it's 30 is g55 255.255.255.0 4 5 6 and then 1 & 2 because 2 5 5 - 3 - 5 - 0 0 okay so the increment actually is so we have 1 2 8 64 32 16 8 4 2 1 so the increment actually here starts on the 4 okay so originally 1 7 2.16 dot 51.0 is the first one once they're into the sistine that 51.4 because of the increment 1 7 2.16 of 51.84 goes to 7 and this one goes to 8 plus 4 is 12 2011 so let us write it only once again to those 1650 1.12 okay so now we do know that this 2 here is actually in this range here so he doesn't start IV is actually the mod 0 0 the networks that IP is 1 and then last years of all usable IP is - and broadcast broadcast is 3 so now the IP address 1 & 2 can be used to bring them to what's for us so there's going to be dot 1 and this is going to be dot - all with a southern mask to 5 5 to 5 - 4 - 5 - or / 30 prefix so let's go over here and then let's see if it will work so kind T interface serial 1/2 IP address 1:7 3.16 oh ah the 51 dots and remember that was the one two five five two five five two five five two five two description if you want and I'll say well one interface facing one interface to Paris and then I'll say no shut that interface opened controls that copy run to start yeah okay so show IP interface brief so this is what we have here at the moment okay is up so now I'm going to do the same thing over in France so I would go here and I go start and then I right click here and I go to console and twelve time here lest to you and if your patient patient to the key its network engineer you must be very patient okay okay the interface over here let's see the interface is zero one zero so show IP interface brief okay zero one zero is on the side so Kampf t means let's enter to the global configuration mode okay so now interface zero one zero the IP address we remembered that the first one of the dots one and this is going to be one seven three one seven three sub theater is going to be one seven 3.16 51.2 in at your sense because I made this up I realize that what I wrote down here is actually not a network it's actually the you know the IP of s10 so 255.255.255.0 - and I'll put a description here one interface to London no shut and fill that copy run to start okay okay so now Paris's app would have IP show IP interface brief okay so it says Apple right okay now because the network is zero you're going to correct this here so whenever you give it an IP trans sub- perform subletting to find out what it really is okay don't just assume doesn't it - because it's there because I made it up and then I realized that this is one and two here okay in order to us originally wrote down so now I can do show CDP neighbors that Cisco proprietary information is says we are committed to London on the serial 1.0 interface that's correct here and then we're able to do routine swishin and event agree the services the platform is three seven four five and it's going to the port number serial one two so that's how it tells you so always remember that the first serial is a local interface the port ID is the another local but you know your peer interface as interface yeah okay so now I'll do pink one seven three and dots 16:50 1.1 Oh sucks X whoa so that's some written the IP address to sub the rights of then mask hasn't been applied to the interface and now be able to ping to each other so not traditionally because they are show IP interface brief and now they show IP route it would show that this is barely connected so the CSA's unconnected so notice interface but what OSPF what are you trying to do is saying London if anyone join this network here please let me know so London is going to say okay I'm gonna stick if anyone joins us network here I'm going to make you fully aware so are you can put that in your table so boys from here campaign to girls from here and go through me a camping to boys well that is if they want to do some dating or catching up but you saying she limp you're saying that so they can communicate really so over here come down here and you come down here okay so that's you here London in Paris okay so now this to is done so which interface is going to take part in the OSPF area interface is going to be 0 1 1 1 2 and 0 1 0 so we're good on here so from Paris look just go from London actually there's two one by one and let's give it console okay okay so now on London you're going to configure the OSPF remember that then that's what we'll be thinking about is this network here both sides we're going to do that so we're going to go ahead here and go to County now you type words like router OSPF one everyone and then the network it's where you saying this is part of that OSPF network so it's going to be 1 7 3 dot 16 dots 51 and remember this is that one okay now the Wildcat here and Louis been how that works so the ward card is always going to be g55 - the subnet mask of network so g55 - chief are five g55 of chief are 5.25 I missed a bit hair over here okay so you got here now so that's going to be equal to 0 dot 0 dot 0 dot and three but three is for the full network but we don't wanna do that where you want to do it as specific for that interface is going to be 0 - 0 - 0 - 0 ok because if you simply broadcast it up into 5 5 or 255.255.255.0 floor ffff but so we're going to get say specifically here so I'm going to say easier to 0 0 0 which area area 0 so so that is my side here and I'm just being specific on this interface yeah so this is taking part in the interface so now is anything here I need to do than the area ready yeah positive interface so I'll say passive interface default I'll say no passive interface I want is to be part of part of the egg of the OSPF so there's no bus interface and give a serial 1/2 there's only say that don't make this interface passive make it part of the of the OSPF process if you have an interface you don't want it to be automatically involved in the OSPF rich in particular process then you say part of interface so you can actually say passive interface s1 - and then you can be positive interface default so that you can't commit it I mean that's work here and then they will take part in West via but just a specific one it saves you a lot of time and performance on your machine okay okay so now this is done here so we're going to go to we're going to go to Perry and give our console come over here and we go to the global global config mode kind of T so router OSPF preside e1 and network network is one seven three but sixteen dot 51mm did op g 0 0 0 2 0 and area 0 and okay top t routes on OS p f1 and over here I'm going to say lower positive interface serial 1.0 and then right you can do that but normally get the copyright in start okay so now I also have it enabled so show IP route show IP protocols so it keeps me safe at the moment it son Ryan OSPF this interface here the to use in that area okay so now the interesting thing is Perry's knows of a London okay and we're going to go and attach something to London but I'll stupidly different interface a different different IP so go over here and tell you one let's take another route oh yeah meru ta okay to go out phone okay another Rooter here I got 10 return to computer one okay I'm going to use that ass and for charity change the symbol go intelligent computer now okay and there's going to be here yeah okay okay so we have a Rooter here and it's going to be a little networking okay so first eaten at zero one knows about this let's work here but Perry doesn't know that yet so OSPF is going to show Paris that hey London has a private privates or LAN here with this particular IP range and you can get to know it put in your routing table for future use so let's go to London now but before the let's just run this one here and that's good a console antennas into computer ok so it just goes what you would do is okay so you see an IP routing for this goes and then they set a default gateway so do do the view on same the default gateway will be the IP address of the router that is over here so the F Internet's Ethernet f01 interface IP is going to be the IP default gateway so now here we go so IP default gateway is going to be and I've not said that yet but I'll just say one eighty one sixty eight dot 10.1 to five five two five five two four oh no no no you see you can forget it stings easily where there's nothing there so just do and the VR Oh save okay well this has got an Eaton interface and so just as in Windows if you go to your doctor CAD and for example like on my Wi-Fi I could just go down here and go and specify an IP address okay although now it shows here with this IP address I could also do the same here so it's a PC one so we just get a kind of T hostname sorry check your spelling all the time or the name is London PC one and then do WRO okay because I said did agree we could almost a 95 do something so and this is quite slow okay so interface first IP address 190 the once it's a top ten box when we say fifteen 255.255.255.0 no shot copy run just stop okay so now if I did paint one 92168 of 10.1 which is the IP address of the facet net zero one you're going to get nervous point because there is no IP configured on that yet so let me just take the details in here so dot one and then dots one five okay so there's going to be fifteen is a ten that's work here position London PC brain the timeless so it's because also tidy bring is because it turned on so okay so ignore the for now but that's London pc1 okay and this interface so that's on 15 it's a one so now I'll go to London here and I will tell London County interface this first knows everyone no no no yes IP address of course one I to the once it's a votes 10.1 t-55 255.255.0.0 copy WR that's copying and now I would go to which is london bc one right a ping wasn't correct before now let's see that's what happens with a pink so here we go pink is what can find those non London London s on when was able to speak to the route I'm now let me go to Paris right now okay let's go to Paris and and let's say if Paris campaign London so think any IP in London so or say London pc1 192.168.0 15 and we don't have to get any response because it doesn't know but what is p.m. is able to do and that is amazing is this OSPF is able to tell Paris right now but hey um I've got this guy who's just joining my that's what and he's a good guy I want you to keep his details here and make you a friend so lots of people here come talk to them and chats and dust it or whatever so let me try to stop this and give it a good name London pc1 hopefully the work this time a house worked praise God for that okay and then let's start it again so now I'll go to London and I go to console and come T what am i doing I want to go to router OSPF one and I'll say let's work this time involve you involve this IP here network always do that 180 that's one six eight dot 10.1 and I just wanted to you to advertise here so I can do the whole that Network but do I need that no I just we need to be specific on here zero - zero - zero - zero area zero no passive first zeros the one and then WR okay so that is that is done let's see if London here is started let's go down here and council longer so down what happened uh-oh one we're still down but what do you want here hang on guys let me just
