hi kelly summers with stable designer model we're here today at crown cabinetry one of our custom cabinet providers in blue springs ryan johnson is the owner of crown cabinetry and we're going to talk about all the different options that there are in cabinetry in terms of styles colors wood species kitchens bathrooms finishes lots and lots of different things to discuss today because your cabinetry generally is one of the largest portions of your budget especially in kitchen wanted to show you what some of the different options were and ryan is going to speak specifically to what makes crown cabinetry different and an option for you to use as a schlegel customer so with crown our hallmarks or most important things are number one is the customization there's really no limit to the door style or finish the paint color the stain the different wood that we use because there's nothing stock there's nothing standard we're going to start your cabinets from scratch number two is our standard is all wood construction in our boxes we don't use particle board or furniture board we're going to use a solid wood in that cabinet construction therefore making your cabinets last for decades their heirloom quality cabinets sec or third and most importantly i think is the finish we use what's called a post catalyzed conversion varnish that means when we get our finish in we actually add a catalyst to it that causes it to chemically bond with the door you can actually take fingernail polish remover wipe on here and you're not going to take the finish off therefore those cabinets are going to stay beautiful for years and years so in this vignette at crown cabinetry we have a variety of different things displayed we have an entertainment type system here an island freestanding gorgeous wall unit base cabinets and uppers with a hood and we also have another display over here so talking about some of the differences in terms of cabinet style colors all of those different options you're going to see a paint combined with a stain on the upper and the lowers in this vignette we also have a gorgeous wood top on this display that crown makes as well this is a flat panel with a raised panel combination you generally are going to see one or the other you're not going to see them used together but for the purposes of showroom displays crown as well as others like to show variety of different options so you as a customer can see some of the different choices over on this display you're going to see a paint finish a pretty pop of color this is actually also finished with a glaze on top of it a flat panel shaker style and on the back you're going to see a combination of a white full overlay cabinet with a beautiful navy base full overlay flat panel as you're seeing here all of the flat panel with two inch style and rails so some of the accessories that you're going to see in this particular vignette is drawer glides you're going to see some trash cans some utensil storage and i'll walk you through what some of those look like in the cabinets this is a 7 8 drawer glide versus a full extension drawer glide you can kind of see the difference here between the two not a huge difference and as a customer you might not know but this is going to be an option that you can discuss with your designer on which of these that you would want all both being soft closed so when you carry push the drawer with the weight of the silverware and things in it it doesn't bang and clank whenever you're closing it trash can huge in all kitchens everybody needs trash can and recycle storage and not have the cans out where you got to see them this is going to be a utensil or a knife block also an option getting the clutter off the counters and into cabinetry as an accessory or an option that you can do within the details of your cabinet discussion with your designer and the layouts of how you want to use and and work in your own personal kitchen okay so for all my cookers in the kitchen myself being one who likes to cook with spices you have a variety of different options in terms of where to store them and how you want to store them this is a really good example of doing a spice drawer usually you would partner this where it might be like right next to your cooktop or your range whatever you've got in your kitchen but doing those spices in a drawer you also have the option of having them up above where you've got a rack that mounts you know to the back of the door and then of course just additional storage inside and you also have where they pull out so for those that are taller you can then have it up above where your cooking space or your your top might be here and then be able to easily reach to your left or to your right depending on which left-handed or right-handed you are to grab the spices while you're cooking so as you can see in this vignette stain is not dead this is a beautiful cherry wood with a black glaze oversized upper cabinets oversized detailed crown molding you can also see a different uh hood type obviously not done with the gas range in this display unit but with the sink core bowls great detail you can see that we have on the bottom of the wall cabinets light rail so you have led strip light back behind but this detailed trim piece is a light rail that helps cover and hide the actual light that's back behind you'll also see in this display or notice that we have panels applied panels so this would be your appliance panel for your dishwasher so you have your dishwasher and oversized handle here as well as the refrigerator that we've got the panels on the actual appliance for the refrigerator too you can see over here on the side of the upper cabinet that we have a smooth finish versus on the sides of the island we're gonna have an applied panel and we're picking up the detail of the doors and the drawers uh in areas where you would see them on edges of the island or on the other side of our upper cabinets some of the other accessory options in this is that you are probably looking at this going well those cabinets are obviously much taller than the average upper wall cabinets and how are you going to reach and how are you going to store well one of the handy things in this display is that we actually have a teeny little built-in step so when you need to reach the upper cabinets the step folds down and you're able to stand up on and be able to reach up to the top of your upper cabinets and get to those storage items some of the other accessory items that are in this kitchen in terms of the cabinet details and options that you can do in your own kitchen are going to be utensil storage so you have room for other items down below it's a pull out and you have three for your spatulas and scrapers and all of those type items we have large deep drawers this particular one has a touch latch to come out so you can see that you've got a really deep drawer box for pots pans dishes whatever you might want to store in that and you also in each of the corners left and right of me have lazy susans so you can see that we've got a wood option in here and we've got a metal option in here just for storage going all the way around easily accessible in the corners so this last accessory is for my bakers if you have the mix master that weighs pretty much as much as you there is a kitchen accessory that you can use for that so you can locks into place use your mix master do your baking then you have handles here and it tucks right back into the cabinet and no more hassling with the mix master in this vignette you are seeing a vanity cabinets are not always just in kitchens they're all over the house so in this display this clearly is a bathroom more modern contemporary display the cabinets that you're seeing on this are frameless so the doors and the drawers go all the way across you do not see any cabinet boxes this is going to be a high gloss acrylic door and drawer front and it's what is referred to as a floating vanity because it does not go all the way to the floor it fills within this you're not going to notice that there isn't any hardware like you've seen in some of the other things this is a touchless display so when you are touching this it actually has a catch and opens and closes without any hardware still soft close but you're pushing actually against that mechanism to open and close the drawers as well as on your drawers pushing opening these are full extension drawer glides this is actually referred to in the in the vanity display as a hot drawer so for wee girls with our hair dryers and curling irons putting that in a drawer in an accessory and then it's closes and then soft closes in that mechanism so i wanted to speak to you guys about just briefly of the four different types of cabinets and kind of doing them a little bit in order of cost this particular display gorgeous coffee bar display with black painted cabinets with some over sand on the edges to give it kind of a vintage look is a half overlay this is probably what most everybody has in their kitchens that have not been redone this is a half overlap meaning that your doors and your drawers on the cabinet box are half covering the box that it's sitting on top of versus over here in this gorgeous kitchen display we have insect that means that the doors and the drawers are inset of the cabinet box itself you can see kind of the little cutout all the way around and those doors sit inside that box or that opening over in this display across the way that we looked at is our european or our frameless cabinetry this tends to be a little bit more modern on average this particular display is obviously more modern and more contemporary but there's a ton of different door and drawer finishes that you can do and with different colors different wood species and things to make it look less modern the last is going to be our full overlay in this display you're going to see that your doors and your drawers basically fully cover the cabinet box so you're going to see them extend out to the edges and not halfway like what we saw on the half overlay you see that in this display you see it on the island and this back display and also the entertainment type center um in this last yellow display that we have and probably the final thing to talk to you guys about is just a different door styles in general so there's some different options that we have laid out here this is going to be a flat panel with a an og type outer profile and inner profile you'll notice different style or sizing of your styles and rails versus more of a shaker style that's going to have beading and a smaller style and rail than this different options different colors this is probably the most basic of a shaker style cabinet that you're going to have a flat panel and you have that interior profile that's very very square that's for oh a craftsman style home or a mission style home or even some contemporary or transitional stylist this is more of a typical raised panel style where the center is not flat as you saw on the other three but it's raised and comes out from and you can pick different interior and exterior profiles this has got more of a square exterior profile with a detail going around on the interior profile meeting up with the race panel this last is a very very detailed race panel where you have a pillowed edge you've got an square outside profile with kind of double interior profiles and your raised panel again coming out [Music] when we talk about wood species there's a lot of variation and we have several options laid out for you the first is german beach it's one of the hardest woods that we actually make cabinets off very dense a great great hard wood one of my personal favorites is cherry it's it's also a hardwood it has red tones it's absolutely timeless i don't know that i've ever redone a kitchen that was already done in cherry very very good choice rustic alder or naughty alder is also a great if you want that more of a rustic or casual feel i think that rustic alder is a great choice i like walnut you've seen the hood that we have behind us we're doing a lot of cabinetry out of walnut again a good hard wood chocolaty brown you just can't beat it i'll have kelly's show or hickory love hickory the detail is phenomenal we make a lot of custom tables out of hickory we have our traditional oak red oak white oak and this is actually quarter sawn oak you'll notice that the grain is very straight it's going to give you that true amish or craftsman style feel and then on the end is a very modern maple door it's going to be light not a lot of heavy grain it's a really pretty door whether it's flat or has profiles on it in this vignette we're looking at refacing existing kitchen cabinets on the end over here you have kind of your standard honey oak cabinets in a reface what happens is that the doors and the drawers are replaced your boxes are skinned with a new color your crown is replaced hinges are generally changed out so that you have soft clothes instead of the bangy clangy hold ones and your drawer glides are also order boxes and glides are also changed this is one that is an old one you can kind of hear it versus on this side that has been replaced with new full extension drawer glides and a new box and then has the soft close mechanism this kitchen reface you'll notice when the cabinet is open that you have the old boxes so you have your old interior but you have a fresh look all on the exterior with the new drawers the new doors the new refacing and new crown the old oak crown comes off and then the coordinating new crown to go with the new doors and drawers of color is it is attached to the new cabinets you don't know the before picture but in this vignette there is also when you're refacing the option of blending old cabinets with new cabinets so you have some new cabinetry in certain sections that can be taken out maybe this was this was a sink is a sink currently maybe this was a cooktop with the microwave the cabinet was replaced so you can intermix old cabinets with some new cabinets with it being refaced over here on this wall you can see that there's a lot of different door and drawer styles that you can do with reface you have a flat slab look a raised panel a flat panel with a variety of different styles that you can do with the styles and rails being different dimensions that's probably one of the largest advantages that schlegel enjoys our relationship working with crown is that with a custom cabinet vendor your wood species your paint colors your stain colors and the profiles of interior and exterior are pretty much limitless so as you've seen from all the different displays that we've looked at here at crown cabinetry there are endless choices of inset full overlay half overlay painted stained all the different wood species all of our different profiles of outer profiles inner profiles lots and lots and lots of different things that we can choose from that's why working with a design build firm such as schlegel design remodel takes some of those pressures and worries off of you to be able to help you guide you down the path of what is the perfect wow kitchen for you it's all in those little details and being able to choose from all of these different options i'd like to thank ryan for allowing us to be here in his showroom today socially distant um and it was a pleasure thanks for letting us tour i'm glad you came by you
