St Louis Arch is a must visit iconic part of America and just because you're driving through St Louis with an RV doesn't mean you have to skip it actually having an RV allows you to immerse yourself even more in the arch and the history around it today we'll show you how to camp with your RV right next to the arch as your backdrop and even though we've hiked Half Dome and Angels Landing we'll show you what we think might be the scariest thing you can do in a national park everybody's hand this is St Louis and you should Camp here wow yeah I'm like just creeping out every turn I take I'm taking a slow motion for a while here we go my mom always walks to the end of the driveway and gives us like a farewell wave been doing it for eight years now it's our tradition so if you're anything like us you've probably driven through St Louis or past St Louis and seen the arch at a distance on the interstate and thought wow that's really cool I want to check that out but I don't know if I want to stop in St Louis it's not that far off the interstate to get to where I'm going to show you we think you should Park you're probably talking five to ten minutes depending on which interstate you're coming through you're going to be close to this spot what do you see guys look what's right there is it pretty uh-huh [Music] what is it so one of the complaints people had about this is that all the hookups are at the back of the site but we're not gonna have to worry about that because our sewer hose holder came open and we have no sewer hose what we have no surros it's gone between here and Cookeville Tennessee I don't know where it's at I see these kids and the childhood they're living and it it's just unbelievable to me they're swinging and this is their yard this week and you've got their home with them and the arch in the background you actually get to see it and be a part of it how cool is that we're gonna find out kid Hmm this might be the winner for the most level we've ever been The kids are starving anyways we're going into town I'm about to get more leveling blocks to go under the tires have to buy sewer hoses hey but you got a great view look at look at what's behind me hey Mata I hope our Jacks are okay it really Max this stuff out oh my goodness look at that the leveler said it's it can't go any higher like it says go to another location it says go to another location literally what it says well we can't because we got a good view so there's nothing worse than getting to your campsite after a seven hour day and letting the kids run out and go the playground just to say hey slow down we gotta go to the store I think when you RV it's one of those things it's not if something will happen it's like what's gonna happen if losing our hoses and not getting Level we have to run to Walmart to buy some extra stuff to get set up in the moment is tough it's all part of the journey too soon I guess see part of what's so frustrating and what's making me frustrated with situation is it's like with rving the finish line is always moving because we're starving we had to go grab a Little Caesars and now the finish line is moved again I know that I'm about to go in here and I'm gonna have to to grab everything I need from Walmart and then I still have to go back and get the site set up and then I know that everything inside the RV is just all over the place man everything got banged around my goodness and so the odds of these slides going out without something being scratched or messed up or slim as well so we showed up we thought the day was over and we're gonna relax and look at the arch and the day is like just begun that's rving the finish line is always moving now when we booked the site they had the warning they said no class A's here they said they're not gonna be able to get level and I thought well okay we got a fifth wheel it's gonna be okay I mean it's a site we looked a lied we saw that we could get this site and I was like ah it's worth it Nathan now don't know if it's worth it I feel like an hour and a half going to Walmart and buying more sewer hose and even more sewer hosts I got 30 feet I bought this I guess the heaviest thing I could find now I have eight of these and I absolutely love these but I ran out super fast because the thing is just so unlevel so I think the plan is I'm gonna take these I'm gonna put them under these tires because the tires are currently like four inches off the ground and then I'm gonna let the jacks down onto these I don't know what a mess but look at that view the purchase like right back there [Applause] [Music] I mean usually nothing in here even moves and in here these stools like never move these they have near come all the way out this is like worst case scenario because we haven't moved this in a long time and I'm afraid there's a lot of dirt and debris that got shook out from underneath the couches or underneath the stove or whatever and then the slides come out they'll just scratch the floor to Pieces oh yeah our letter board fell too I mean everything just like a pretty negative start to the video I'm sorry restful day I'm dreading this you have to just like listen and hope you hear it scratching the floor [Music] keep going the kitchen one is the one that ripped the floor last time so I came into the rig after putting the slide in this is what I found this is what did that it was like buried in this Notch right here I guess it started over here and like worked its way under how would it even do that how would this puncture this vinyl oh man I've at least got to catch that basket oh my goodness and they just don't have any weight I can't get in here to oh my God please don't rip please don't rip please don't rip outside like one little piece a one more piece it's ripped hey I mean look at all this like dirt and debris I mean we cleaned it big time can we see the arch there oh you can't see the arch cool oh wow wow that could have been bad there's some random uh okay oh oh there we go that's if you're watching this in your own TV and you're like I want to live in an RV let's just remember you probably came home at some time recently and flipped on your light switch or Open Your Door came in and everything was okay when you live in an RV and you move an RV down a rough road and unlevel sites and the whole deal like this is it like it's a lot of work I'm standing in here this time no riffs you guys can come in you can see the arch from our window yeah it's pretty cool you like that Arch buddy 75 bucks an hour by the way but until somebody parks in front of us totally worth it oh my goodness [Music] can you see it buddy it's look how big it is am I gonna go inside there yeah we're gonna go inside it we'll do it there definitely is some noise here you've got a tram that comes from this direction you've got a train that comes from this direction you've got airplanes that are flying from the airport straight overhead you've got interstates that are crossing all around us basically I definitely would not say the noise level should be something that should keep you from staying at this RV park safety we felt safe fully enclosed with a fence it's not right off the interstate you still have to kind of drive through the casino to get here we have not seen anybody randomly driving around or walking around everyone in here has been from the campground there is a gated entrance there is a security I would say this is felt safe the plan today is to do a boat ride and see the RS however the weather is not cooperating with us today we've been trying to figure out what's the best backup plan because we actually have also been talking about well what's the best way to get to the arch from where we're currently at so we looked at four different options when it came from getting from the campground to the arch number one which is the one that I was leaning toward actually would just be to call an Uber from where we're at it was like 10 12 bucks very minimal effort number two I had read in some reviews that people had walked from here or from the casino like they parked there and then they walked over to the arch and I looked and there is definitely a pedestrian walkway along the bridge that allows you to walk from here to the arch option number three take our e-bikes and ride the e-bikes across the bridge over there and I thought well is The Pedestrian area of the bridge going to be wide enough for us to ride the e-bikes is it going to be a safe area for us to ride the e-bikes in is it gonna be somewhere for us to park the e-bikes and lock those up so we went with option number four which is just to take the truck because we have rain jackets because we have the flexibility because we won't be out in the weather as much we felt like that was the best option for us to take [Music] is that good [Music] so you ride your bikes down this Trail or you walk on it and you literally just kind of turn right there you don't even have to go across any of these crosswalks or anything right there [Music] [Applause] [Music] you guys know I have visions right I have a vision of the way the day is going to go a picture some you know some frolicking and wild horses around surrounded by water I mean that's not too much to ask sometimes that Vision when you're traveling doesn't happen I'm trying to stay positive today repeat after me it's all part of the journey sometimes you know your Visions in a cloud we are going to do a Scenic Cruise of the city that is under a cloud right now the good news is this morning you weren't able to see anything so it's starting to like open up a little bit yeah there it is Buddy cloud cover no cloud cover this is uh this is beautiful rare forgot to blow the cloud away and the wind is picked up and in the clouds have moved so I definitely think you can see the windows up there so hopefully we get a view out of the observation because that's where we're heading next [Music] [Music] it's gonna be a good day it's gonna be a good night it's gonna be a good day with you by my side all we gotta do is [Music] [Applause] out of the arch you guys see what was right behind you did you not even see that lunch with a view if you're considering bring your bike or riding your bike here there are tons of bike racks down here by the riverfront because we didn't know we're like how safe will it feel and it feels safe but it feels like a very tourist area so if you're nervous it'll be all right it's kind of cool to go into a national park it's like underground huh this is beautiful out here [Music] Okay so this is huge wow you really stepped up their Visitor Center game I mean it's incredible it's beautiful not the biggest one we've ever seen but probably the nicest or one of the nicest is that how you're gonna get in you could have walked around buddy all right ours was finished in 1965 and like definitely some 60s going on here Recreations giant murals replicas entire buildings they've like rebuilt interactive touch screens all over the place with different things you could touch and learn I remember being really surprised when they were making this a national park you know you're like the arch is a national park but it's really beautifully done a lot of history one of my favorite stories about the arches in 1947 they held an architectural competition to see what would be this Memorial that's going to be in St Louis and I'm just imagining when you get down to these semi-finalists what they've got like when you look at these other competitors when you get to the arch I could just imagine the competitors when they see the arch saying well this one's over because that definitely looks like the Gateway to the West I'm scared I'll live for stuff like this I do I love stuff like this so much I'm excited and while we wait please enjoy the animation showing on your door if you have any questions please let me know here it's coming down so to make this possible to ride to the top of this orange they had to come up with a design that's kind of a three in one so it's an escalator ferris wheel in an elevator kind of combined and you ride in this little capsule to the top um and there we go [Music] it's okay oh wow can't be claustrophobic in here I got you girls whoa JJ you're gonna hold my hand up how high in the sky are we going right now 630 feet feels like a ferris wheel right now doesn't it it's more than two football fields [Music] foreign looking at this arch for our Campground for like over two days isn't that crazy they're inside that Arch right now [Music] there's our RV hey Robin yeah the RV's down there I see it Daddy I see it you found it [Music] the view is pretty cool but the windows I think you expected larger Windows than this but it's really it's neat it's cool wow buddy foosball Stadium the Capitol Building I guess you could like lay on your belly but kind of like look what happened so you get 10 minutes up here you got to keep climbing up huh everything's still pretty from up high yeah I think it's so good proud of you talking your fears didn't you yeah was it worth it yeah yeah she's so brave high five now if you like what you've seen here with the city experience in an RV I'm going to link to a playlist in Chicago where we stayed I think it's called McCormick yard in Chicago from there you can ride your bikes to most of the sizing attractions you want to see as far as like the the museums and the Bear stadium and the Waterfront really awesome rving experience way different than just like a normal RV Park [Music]
