how to build a pull out bed in a campervan / RV

this ford transit into a stealthy off-grid go  anywhere sleep anywhere camper van and today I'm   gonna show you how I make this L shaped sofa  that transforms into a double bed now I know   there are plenty of videos on YouTube showing you  how to make a slide-out bed but none of them are   this is solid because there's all sorts of stuff  under there but this section I want to have slats   on it and what we need to do is make sure we get  these slats the same height as this so it's nice   and threat when we line in bed the last thing  you want to do is end up with a slightly higher   don't want that so now our now everything fits  everything is going to be nice and level I can   now get rid of the masking tape and screw it all  together which is what I'm going to do right now slats - sighs before I put it all  together I just want a cookie go   over the various components  how they work very important this is to move between these it moves freely  now also and I've seen people make this mistake   so many times you're sliding slap if you screw  this and the same upfront time you get right down   the end there's so much friction or so much grip  each let never move because it's gripping on this   crossmember at the back the crossmember itself  is gripping underneath on the fix lap and it just   move so it's really important you place a spacer  between your sliding slack and you cross me but   just to give I do I'll use a washer I mean it's  a better size of the 2p and that is plenty it's   about coming only a millimeter thick simply place  it on top of a sliding rear slight support I mean   two screws on each side of that washer that's in  place move nice and freely also wash up and the   very front frame I need two screws on each side  again that gives you clear about think I made my   point the point is the fix that I'm sorry the fix  you screwed down a sliding slack make sure you put   a washer under each ink that way give make it all  nice and free and it won't grip and it's like nice   and easy but easily also very important I nearly  forgot to mention this make sure you've got a gap   between each slide part as well each slack so  if you have them together like that again it   just causes too much friction you won't be at a  move it so you do need a little bit of a gap also   helps the mattress breathe as well so there you go  this had a big works so what I've got to do now is   the same thing so I've got to do now screw into  place we round off all the edges take the sharp   corners off as well I've got me at last to do  that and the ones that slide I'm going to cut a   very small Shemp for a long this edge so that when  it comes up it just lifts itself up and goes over   the top of that back support beam it just needs  to go and slide and just lift slightly I brought   a long way out to get them all in a nice space  I've got a piece of five mil ply and I'll just   demonstrate there those two I'm really screwing  into place there you go so I'm going to use that   piece of ply all the way along so I'll get nice  five mil uniform gap all the way down the whole
